Wow, "not allowed to pick any other team's current player in this video game" is a pretty harsh handicap, and really silly as far as preventing real tampering goes.
He doesn't have to worry about the league, he has to worry about other teams or executives getting butthurt at something he says or does, and making a complaint just for the hell of it. It just isn't worth the hassle.
