This was broadcasted on the ABC news show, 20/20. I was 13 years old when I watched that piece air past 10pm. I had just enjoyed Williams' score from "Return of the Jedi" a few weeks ago and this feature was a delight--watching the composer at work. All I had to keep of the feature was an audio cassette recorder I made off the speaker from the TV and I've lost the tape of feature decades ago. Thanks for bring it back.
@@iceomistar4302 Well being filmed in the 80s doesn't really mean anything, I'd imagine it does exist in HD as a film reel somewhere - look at the excerpts of the HD scan of the 1980 BBC doc on John Williams, it looks beautiful. This 20/20 piece has just never been seen by the public that way. This is a youtube compressed upload of a VHS recording of an analog tv broadcast. That being said we're lucky to have the footage at all, I'm super thankful to the uploader for posting this

He should be professor Williams. The lecture hall will be filled up every time.
It was indeed when he played together with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Vienna Konzerthaus, this year's January...
Amazing!
where can I get the same kind of sketch score sheet music he has or something similar
You can find pdfs of it online.
Awful images. Out of focus, with low-resolution. Why bother?
