Ren must think, how can I do something differently? I know what; I'm just going to do an incredible performance in the back of a car 😆 absolute 🔥 name another artist that could pull this off?
Thank you for that, Ren! Your voice is always soothing to me. Even though the subject is upsetting, I feel the hope, and I can breathe easier! I know it sounds daft, but my heart rate slows, and my racing mind focuses so I can actually listen and really appreciate the music! Thank you to Cliff, too, as always! Both of you take care, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Ceri from Wales x
Ren's acoustic versions really hit different. They feel like a new song completely and I love it so much. This one hits even harder with the lyrics. So beautiful and raw and powerful
This one is IMPORTANT to have an acoustic live version done. People DO pay MORE attention when they are not distracted by producion or a clever video. It has MORE of an IMPACT. It CERTAINLY deserves it. ❤🤗❤
Ren makes us all realize how our problems are not worth complaining about. This dude is a real inspiration to overcome any difficulties in our lives. 💯 🔥 Chi Town strong. 💪 💪 💪
I've never felt so much love for someone I've never met before! I want nothing but good things for him! His acoustic versions of his songs are my absolute favorite!! ❤
How can an artist who is so accomplished, keep getting better and better?, What Ren is actually capable of is wonderfully frightening, and I can't wait for his next release!❤
The reaction community is wonderful. Before finding Ren, I had watched only one. Now I watch many regularly. One thing that impresses me is how many of you tell people to reach out to you personally if they are hurting and alone. Bravo to all of you who do that
I said it on his page and I'll say it here.... this man could sing the dictionary and make it sound good❤ When he slows it all down and the emotions come thru...unbelievable
11:14 Look at Cliff spitting facts again! One thing you said hit me. When I was serving in the USAF as a career officer I was lamenting to a friend my unhappiness with everything, and that if I got promoted to the next higher rank, I'd be so happy. And I was for two days: the day I heard the promotion news and drinking champagne in the office of the Three star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ General of the USAF Academy, and the day o pinned it on. And so my friend took me to lunch, and not forgetting our previous conversation about happiness, said Hey, Julian. You happy now? And Cliff my reaction was a flat (tone deaf flat) NO. And I went on to share with him exactly what you did about fleeting happiness...
I think he wrote this on guitar in the Sick Boi era. He was waiting on clearance for the sample which is why it was released now. The original video was recorded back in January. Don't know when this acoustic version was recorded but my guess is around the same time. So excited for the next chapter of Ren which should be the guitar/songwriter version with some dope collabs
It felt like we were in the car with him. So intimate, so raw and so honest. The pain in his face and eyes at times was heartbreaking. I, too, hope he’s is doing ok and I hope you are also looking after yourself. Much love.❤
Ren is an inspiration to everyone. How he has endured all that he has, and creates such creative, beautiful music magic is such a testament to his inner strength.
I agree … Ren spoils us! He’s working on two different albums as well as two additional collaborations, one with Prof and one with Webby. I agree, I think music is his life force, so even with going to clinic 5 days a week, he’s always creating, recording, mixing, working on videos, etc. I’m just glad Ren’s well enough to do what he loves!
The intimacy of this video means it feels like Ren is singing to you, the viewer, alone. It feels like you can touch the emotion through the screen and, like you say Cliff, you can hear the lyrics more clearly. 💜🔥 Thanks Cliff 💜
His journey definitely underscores the importance of science and medicine applied in non exploitative forms. This world eats crazy and broken, most of the time.
There's sport sex...and there is making love... The slowed down emotionally connected, acoustic instrument and voice dancing through a story that gives you time to feel like you are there...is the making love of music...
My husband has a very bad heart. He had a heart attack at 23. Has an implanted device that is both a deflb and pacemaker. He's 38 now, and it's failing. He's on the list for a transplant. This hurts, and is so beautiful.
My son has been breaking down since the age of 4. It started with anxiety and a severe phobia and of being alone which at 28 he still has. He has been I. Fight/flight since he was 4 which has caused so many physical problems over the years along with adhd and ocd and depression. The list of his diagnosis is long and we still don’t know what all is correct. He can’t work. His life has been hell. He doesn’t even know what normal feels like, what being by himself for 5 minutes feels like, what it feels like to not feel trapped. Ren means so much to me because he gives me hope that maybe somehow my son will figure a way out of this hell.
❤ #ren #troubles #verahall #lymedisease The acoustic versions alway's hit different. What a special soul he is, he was born to do this & I hope he continues to improve health wise as deserves the best 💗🖤💗
Can I just remind the obvious- most decent guitar players struggle to play and sing - to rap and sing and play at the sick advanced flawlessly played level while flowing - it is truly ridiculous. Love to Ren he is a source of so much Inspiration, nothing but hope for him to feel better and get better, hard to get better as a musician because he is THE TRUTH. Peace/
@@Haffelpaff I think he could have done while riding a Roller Coaster! Always sending positive thoughts on his health, when he returns - he hasn't even scraped anywhere near what artistic explorations that he has within himself - I am so glad I stumbled upon Hi Ren and can experience the birth of the artistic musical genius of this time - it wouldn't surprise me if someday people will identify the 2020's by Ren surfacing like we do the 60's with The Beatles.
Just watched the video on Ren's page then on to your video to hear your take on it. I always prefer the accustic versions also, they become more personal and another level of depth to them. The way Ren goes far away in his entire face as he say the words "Just to feel, I wish it was a metaphore, the struggle was real" goes right through me 🥺 Yes, most great artists seem to have paid the price at some point in their lifes for the gift they have been given. Love Ren and love you Cliff ❤Thank you for being on this so fast 🙏🥰
Thanks for being on top of it and showing more love to Ren, I second your sentiments absolutely! I hope Ren takes care of himself and stays around a LOT longer, he's an amazing artist and he's making such an impact. Thank YOU for showing him more love and for always having such heartfelt and candid content. I really appreciate your videos!
Raw emotion, that’s how. The intimacy with him and a guitar pulls us in, and it pulls him into the words and emotional connection with him and his music. Gets me every time! 🥊😎👍. 🔥🌳🌬💨
This is stunning. Stripped down, raw. The lyrics hit harder than the original. Also, his guitar work--I'm pretty sure this is Travis picking--is spot-on, note-perfect, even as he's delivering the lyrics.
To be fair, the intro is definitely some Django Reinhardt style. His vocals is what I find so interesting. The connection between british suburbia and the carribean islands either via vinyl pressings or immigration....has inexorably altered the landscape of british music over the past 50+ years. (Think I am lying? Just go listen to like 10+% of Sting's songs lol). Ren seems to not only have absorbed that, yet actually understood how and why.
Agreed I loved what he did remixing this. I can’t quite pin the melody in the beginning but somehow I keep coming back to an old police song. I just haven’t had a chance to go listen to a few songs. But I absolutely love it and his voice is incredible. The fact he’s doing this in a moving car is amazing to me. Thanks for getting right on this, we can always count on you Cliff. ❤
It’s really quite amazing how he shifts the tone of a song that has such stripped down production. Just a man with a voice & a guitar & a message straight from his heart. Brilliant! Beautiful. ✌🏼
I love the intimacy of the live versions. "Dropping raw thoughts" for real. ❤ Really hope you get to meet up with Ren later in the year when he is living in the US. Would be so cool to see you guys hanging out and chatting after everything.
I just showed a girlfriend of mine Ren and my 24 year old son came in the room and asks what we were doing and she says "your mom loves this kid!" And just says "oh trust me I know" ha ha everyone in the house gets a little Ren
I was very sick about the same time as Ren was and i lost my love for music for a very long time for years i was so lost i can completely relate to Rens struggle he is a light at the end of the tunnel he will inspire a lot of people with his complete transparency of his struggle he is showing the world it can be done even in the darkest place there is light hope and strength in all of us and thing's can get better with support and understanding so proud of him and wish him all the happiness and success in the world Xxxxxxx
Great reaction Cliff, you're post song synopsis is always so well stated and on point!! I saw a Ren reaction recently, never seen the reactor before but apparently he's a seasoned studio musician and producer, and it was about his 5th or 6th reaction to Ren, he said something along the lines of what you were saying, but in a very interesting way that I thought was pretty spot on...(paraphrasing)..."I've never seen an artist, or anyone, that is so in touch with their instrument, they're lyrics and the music that is coming out of them. It's almost like I'm watching an alien that's connected on some cellular level to his guitar, or piano or whatever instrument he picks up, it's truly astonishing in the best possible way!!" ✌💚

@@BD-BOY22 Yeah? Unsurprising tbh, if true. Reinhardt was a very talented guitarist and he burnt his arm and hand badly enough where he had to relearn guitar regarding the fretting hand. Hits so hard! I agree!
So much more palpable emotion in his acoustic tracks.
❤ My favorite REN is him and his guitar. The emotions that are projected through his intimacy with his guitar are unmatched.
He's the best artist that has ever existed.
His level of genius, talent then you throw what he's gone and going through.
It's hell with no real cure.

I love this Cliff! No matter how he sings this song neither it be acoustic, busking, rapping, or whatever he chooses is always beautiful! I loved it!
