Brandy was always so pretty and talented - I hate that she doesn't get the credit she deserves
Aaliyah also had brilliant songs and style

@@toseeeyetoeye Right?! I totally agree. I wish she never got blacklisted like she did. But she's doing pretty well even since all that, so I'm glad it's only been up for her. I would have loved to see an Aaliyah and Brandy collab. That would have changed the ENTIRE music and fashion game..... I just know it, lol.

@@temilovie9592 Damn I didn't know that she got blacklisted!
I haven't gotten round to listening to the new album - i guess I'm hesistant bc I feel like never say never the album is her masterpiece and can never be topped
I feel like a collab between her and Aaliyah would've been legendary
I always thought Aaliyah had so much more to give and other artists that we've seen flourish have used her career as a blueprint

@@toseeeyetoeye Yes! After her car accident in which she accidentally killed someone, all of the sudden, she was out-casted and always seen in a bad image. As well, she had her daughter out of wedlock and a lot of people who always saw her as innocent felt betrayed, so they weren't checking for her anymore. It's sad because she has always still been a great person, is an awesome mom, and is still SUPER talented. In my opinion, I don't think it was fair, since some celebs have gotten away with far worse. But she's been shining again and getting back into things ever since like 2011, so I'm happy for her.
I still need to listen to her newest album also, lol. But I totally agree because Never Say Never is also my favourite album from her. Her debut and Full Moon are incredible, But NSN was so fulfilling. I have NO skips on that album.
And right?!! Aaliyah is what soo many young R&B singers try and emulate. From style and even to the musical aspect. She was definitely a blueprint. And with Brandy's vocal range and Aaliyah's vocal colour & musical creativeness, those two would have been the next generation's Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey's "When You Believe," but a pop hit instead of a pop ballad. It'd be up there as one of the greatest musical collaborations of all time, certainly. The vocals, the outfits, the choreography, and the music video in general? They were so unique and talented, it would have been soo amazing!

@@temilovie9592 Wow I had no clue abt Brandy's accident - although I remember watching an Oprah video of her lying about being married 🤔. I suppose she had to because as you can see in from the magazine cover in my video she was known for her "squeaky clean" image so Brandy's downfall I imagine was quite disappointing for a lot of the ppl who saw her as a role model. I feel like the fall of Brandy also mirrors the fall of Lauryn Hill bc she was also known for making wholesome music and was then blacklisted. Brandy's first album seems so pure and youthful so I feel like I'm past the point of being able to relate but I'm the same age Brandy was when she made NSN and it resonates with me so much. The whole album sonically feels like the eve of womanhood - it's mature yet innocent. It really captures a moment in time where everything was going right for her before she was burdened by later events- I feel that when I hear Top Of the World bc that's exactly where she was. Not to be a hater but I really wish the artists that claim to be inspired by Aaliyah would adopt her musicianship as well bc a lot of them reduce her contributions to music to baggy clothes and a swoop bang lol. Many claim to be Aaliyah inspired but they haven't even attempted to experiment musically like she did on the red album or get a good team of producers like Missy to make some original beats instead of sampling old 90s songs. It makes me sad to think abt the undoing of artists I once enjoyed - which makes me so glad that Brandy made a comeback or else her brilliant work would simply be reduced to The Boy Is Mine 😒
