I had a similar cage on the ground. The mice entered through underground tunnels and helped themselves to the feed. From now on the quail go into raised beds, mice proof.

I would put wire all around from the inside and from the outside just incase. I have a Quail that I don't even know how it got at my house but it with the chickens. Anyways I tried grabbing it and kept flying away until one day I chased it and grabbed it and now I have it but mom tells me to let it go because she doesn't want it in a cage everyday because it sad and that it should be free. I still have it but don't know what to do with it.
