Such an amazing video man!:) Not only Richard Spaven is one of my favourite drummers but I do love your interpretation of his style:). I love your humble and chilled out attitude even though you've kicked ass with your drumming:). You got a new subscriber! Keep up the good work:).
Dude! Thank you so much. What other drummers have you been listening to recently? And I just checked out your channel - you got a new sub too my man. Cheers
This is great! I love how you’ve broken down different aspects - which is so useful. I was looking for RS licks and I got much more!!! I got some of his DNA playing style. Keep up the good work. Subbed. 🔥
Hey that was really amazing! Richard is one of my favorite drummer and that helped me a lot to understand better whats going on in his drumming. Thanks for the video!
Such a good video. Spaven can be an elusive drummer to breakdown, but you were able to extract some broad concepts that can be applied to any style. My favorite part of his playing is emphasis on "weird" beats in his phrasing (really just upbeats). It creates almost this rhythmic dissonance till he resolves it on a downbeat. Keep up the good work dude. P.S.- skyler sent me here!
Ah man! I wish... but unfortunately right now I have to pause. I recently got married and moved into an apartment with my wife so I can't play acoustic drums due to noise and space. But once we find a home and I can have another set up like this, I'll be doing deep dives like this into my drumming heroes! Thanks for the motivation.
That's a good question. The books I'm most familiar with are the ones written by Pete Magadini about polyrhythms - check those out in the video description.
Love the Spave!! Jazzing up Dilla Inspired grooves. I'll sub dragged Inverted Triplet moving accents around to keep more of a dance feel, girls dancing keeps you getting $$ :).. What I love is Spave took me back into my stick control book. What can I dillafy. A Broken Pataflafla groove is cooking in my head.... Spaven Mayer those guys keep me thinking outside of the box.. .

Thanks man:). Appreciate that! When it comes to other drummers I’ve really dig into recently - Yussef Dayes really got me ;).
I to “Crave the Spave!”. Love his style. Awesome job breaking this down and bringing some Spave into your own sound.
Hahah thank you man! He’s one of my favorites🙏🏼
We need more vids like this on RUclips 🔥🔥🙏
I'll try to keep it up! Be sure to spread the word and share with any drummer friends who might be interested - I appreciate the love!!

Very nice :) :)
thank you!
Great video. Do you know any book that teaches concepts instead of different random beats and licks?
