Zoe! You don’t have to tip at every place you go into. The most important places to tip at in America are sit down restaurants when you have a server serving you, hair & nail salons, and shops where they provide labor intensive services. Every other place is optional so do not feel bad if you do not provide tip.
Yess!! I really dislike how almost everywhere you go nowadays there’s a tipping option right after you pay when you’re not even sitting down and the worker is just doing their job with a plain attitude. There is no need to tip when you just go to a store or cafe to buy to what you need like a simple coffee. I understand a restaurant where you’re sitting down or a nail salon because there is actually someone who is suppose to attend to you and ensure they are meeting your needs and doing things to your liking (basically earn a tip from you), but not when I go to a bakery just to buy some bread. The tipping culture here in the US can be confusing for foreigners visiting but Zoe, please don’t feel obligated to tip at every place you go into unless you feel the person serving you really went above and beyond for you. There’s nothing wrong and is totally normal with choosing ‘no tip’ on the iPad when you buy a coffee or a pastry. Hope this helps for the next time you visit the US!
Seriously it is not customary In the US to tip when you get take-out or are getting to-go, but with the pandemic everyone is now asking and putting tip on the checkout screen to make you feel guilty! The difference is servers in sit-down restaurants are paid very low wages and live off tips, but people in cafes and Starbucks all make minimum wage or higher so tips are rare and a bonus, and I would never tip at a convenience store or when picking up a takeout order. If you have delivery the delivery person gets a tip.
Traveling with friends or family would be nice but traveling alone is a different story! I think in that way, we can learn so many things, meet different people and also have realizations 😍 I'm so happy to know Zoe having fun on her long US trip! (also a dream of mine 🤩) Going out to your comfort zone of being alone must be the best thing to know yourself more. ✨
I'm an introvert & have anxiety TT so, I don't know if I can travel alone, just watching you makes me nervous for you. I think you're brave to do this. I hope you'll continue to have fun and eventually make friends there. Keep safe!
Zoe! You should go to swan oyster depot in SF! They have such fresh seafood (we waited almost 3 hours to eat there once). Couple of other recommendations would be the pier 1 marketplace (great food and view), Japantown (crepes!), baker beach, and Seoul Gom Tang in Oakland. I hope you have a great time in SF- it is a wonderful city! If you have time and able to rent a car, I think a trip to Napa, St. Helena, and Calistoga will be fun too!
As someone who has lived in America my whole life (and is specifically leaving because of the violence), I couldn’t imagine going on a solo USA trip like she did. Hoping she doesn’t run into any problems while here, and hope people keep being sweet to her. Cities can be super unforgiving.
“The weather in San Francisco is so unpredictable” Honey, come to Oregon and you’ll see what unpredictable really is *lmao* … one minute it rains, the next it’s sunny, then partly sunny, then back to rain again, *it never ends* lol … glad your having fun in SF, love your channel always ❤️
If you’re still in SF, I recommend trying Arsicault Bakery. They were named best croissants in the entire US a few years ago. You should also try the local ice cream, like Bi-Rite Creamery and Humphrey Slocombe, or Mitchell’s. Salt & Straw is also very good, but they’re a company from Oregon.
seconding bi-rite! there's a park across the street (or there was the last time i was in sf) that is a nice area to sit and people watch and eat your ice cream.
Giirl your ootds 😭😍 and travelling alone? I could never (well, fingers crossed for the future!) I'm so happy you're doing a lot of sight seeing there and having fun! Stay safe 😘
For Asian food I recommend: -Hinodeya Ramen Bar (Japan town) -San Tung -Han II Kwan -Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine -OSHA Thai (embarcadero location) Coffee: -Home Coffee -Sightglass Steak/Beef: -House of Prime Rib -Fogo De Chao Hope you’re having fun and stay safe!!
I love your vlogs! I go to San Francisco about 5 times a year, I live in Los Angeles so i can visit frequently. The weather does change very quickly and it gets very cold, keep warm and stay safe. ♡
stay safe zoe!! i really enjoy your vlogs and i hope you have the most fun while being there in SF. hopefully you can come back to korea and make more cafe vlogs because that’s all in good fun whenever i watch them.
hi , zoe ! i know u r travelling alone and looks like u r enjoying it alot but i am curious was there any moment in this whole trip when u thought - I wish I had my family / friends with me to share the moment ?
I'm probs worrying for nothing but it makes me so nervous knowing that Zoe is walking around with her phone out filming in the Bay Area. Stay safe and remain aware of your surroundings! (Qw Q I don't know it it's still there but there's this store in the main building of Japan Town that specialises in matcha soft serve and etc. I also remember there being a store somewhere that sells mochi doughnuts that are super yummy. Give them a try if you can! (Vv V
You can relax, it's not like she's visiting the mission district. And even in places like the mission district that get a bad wrap are not as bad as people make it out to be.
zoe please come to nyc there’s so many things here! i recommend the metropolitan museum best experience! there’s also a huge library here that was so nice! if you want to come to cloisters too! it’s like a castle.
My ultimate goal is like this, to travel alone. Yeah I know travelling with friends and family are best. But you must try to have your ultimate "Me Time"
Zoe, you should definitely check out Blackwood for delicious food! The Marina district is also fun to explore, Palace of Fine Arts is a must visit if you haven't already! Tartine Bakery has some goodies too, but the line is sometimes a bit long.
Omg, at 5:12, the woman who was standing at the cashier is B pastries’s regular customer. I’ve known her since I worked around there 2,3 years ago. Surprisingly you caught her in you vlog. And if u still here in the U.S, I recommend u to try Son & Garden,it’s a very lovely restaurant
But it is crazy how she went from 10,000 subs to 2.5 million so quick I’m here since the beginning it’s awesome and Videos are just so good and fun to watch !! 🙆🏼♂️
The academy of sciencess is my one of my fav places to visit:0 I had soo many school field trips here when I was younger and I definitely took it for granted now that I think about it, such a cool place
if you do decide to come to sf in the summer, i would double check when pride is. prices for hotels get really expensive and there are a loooot of crowds. not to mention, if you aren't used to seeing people dressing up (or down!) for pride, it might be a bit of a culture shock! it usually happens in june in america. also, california gets quite a few fires in summer, so i would be careful not to come too late when everything has dried up! otherwise, sf in summer is beautiful, 80 degrees and sunny almost every day.
omg SF is 1 hour away from me, DO not trust the weather its always bad! come to cupertino please!! the weather is good and you can see Apple headquarters! its one 1 hour away!!!!
*Zoe, you look so independent and elegant woman like those in the film! 💐 Your outfits are so beautiful and classy. ✨* looking forward for more of your travel vlogs, be safe

@@cv7904 if they are nice I would tip but if not I don’t 🤣
@@joycechan8946 yeah I tip like a dollar or so if the cashier is being nice/really sweet or if we had a nice conversation about something

it can work both ways here in US. 😊 Tipping is optional. 🙂🙂
Zoe don't even know she is brightening up our day

Zoe is very brave, US is relatively really not that safe when you think about it.
The US is safe. San Francisco, no.
Why is the US not safe? Broad assumption
