I get nostalgia from this! Crazy to think I was in your shoes this time last year when I lived in Bournemouth (2021-2023). I now find myself at the other side of the world in Hangzhou, China, where things can't be any more different. I feel like I've travelled 40 years in the future! Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
Thats cool, do you think China is much more modern looking on the whole? I think much of China is either hyper modern cities or very rural farmland. Britain does have alot of old architecture that is hard to get developed. China does have the ability to build new cities, where we are so cramped there is no space for any new cities.
Thats really cool, i would love to visit China. I can't wait to be able to travel more and document how different, but also how alike each country is. Unfortunately, I can't film in some countries as not all the world allows filming in public. I must always follow the laws of the land I am in.
@@MattRobertsLife I actually live in the rural parts (Deqing County). The countryside is actually more comfortable than urban life. They're very well connected to major cities (highways, high-speed rail network), and have all the amenities you want in a big city. Even mega malls. It's a far cry from the popular stereotype of China of modern cities but impoverished rural areas. That was the case 15 years ago, when urban areas received priority for development (urbanization is a huge driver of economic growth and jobs). But now even the rural areas are seeing tides in development, and have so far to the past 10 years. At least in the parts of China where most of the population lies (east). Ther is some very remote parts of China (west), and of course, some far-flung areas will lag behind. From personal experience, the Deqing county is simply stunning. And it's not even a well known area of China. Even many locals haven't heard of it
I haven't been to Bournemouth in 30 odd years, and I'm barely 10 seconds in ...but I would bet my life that that's the roundabout at Richmond Hill 🤣🤣 2:43 and on the left, Cotlands Road ..omg i walked this route so many times in the 80's 😁
Roundabout at St Peters, Richmond hill has changed a lot in 30 years though. Lansdown is very different than a decade ago, much more high-rise buildings now. Thanks for stopping by
10:42 ...any old skool Bournemouth ravers in the house?!? 😅 correct me if I'm wrong, but Marini's ...did that used to be *Whisky Mac's?* .... Ciao, Wild at Heart, Steve Oates ...anybody?? 😁
@ mate honestly I live 5mins from there there’s nearly a stabbing or a fight there every 2-3 months and crackheads screaming up and down the road it’s crazy
Name a place this is not true. It is not isolated to bournemouth. Comparatively, Bournemouth is the 31st largest town/city in the country and is the largest town in Dorset. Dorset ranks in the top 10 safest places to live in the UK. Globally, the UK sits in 34th/163 place according to the Global Peace Index.
@@thestreetsof I’ve lived here since birth 2001 and I’ve watched it decline badly over the years. High crime rate druggies and homeless everywhere it’s gotten worse over the years. I wouldn’t dream of walking through town center anymore I stay far away from it the only saving grace is the beautiful gardens and the beaches as always its people that ruin an area!
@dexietyy7922 actual stats from crime reporting and charities that work with homelessness etc. State exactly the opposite, a decrease in numbers not an increase. I have this conversation far too much with people who spout feelings instead of facts. Crime is down, it peaked in 1992. Homelessness is down 64%. Now people coming here and pretending to be homeless is a major problem. The half way houses that send addicts to Bournemouth is problematic. But do you honestly think there is more drug taking today than there was in the past? The answer is no.... Facts don't care about feelings. They simply tell a story and that is the opposite of yours.
@@thestreetsof I agree there is too many half way houses here etc they need to go elsewhere and stop bringing them here ruining this once beautiful town. I must say boscombe Has gotten much better over the years though. But Bournemouth town center is a no go area for me now one of the biggest issues here is knife crime it needs to stop I just wish people would be nice to everyone else 😬
The stats in Bournemouth are much better than the big cities, which goes to show how bad a problem the UK has with knife crime. But then that is nothing in comparison to the US gun crime.
I am coming here on Saturday
Oh amazing, the air festival will be on. Should be a good one 👍 👌
