I'm an engineer. The fact that a conspiracy theorist has such low opinions of my field as to believe we can't design hair catching air filters for the ISS is a level of disrespect I'm not sure I can recover from.
@@fordakacar I think that's worse lol imagine thinking that freaking astronauts don't have the discipline of cleaning their air filters once in a while
"That's why public pools require you to wear a shower cap" Uhhhhhhhh what? I've literally never heard of that. The only thing I can think of is how like professional swimmers wear those rubber caps which I assume are to reduce resistance while swimming, not to protect the pool itself. Upon looking it up it looks like maybe *some* pools will require them if you have hair over a certain length but it seems pretty rare, at least in the US. Sounds like it's a more common requirement in some specific countries, like Mexico, France, and Taiwan. Even then though, I would think it's probably more of a sanitary/respect for others thing than for protecting the pool.
Yeah, I'm currently at work at a public pool and our filters deal with hair all the time. The ISS houses roughly 7 people at a time so I think their filtration systems can handle that if a public pool handles 100s if not 1000s of heads of hair a day.
You're right in the sense that competitive swimmers primarily wear swim caps for performance, but you're not a competitive swimmer. There are other reasons to wear a cap. Pool caps _do_ help protect your hair from the chlorine in the water if you're into that, and while pool filters will absolutely handle any hair in the water it's still gross to swim through it before it actually reaches the filter. For large pools or anywhere that just wants to entend the life of their filters (eg cheap public pools) I totally understand the policy, even if it isn't strictly necessary. To be fair, that example, where 3 people poured in non-alcoholic mixers and then 1 person added alcohol is fairly close to Everclear's actual primary use case. Like, it's just vodka with the alcohol content turned up 2.6x, so a screwdriver made with Everclear as the vodka is essentially a triple screwdriver, but if you add it to 3 times as much orange juice, it's just 3 screwdrivers. That said, she poured that shit WAY too heavy.
@@argon7624 Yeah, that's what the people who make it want you to use it for, but it's not what most people use it for. Like how Ozempic's only FDA approved use case is for treating diabetes, but it's primary usage at this point is for weight loss.

What free time?? I was either in classes or working, and I didn't even do a "hard" major. I don't get what you or NL are talking about. I now have a nice full time office job and that's a breeze.
