After cleaning point the lens at the sun for a hour or so, or use a UVC light bulb shining for a while down the optics, fungi dont like this, (in a controlled way as UVC will harm you).
I disagree, UVC does not penetrate into glass, you're putting yourself in danger for nothing. UV does not penetrate far into glass, it is actually the heat from the sun that kills fungus, which like all yeasts die above 50C. Cheers.
Very detailed video. I got one of this for ~$35USD with fungus on the real element. Alcohol and lighter fluid have cleaned most of it but not all. What would you suggest to clean the lens with? or I just need to soak it for longer?
I have this lens but I cant focus beyond 50m ,so no infinity focus, can you give me some advice is there some focus limiter to move , I have tired on 2 body's Nikon D3200 and Fuji XT-1 with adapter AI-FX but its the same
@@toforbiddenshores what is surprising is that you say it does not work on a nikon camera either. Two options, maybe you're missing a bit on the flange distance, or the focusing part is slightly misaligned. You can probably go to the group lens repair on facebook and ask around too.

I did find what was reason not reaching infinity.. , Misaligned top front element!, Solution was simple I just adjusted the element lightly it not need to be pushed because it can not be easy taken out after, it did take me time to find the reason opening the lens, cleaning elements, playing wit helicoid i even tried with back element reversed and all search on internet and forums ..but after all Success! :))
@@diyextravaganza i have taken the whole thing apart and put it all back together after cleaning. after doing this the zoom does not seam to line back up with markings on the side of the lens. i think it could be a grease problem but not sure. everything else is working fine.

What size screwdriver did you use to take out that tiny screw that holds the optics to the focusing part? Is is a Philips or a tiny slot driver?

Hello, you mean you cannot move physically the focusing ring beyond 50m or you can reach infinity (with the ring) but not optically?

I opened the lens but didn't find way how to shorten focal flange to get infinity ,maybe ai to eos-fx adapter will work
