Went twice in Monterey in 2016 and 17. Whale watching was the best experience of my life. Amazing beautiful place and whale watching. The central coast of California is my favorite place in the U.S . Big Sur, Carmel , Santa Cruz, Pebble Beach and Hearst Castle. If you ever make it don't miss the Elephant seal beach below Hearst Castle it's like Planet earth the series from 15 feet away from your face. The Central coast is take your breath away beautiful. We also had a sea otter hop in our kayak at Moss landing. So many great memories. Don't miss Monterey Bay Aquarium either.

That one at around 0:21 or so coming up fluke high like that is a display I've never seen before, and I've watched a lot of whales' surface behaviors. How majestic. A real treat to see.

“Whale watching capital OF THE WORLD?” I’m local. Born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula. 65 years. Yes, we have whales…part of the year. Have I seen all THIS? Nope.

Amazing vies of the killer whales. Humpbacks ‘s breeching are impressive. They get rid of barnacles this way. Or perhaps they are trying to impress the female. They love to be in those waters due to abundance of krill and water’s warmth
I believe that was their best day! Stunning.

They are absolutely amazing... I love them, I pray to them, I bow to them and I cry heavy tears over their terrible fate... A beautiful miracle of nature.

So thankful we insignificant human beings are given the unbelievable pleasure of witnessing these magnificent creatures so up close it has to be one of the most awe inspiring feelings to be able to be so close and enjoy this treasure of an experience of a lifetime, it is such a shame that we're destroying the natural environment they need to live in but that's man for you

Been twice in Monterey and I'm a grown man and a Humpback stuck it's entire head out of the water 5 feet from our boat and just stared at us for about 20 seconds. I looked around and grown men were in tears no joke. Myself included. It was the greatest moment of my life.

Humpbacks are there year round I believe but we went in June and it was amazing. Whales are usually everywhere in the bay.

Whale breaching. Could the change in water pressure as the whale moves from several hundred feet down up into free air give the whales a sort of adrenaline rush (an effect similar to a hit with the whale equivalent of cocaine)?
