Scallops are not suppose to be bland! They should have the flavors of the sea they were harvested from. Sounded like you got very fresh scallops. To me Flying Fish is a place to go if you love seafood.
Agreed! I had that exact scallop dish when I was there in late 2022 and it was the best meal I had on property that stay. I thought they were excellent.
Went to flying fish in Jan w/ my in-laws. I was so excited to show them this place I had heard so many great things, and it was honestly one of the worst meals we had aside from steakhouse 71. We could never find our waitress. The food, took an hour to come out and the fish was seriously overcooked.
We were just at Disney World this April. Following Pete's recommendations, we dined at flying fish and steakhouse 71. Both were just amazing. My daughter and I are huge foodies and a great part of our trip is finding great places to eat. These two restaurants have become one of our favorites and we will definitely be coming back on future trips.
No, I'm sorry. I don't agree that scallops should be bland tasting. However, I do think they don't need that much extra salt, since seafood is already salty.
You are correct. And it's a bad choice as the main entree for this review. It needs to be an add on and not the main seafood dish you order. Would have liked to see some additional seafood options reviewed
Consistently the BEST restaurant at WDW hands down, and yeah, that pork belly and that fillet are AMAZING. Plus, beyond the great food...the level of SERVICE has always been SUPERB and the wine service knowledgeable and expert. WOW you MUST go there folks. You simply must!
It’s very cool seeing the crew eat here once again and continuing to love it. On my trip last month I finally ate at Flying Fish based off the DIS’s past reviews, and I absolutely loved it! The pork belly is so good, the potato wrapped red snapper is phenomenal, and the service is top notch! Chelsea was our server and she was spectacular. Only been once but this is my favorite restaurant at WDW! Jaleo in a close second. Great review!
The hug at the end of this video with Pete and Chef Tim is the highlight here. It really shows how important WDW is to the lives of Pete and crew and I love them for it. They are just as emotionally invested as the rest of us fans are with Disneyworld 🤗 . Regarding the Flying Fish, as a person on vacation at WDW, its hard for me to put some of my limited time (and money) to go here because of the many other restaurant options in (to me) better locations and experience. I’m talking more specifically about the California Grill. If Im going signature, thats the quintessential WDW dining experience Im going with. If I was staying in the Boardwalk area and didn’t want to travel elsewhere or dine in epcot, this would then be an option. P.S: The real info here is no children were used in the coffee & thats the information Im really here for 😆
Love seeing Pete! I wish he could teach me how to accessorize. His jewelry is on point! Also, I would love to hear his commentary on the Star Cruiser officially closing.
I have seen a ton of reviews for Flying Fish from various people and almost everyone has said the non seafood dishes are the way to go which is ironic to me.
For the record, I had the red snapper there a year ago and it was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Also, my son (7 at the time) tried the octopus appetizer (or add-on, I don't remember how it was presented), and it was one of his favorite things he's ever eaten. My wife loved the scallops too - not sure if they were prepared differently last year or the guest in this review just got unlucky, but my wife is pretty sophisticated with her scallops and thought they were great. Family sample size of one, yes, but all seafood was fantastic for us.
I'm not usually one to send food back, but I would if I paid $50 for a half dozen scallops and they were too salty. It's possible the cooks made a mistake. If something is over-salted it ruins the dish.
Great review - had our first experience at the Flying Fish last week, and really loved it! We were staying at the Boardwalk for a night, and our waiter Izzi was great, as was my strip steak and my wife's seafood pasta...after seeing this, I wish I went with the pork belly for the appetizer, although the shrimp cocktail was outstanding in presentation :). We look forward to another stay at BWV and will for sure head back to the Flying Fish, hoping the next chef keeps Chef Tim's momentum up there!!
My girlfriend and I ate there at the beginning of May and we got the snapper and the filet. Despite being expensive, we walked out not feeling like we got ripped off for the price. Great restaurant! The tall bartender is funny as hell too.
I was just there and the sea food pasta I had was delicious. My wife had the chard steak perfectly cooked. Will be returning in the future. Thank you Pete, we went on your recommendations from watching reviews, dvc show and dis unplugged.
My teens and young adult child LOVE the chicken noodle there! I’ve had the scallops there, they are good. Must of been someone with a heavy had with the salt that night
Great review! I am dying to try this restaurant. I don’t eat seafood but Pete’s dish looks amazing! And BTW Pete, I love that shirt you have on and that color looks amazing on you!
Thank god Chef Tim is heading Topolino’s, we had an awful dinner there 2 weeks ago. One dish was inedible. We ate at Flying Fish the night before and I agree, the scallops weren’t amazing, only thought the Bisque was okay (Boathouse’s is the best on property), and everything else was superb.
I wish the boardwalk resort had easier access to quick service. Would love to stay there and eat at flying fish. But with the kiddos no easy quick food at the resort is a deal killer
I was just there tonight and had the bisque, the scallops and the cheesecake. Interestingly enough, I thought the bisque was a little salt forward, but the scallops were perfectly seasoned. Two of them were a tad overcooked but the other four were perfection. I went with the cheesecake at the recommendation of the bartender (I sat at the bar) and it was just right for me. Very light and not NY style at all. Had a wonderful time!
Flying Fish was hands down my favorite restaurant, food wise, that we went to in September 2022. Unfortunately we will not be returning in December 2023, as the price is just a little too steep for what you get, in my opinion. But if you're up for a splurge this is def. the place to go!
Hi Pete and Panda! We went beginning of May and the service was bad. Our server, changed attitude when we didn’t go for his wine suggestion (150$ bottle ) he then forgot our appetizers and when we got our entrees my fish was overcooked and the other’s seafood pastas were warm....we chose this restaurant for the fish, I guess from your review, they should change the name 😂 to keep it a signature restaurant!
It's funny how this video got such high praise and it's the last time Pete is on film. Apparently behind the scenes is a bully hes narcissistic and hes a pervert. Oh yeah did I mention? He may be an embezzler too.
Flying fish is our favorite restaurant for quality of food in all of Disney. The atmosphere here is very nice as well. The staff from top to bottom are amazing. Chef Tim does an amazing job, will answer any questions you have and even take time out of his evening to make small talk. Toledo is a close second for quality and experience. California Grill use to be the top for us but recent visits over the last few years and they’ve slid down the list. It’s great to see other higher quality restaurants to chose from besides Cali Grill.
Everything looked delish but did y’all at least bring the overly salty scallops to the attention of your server? At that price point, they need to know and have an opportunity to make it right.
I'll take one of everything that Pete had! Excellent review. I appreciate that this one was a little more detailed in the review throughout the meal. Sometimes I feel there is little commentary during the meal and just a quick reflection at the end. I know sometimes it has to be expedited a bit depending on where you're at and noise and music in the restaurant.
We know when good chefs leave a restaurant it can plummet. However, I’ll be really interested to see what he does with SSR it being my home resort- come on Tim, make Turf Club a must do👍
nice solid review, I cant wait for chef Tim new position taking place especially for OKW. I been a DVC child all my life since 93 at OKW, Olivia's is true hit & miss.
Just tried this restaurant for the first time, and it was delicious. Loved the wine I had, the lobster bisque, and the scallops. They definitely had a kick, so if you're used to something less spicy then maybe try something else, but they were fresh and cooked perfectly.
Pete!!!! You need to get some more relatable people as far as women on your show. Your guys are amazing Love, love love them. there are Disney women that are into Disney and fashion and are educated in Disney and a Parks food, shopping!! I was an original Diser back in the 90’s!! So I’ve been a Diser since the 90’s!! Love Tnkrbell
THose of us who have been dining at flying fish for a long time now call him Little Tim. His executive chef Was also named Tim back in the day so the distinction was made as Big Tim and Little Tim and we have called him that all these years. Was heartbroken when he told us a few weeks ago he was leaving. He is the staple of this restaurant. I am honestly scared for the future of this restaurant now. It is perfection with him at the helm, ESPECIALLY THAT PORK BELLY!! We shall see what plays out here.
I've wanted to check this place out for a long time but it's a place I'd rather go with friends to, so someday, but not on a solo trip just yet! Also, cool shirt, Pete, you look like royalty! I hope to one day bid and win a dining review with Pete, such a BIG dream of mine, as I LOVE reviewing food everywhere I go!
I really enjoyed this review, I’ve never died of flying fish, but I hope that to change in the near future. I agree that Olivia’s is hit or miss, but I’ve had more hits than bad experiences.
Citrico's totally took our top spot in our visit last month, with Steakhouse 71 second. Flying Fish is normally our "go To" but this visit was awful. Terrible service, mediocre food (the vegetarian option is uncreative and bland at best) and non existent wine service. It honestly, if we are rating, barely hovered over quick service - but was $100+ per person. Very disappointed. But again - Citricos and Steakhouse 71 were both excellent.
Flying fish should be excellent it’s fine dining expensive. I’d be angry at any 50 dollar entree that wasn’t good. My sister was a host there loved chef tim.
WDW hasn't been a Walt Disney type of experience for 20 yrs. Who wants BLAN tasting scallops..if I got Blan ones I would send them back
Loved pandas soup review since I have similar food tastes. Good idea expanding your choice to kids menu
Always enjoy Pete's reviews!
It’s great to see Pete’s face - missed him from the Tuesday show ❤
Went to flying fish in Jan w/ my in-laws. I was so excited to show them this place I had heard so many great things, and it was honestly one of the worst meals we had aside from steakhouse 71. Great to see Pete and Panda. I love your commentary Pete!
Here for the Pete and Panda food reviews! ❤❤❤❤
I couldn’t believe that was actually said 😂
You are correct. And it's a bad choice as the main entree for this review. It needs to be an add on and not the main seafood dish you order. Would have liked to see some additional seafood options reviewed
She chose the wrong word I think, maybe she meant a mild flavor.
Are you saying seafood is salty because seafood lives in salt water?
No more auction winners in reviews… this lady was unbearable…
I’m really gonna miss John (panda) he’s such a pleasure what a great guy!

I hope pete can make an appearance Tuesday or a special video to talk about the recent news. I love his perspective as a business owner.
Same but since he has his Patreon show, probs not.
I am so done with the food at Saratoga Springs but now that Chef Tim is overseeing it, well, I might try eating there again. 👍😁
Hey, Pete! Good to see you, Man! You look great, and I LOVE the shirt!
Thank you all for a thorough and thoughtful review.
😊
I love flying fish! It was the best dinner we had last trip.
I would have called our waiter over and ask for a new plate of scallops with less salt. Flying Fish is very accommodating.
Love seeing Pete! I wish he could teach me how to accessorize. His jewelry is on point! Also, I would love to hear his commentary on the Star Cruiser officially closing.
Hey Pete 🎉Never leave us Pete! Have a wonderful dining experience and weekend boss!

The potato crusted red snapper is the best fish dish on property. This is our number 1 dining restaurant at Disney. Never had a bad meal

One of the best meals in all of Disney.
I'm guessing that was Bill at the bar. He's fantastic. My favorite place on all of property for a meal is the bar at Flying Fish.

I remember having scallops at California grill that were good but over salted unfortunately

Please tell chef Tim to bring back the lobster sandwich at artist palette and the balsamic reduced pizza!

Pete’s meal ♥️♥️♥️♥️
The potato wrapped snapper is the star of the show at flying fish. Much better option than the scallops.
$51 FOR SALTY BLAND SCALLOPS
I don't understand why she didn't send it back to the kitchen...
Theyre not scallops. Theyre stingray wings cut with a cookie cutter.
@@AwwYiss_ You would think scallops would be cheaper than stingray

Does anyone know when Chef Tim is leaving Flying Fish? We have a reservation there next month and want to ensure we don’t miss him!
Scallops that are over cooked are bland tasting and they need some salt as they are not naturally salty. They aren’t tofu
Citrico's totally took our top spot in our visit last month, with Steakhouse 71 second. Flying Fish is normally our "go To" but this visit was awful. The word shrimp is not plural. Shrimp represents one or a hundred shrimp.
little known fact about Pete: "meat butter" was also his nickname in college
Scallops are supposed to be bland? 💀
it was an old white woman, not shocking she was adverse to flavor

Flying Fish was not impressive 3 weeks ago. I got the Char crusted New York Strip. There is better steak on property.
Please stop saying "shrimps'. The plural form of "shrimp" is "shrimp".
