In my opinion the line caught Yukon king salmon caught just as they're entering the river is the best salmon I've ever eaten. Copper river reds are a close second but for both types just haven't seen them in the store for about six years now.
Put some ice on those fish or on stringers. I had not used ice for many years and learned that the fish are much better if kept in the river or on ice. I have 2 very amateur videos. One is called Copper River Alaska father and daughter 2018 and the other is Copper River Alaska Lisa and Kevin 2019
You guys need a third person in that boat to put them on a stringer, cut their gills, put them in the water and let them bleed out. It makes a big difference in flavor and the eggs cure much better.
@@offpiste312 your so wrong they 100% will strike spinners, crank baits out of aggression and will bite skein also they are not “plentiful” retiring sparing salmon numbers in Alaska are very low as of right now
@@evanegan6843 not really wrong, I’ve caught plenty of reds with flies. The presentation is different and requires more skill. I guess my point is that your average person, chechako, would have better luck with a dip net than what you and I could use. Sorry for leaving my comment only partially explained.
what is it with humans they take and take from rivers and the oceans take enough for a feed to let the fish survive at least with a lure you catch one or two
The fish come by the millions. Its subsistence dipnetting to feed your family for a year. I think you need to do some research. Each family is allowed 40 fish.
Awesome video brother

What is the limit
25 for head of household & 10 for each additional family member.
The fish are trying to jump out of the garbage cans what’s the stop the fish from jumping out closest to the edge put a lid on it

the rules say the fish can not be concealed from view therefore lids are not allowed

We pull the gills & constantly fill the trash can with ice & water
I could never tell the difference and we eat 100's per year...
Copper River salmon, the best in the world.
To me that's not fishing! I will not argue with you!
Natives all over the world have used nets for centuries. It's fishing. Celilo Falls on the Columbia RIver was a widely used fishing site. Look it up.

Copper River Red salmon in Alaska
Why not just call it netting?
It's not like set-net fishing, nor like seining.
Margie Schwartz but they are still only netting fish. It’s netting
It’s called dip netting - they are catching Red or Sockeye salmon which don’t bite traditional lures or bait set ups. They are also plentiful.
