Obviously it's a "Talent Show" and he is paying homage to an awesomely talented man and Not stealing his skit but reenacting it for others to enjoy and remember the late great Andy Kaufman.
Everybody talking about how this is so funny, and nobody talking about him picking a piece that literally has cymbal crashes an almost all the downbeats?
Could you point to a video? I looked for it, but all I found was the Mighty Mouse sketch, which is similar but has a completely different focus for the comedy.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T GET IT OR THINK IT IS STUPID.....THIS IS A FREAKING BAND JOKE!!!!! PEOPLE THAT ARE OR WERE IN BAND WOULD GET THIS, BECAUSE THE CYMBALS DON'T G WRT TO PLAY MUCH AND THIS EXPLAINS IT VERY WELL!!😂
"no cause it sucks" I've been in both a school marching band, school rock band, and a non school related band... if you loved and lived music the way OTHER musicians do, I think you'd show some more respect toward other musical types... What sucked about being in a school band? all that said, of COURSE it's "easy minded", it's called dry humor, a genre of comedy that is just as popular as any other, maybe that's why people find this funny. Think of that?
how do you know if the crowd will cheer for you or boo you? you got lucky and they followed along with your humor which made it funny. if they booed you it wouldn't have been funny
I like how a lot of the comments are something like "only people who are in band get this joke", when literally anyone who can read sheet music get it, and most people who can't get it by putting 2 and 2 together...
Back when Radio DJs could actually prank call, Gary Burbank in Cincinnati called to Julliard as Gilbert Gnarley, G-n-a-r-l-e-y, to audition as a cymbalist. That was over 30 years ago, but still funny.
I can take the laughing, but its the high pitched screaming for no apparent reason that does my head in
Lars is a heartthrob to many a high school girl in the audience at the high school talent show.
I guess that's the downside of being a pop star. The Beatles at Shea Stadium were inaudible.
I call them howler monkeys!!
Obviously it's a "Talent Show" and he is paying homage to an awesomely talented man and Not stealing his skit but reenacting it for others to enjoy and remember the late great Andy Kaufman.
Yes, Mighty Mouse! That’s what I was thinking the whole time.
@@ericrosenburg657 yep 👍
".. _Heeeere_ _I_ _Come_ _To_ _Save_ _The_ _DAAAAAAY_ !"
should have been entitled "Most Annoying Drunk Audience Ever"
Anton Nym lol
RBLXevilDocter ROBLOX
"...and PS Not Funny."
I hope not. It’s just a spirited High School!
This commenter should be entitled "Most Easily Annoyed Person Ever"....
In percussion for school I had to play crash cymbals and this is exactly what it was like XD
NAILS! As someone who marched a season of cymbals in marching band and marches cymbals in band parades, this is GOLD!
It's the Andy Kaufman mighty mouse routine with symbols, it's perfect, genius
Bonus points for turning the pages. Bravo.
Did anyone else hear... "Take your clothes off" :D hahahaha
That man really knows how to play the rests.
Everybody talking about how this is so funny, and nobody talking about him picking a piece that literally has cymbal crashes an almost all the downbeats?
From a guy with a percussion performance degree, thank you. :)
Life of a percussionist :/
There were very many crash cymbal hits that he did not play though.
it's kind of sad but true
George Hamilton different cymbal
This is SO TRUE!
wow
This is really a training class for audiences where the members think its all about them and not the act.
Ruined by a screaming audience
as a percussionist i can say thats about right. and im first chair the last chair doesnt even pick up an instrument
Those private cymbal lessons really paid off.
omg. he turned the pages.😂
One of these days is going to be declared a felony to put mis leading captions on videos like this. Greatest my ass.
Just good fun all the way around! Amazing bunch of people there!😂💜🙏
For those interested the song is Stars and stripes forever
THANK YOU I NEEDED THIS YOU ARE LOVED❤
I took cymbal lessons for 3 years, but found that the Tambourine was more fulfilling.
Couldn’t master the kazoo??
@@dadofmax3850 Didn't need to, I could put tissue paper over a comb.
@@gearshifterg9756 Awesome! I remember doing that. Too funny…
he did the crash wrong but that's basically every freshmen at band camp
Four and a half minutes you'll never get back
that was beautiful, brought tears to my eyes!
This is by far the greatest thing ever xD
This gave me the inspiration to do hilarious band and orchestra bits in my variety show! Thank you!
This has an Andy Kaufman feel to it. Liked it.
8 yrs later I was going to say the same thing. Andy was a legend
LITTERALLY me in middle school band.
11 years later, still funny 🤣
See ya later, next year.
11 years later, still NOT funny 😐
There fixed it for you.
He bet on the young (and apparently drunk) crowd not knowing who Andy Kaufman was and this being totally original and it looks like it worked.
It was great! Especially the first time I saw it on SNL with Andy Kaufman.
Could you point to a video? I looked for it, but all I found was the Mighty Mouse sketch, which is similar but has a completely different focus for the comedy.
That was funny as hell! Loved it!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T GET IT OR THINK IT IS STUPID.....THIS IS A FREAKING BAND JOKE!!!!! PEOPLE THAT ARE OR WERE IN BAND WOULD GET THIS, BECAUSE THE CYMBALS DON'T G WRT TO PLAY MUCH AND THIS EXPLAINS IT VERY WELL!!😂
Thats literally life of a percussionist 😂😂 my life in a video
Maybe it should have entitled "Best Freaking Band Joke Ever" then. Sorry but it was still stupid.
Gosh I'm so glad you felt the need to explain this so fully...You must be a drummer . However it was wasted 'cos it's still only mildly amusing,
Actually, I'm an oboist! :)
yeah i know, but where is the funny part?
Genius. Pure comedic Genius.😊
"Take your clothes off!"
"Wait."
Inspiration for this video brought to you by dry toast.
This is funny, but it was funnier the first time when Andy Kaufman did it.
But he's dead...
I have watched this video at least a Zildjian times
Best cymbal solo ever !!!!
this one time at band camp
realmaco1 ayee
Stop It! 😂
Harry Potter mr potter detention

How to bo spin
at 1:24 this video turns into a story of how a small alien aircraft approached and passed a camera just before the funniest talent act show ever.
And that, is why the Santa Clara Vanguard and others developed wonderful motion patterns....Enjoyed this.
I was actually crying! Props here from england
That's funny! Counting, turning the page, and then fast-forwarding; funny.
Haven't seen many talent shows previously, I assume, if this is your "funniest ever."
Every cymbal player ever.
Also a great version of Andy Kaufman's performance
This made my day
4 minutes I'll never get back
Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Dave Chappelle couldn't have competed with that..
literally a andy Kaufman routine
literally a andy Kaufman routine
being in an orchestra for several years, this is hilarious
After a pandemic and in a pending nuclear war with Russia this recommend was right on time, even it was forever ago.
that audience sounds like a studio audience laugh track.
Funny calling: Can I have my good name back?
This has Andy Kaufman vibes
THE FUNNIEST TALENT SHOW ACT EVER???
I guess some people just don't get out much... well not on their own anyway.
i guess youve just never been in a school band before
"no cause it sucks"

His talent is underrated
Even funnier on Man On The Moon!
Good comedy is timing. This guy's got it down.
Andy Kaufman did something like that with the mighty mouse theme song
The first song is the official West Point march
Did someone seriously yell TAKE UR CLOTHES OFF?!?!?!?!?
+Colby Bryan i did
+TheRedHatDrummer Bruh
It's sad that more than half of the comments don't understand the joke. Only band geeks get it
I'm not a band geek and still got it~
XD
cyborgagent6 yup 😬😬
Attack on Omega groudon b
cyborgagent6 yup
Typical band kids... Anyone can understand this
Barney Fife did this in an Andy Griffith show
Me thinks there were drinks had by the audience.
Andy Kaufman wants his joke back.
Loved how focused he was. Stand up job.
10/10 this guy has some serious talent
I´m waiting for the funny part!
I imagen Victor Borge would say "that boy has a great future in music or comedy or whatever.
that unbeatable talent ever
That pixel really knows how to play the cymbals.
I was waiting for the reappearance of "Latka" "Thank you very much."
hes going to stick the cymbals together...
how do you know if the crowd will cheer for you or boo you? you got lucky and they followed along with your humor which made it funny. if they booed you it wouldn't have been funny
Please save us from screaming girls!
Probably what the Las Vegas shooter thought.!
everyone in the crowds like HUHUHUHUH you had to be there... you had to be there
It should be possible to sue for false representation
He did a great job, the audience - not so much. Hell truly is other people ...
I guess you had to be there...
that... was so beautiful...
A real page turner....
@lightsparkify im pretty sure its the fact that he only used the cymbal once during the whole song
Lars is my hero.
A 10 sec joke that lasted 4 mins
I like how a lot of the comments are something like "only people who are in band get this joke", when literally anyone who can read sheet music get it, and most people who can't get it by putting 2 and 2 together...
Cant believe I chose this guy to marry 😂
Haha
everyone watching in 2019 like: 0_0
I think Andy Kaufman did this on SNL 40+ years ago
@GemCityHorns that comment made me laugh harder than the video
There was something very Andy Kaufman about this.
That's like doing the tequila song! Maybe it will be his second act!!
This is an old SNL skit.
..........opsssssssssss,i make a mistake - i talking about Lars.excuse me,today is my folly day:)
No,no,no,no and no!!! Have you people ever seen Andy Kaufmans Mighty Mouse?!?!?!
Andy Kaufman died when he did this and this was a dedication to Andy Kaufman also he’s my dad
Drummers being funny 😆. Next stop, Carnegie Hall.
I guess you had to be there......
Andy Kauffman

right out of the Andy Kaufman playbook. well done though. lol
the friends cheering a little too enthusiastically in support of their friend is annoying
