I moved to PA a decade ago, but these crossings were always my favorite to park by and watch. I'm gutted that they're not there anymore. I get why, of course, but there was such a great grouping of crossings here, and you rarely had to wait long to see one activate.

Hello there Rob thanks for commenting on the video that is cool that you moved to Pennsylvania I have went on vacation there believe it was Dutch County and I visited the Strasburg Railroad while I was there it was a great experience defiantly a whole different life style than Long Island. Oh and also I went to Dutch Wonderland the amusement park to had a lot of fun on the rides and rode the train that brings you around the park. Yea I am very sad that they had to remove the crossing gates I miss all of the horn action over there but like you said I understand why they had to do it.

I saw this video in the sidebar (alongside something else I was watching), and had to take a look...so glad I did. Between 2020 and 2023, I lived in an apartment facing Nassau Interlocking, directly across from where the (new) G16 Substation now stands (the apartment building is visible -- in the background -- @15:35). In terms of "recording history", I could not have been better-situated. Throughout that 3-year period, I witnessed the massive changes made to Nassau Interlocking, in its entirety...the demolition of Substation 8 and the adjacent Nassau Tower...the construction -- "from the ground-up" -- of G16 Substation...the complete rebuilding of the physical plant with concrete-tied "track panels"...the list goes "on-and-on". Literally thousands of still photos, hours-and-hours of video...so much, I've had to store them on a portable hard drive! All of this action, all of these developments and changes literally "steps away" from where I lived! Your video was "quite the surprise", and much appreciated. 💓👌👍👍

Oh wow that is very interesting thank you for sharing you're Story! Yea it is crazy how much the Mineola train station has changed. All of the crossings are now gone expect for the one around the curve heading up to the Oyster Bay branch. Also such a shame that the Nassau tower had to go as well it really symbolized Mineola train station for what it was. I hope to head back to Mineola again sometime in the future I would like to do a Evening Rush there.

Enormous changes at my hometown station and surrounding area. Glad to have been able to hang out there roughly from 1959 till I moved away in the early 1970s. Made friends with many of the MU motormen, and managed to get a few cab rides (ALCo RS's and C420's) between Mineola and Oyster Bay. Thanks for the last looks at what has changed forever.

[2:55] [14:20] "NASSAU 2" Interlocking: LIRR's Oyster Bay Branch connects to the Main Line west into the Mineola Station site.

That’s cool! Yea I like the curve over there and where the crossing gates are there is still one last crossing at Mineola which is that one you can still go there as I know of!

He is probably talking about a faster shortcut to get down to the platforms or the old Main Street crossings or something.
