Some really lovely layouts here but yet let down by appalling operating probably through ignorance of how the real railway operated back in the day. Steam locos cannot reverse without the drivers operating the revering gear and it's certainly not as quick as flicking a switch on the controller. Locos do not buffer up to stock without stopping first and then easing up. They don't run into coaches or wagons and continue to push the stock down a platform. There are so many other poor examples! Sad really as there are loads of books out there and you can still see it done properly on numerous preserved lines.
