like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Gotta say... I have one, and with the five remotes I would have, this is one of the single best solutions for anyone with more than a couple of remotes. The 650 is a cheaper IR only solution, but the RF is simply amazing. I love mine and it was super easy to configure.
Great video Mr. Linus. I love when you do this "around the house" tech type stuff. It adds great variety to your channel. Like most folks I would assume, when you are a PC enthusiast, that trickles down to all your other gadgets and setups around the house. Keep up the great work. The detail put into your videos I'm quite sure is not easy.
You can get the hub alone, with a non-touch screen remote, for $70 new now - and these are great, in particular if you run everything through a AV. It now works natively with the PS4 and Wii (and Wii U and Switch), plus of course it works with the XBOX, works with every cable box I've tried, works with Apple TV, even works with my Nvidia Shield TV. The setup for myself was mostly easy, I got two of them and one of them I didn't need to do anything for, on the other I had to adjust the timing of switching inputs, which the app walks you through. You can use this with your phone, which works really well, and with the remote, which works really well. Oh, and you can make it work with Alexa via a skill, so you can say Alexa turn on my TV and boots it up, or Alexa play XBOX and it turns on the TV, switches the AV input, and wakes up the XBOX. Also if you Kinect with the XBOX (which will do everything with the XBOX, meaning turn on the TV, switch the AV input, turn on the cable box, and obviously wake UP the XBOX), well then you can voice command via the Kinect to do things like control volume, tell it to launch a game/app or just say something like XBOX WATCH ESPN and it will change the cable channel for you as well as launching the TV app. It's a cool world this voice control stuff... and MS had the market to itself in 2013 and then gave up on it because a bunch of whiny 11-year olds on the internet. Morons.
I have one of the original Logitech Harmony remotes, before the touchscreen was introduced. It took me a few hours to set up, but now I can use it for everything, even as a remote for my Media Center PC. It also lets you script sequences of inputs, which worked great for switching my TV to 3D mode and back to 2D mode, as the media center doesn't trigger 3D on the TV on its own. It works pretty great - totally worth the price.
I use an older Harmony for quite a few years now. I bought my parents two Harmonys. Those are simply the best remotes you can buy out there. And they are quite "cheap" for what they can do. I had way more expensive remotes (Philips Pronto), that I had plenty of problems with. The Harmony remotes are solid, well built and get their job done.
Great review. I have a harmony one, about 3 years old. It's ok. Doesn't always work right, but I probably don't have it set up right. I got it 50% off. For me, it is worth it. It replaces 5 remotes. Before I had it, my wife basically couldn't figure out how to watch anything. Now, she just hits a button and everything turns on.
Got a logitech harmony remote a few years back, a bit cumbersome to begin with, but after you get it all set up, honestly great for simplicity of using less remotes and flipping around through it. Personally won't pay $300 for a new 1 but its quite a handy thing every now and then.

CDs have a lot higher quality than digital music. I'm aware that there is high-quality music available in digital form, but it's a lot harder to find and takes a lot of hard disk space.
Yeah a good Hi Fidelity song file is like 65 megs a piece. Check Tech Moan he did a video about that when showing off what hifi system components he uses. A lot of younger folks are going back to vinyl records. Newer vinyl is not made as crappy as it used to be, and it also cost $25 for a new album compared to the olden days. I remember the 78s my parents had, you barely stepped on them and they shattered to pieces.
TekReview's "The higher the bit rate the better the file" - Technically, I agree. However, try to find someone who's capable of repeatedly passing an ABX or DBT test with a 320kbit/s mp3 encoded and a lossless file. It's just not worth the space you're wasting for additional bits and bytes that you can't even hear (even with !very! expensive gear).
My phone bill with Verizon was usually close to $80 a month, switching to Ting brought my bill down to typically $25 or less a month. I couldn't be happier.
Even the Harmony smart hub by itself its a fantastic remote. I've use harmony remotes since before Logitech bought them. They are the best universal remote IMO.
who gives you cable? the cable fairy? (Unless you live in a place where cable is actually free which probably isn't true) Cable costs me like $190 with Internet and Phone :I We never use the phone.

As someone who sets these up for clients on a daily basis, I will tell you that the more you explorer the harmony software, the easier it is to use, and better it will work. Expecting logitech to flawlessly control all of your devices using default settings is completely unreasonable considering the shear number of devices they have programed into the software. Like so many tech devices out there, it does have it's little quarks and work arounds, but I am yet to find a device that it can't control. If anyone ever has questions about programing one, hit me up. I do it for a living.
How can I start a new activity without it shutting everything off. I'm trying to switch my input on my TV to another input but when I do it shuts my TV off and then tries to restart it again. Same thing with my AV receiver. I would like to go from me play Xbox touch screen button to play Netflix without shutting everything off.
I turn the power settings to where it is supposed to stay on until I press the off button but it only works sometimes. It just seems like there should be an easy way for this to happen
I have Ting, and I love it. I use my phone as much as I did as when I had Verizon, and I pay $30 a month now, whereas before I was paying 120+, and getting nickle and dimed. >.< Definitely recommend it.
I would love for you to an updated video comparing this remote to the new Elite. Looks like they've moved the touch screen back up to the top where it belongs. Would love to see a comparison showing batter life, usability, etc...
I bought this well my friend sold. Me. His for 70 pounds in 2017 but it did include a coffee machine bean to cup lol. Truth is its worth the money. I have xenon 2600 amp, everything is in that so, ps4 xbox one s, pc, projector and TV and fire stick 4k. I use this with a Google speaker and now everything except the ps 4 can be turned on by voice. My movies 4k physical or plex or Netflix can be paused and played via voice. It's amazingly simple. I even have macros to do 16 button presses for zoom out and zoom in on projector but that took me all night to learn. That was 2017
For around $150, you can simply get the Logitech Harmony One, which does almost all the same things, but doesn't support gestures and doesn't have the IR blaster. I have it for my setup and it's awesome.
It's funny that the one take cuts out after Linus apologizes for his CD comment. It's like the person behind the camera was like -HEY, I still listen to CDs!
It's a great remote if you have the full smart house set up going. Being able to turn down the thermostat, open the blinds, turn on the fan, and change the lights at once press of one button is fun. Still not super essential in the long run, but the more smart devices you have that can be controlled by the remote, the easier it is the rationalize the price.
Linus at the last minute is just running a marathon with his tongue on routinely worded sentences... I could almost see his face turn red out of using every last bit of lungs... No pun intended.
For me, the major feature of the Harmony is the massive compatibility, the PC based programming/button assignment, and the "Learning" ability. All of these things are in the Harmony 200 and 300, which can be found on sale between 10 and 20 USD. The massive jump in price to 50-100 USD and a loss of physical buttons for a touch screen is not worth it to me. I like having as many physical buttons as possible so I can press buttons without looking. And since I can program even the 200 and 300 to have any button be any command, there is no issue of lack of available commands.
It took me 2weeks to get my 1100 dialed in. Logitech has been informed for years on features these remotes have needed. Seems like nothing has changed.

Oh Linus you sly devil you! ;)
i've been using it now for a year and its super!

This thing is $300 because they don't want anyone to buy them

Wow that intro joke, best in a long time.
wow brother, great reviews
That intro though
