@awfulmoviereviews6792 Can't speak for him, but the sympathetic monsters, the world building, the theme of the chaos that results when two different civilizations/worldviews meet...
@@thedativecase9733 well actually I enjoyed seeing him in other sci-fi flicks, because sometimes he maybe was the only remaining quality of those flicks.
@@awfulmoviereviews6792 Maybe, I'm going from memory, but I thought it did. I thought they mentioned that some were born with (what we'd call normal pigmentation) but those people were ostracized.
Any Good movie is one that entertains you. And no movie is entirely devoid of one angle or another from which plausibility is wanting. This movie is simply a whole lot of fun. The simple fact is, - is that the longer disbelief is suspended, the better time you're gonna have. Besides, so much which is dismissed as being 'not' possible - never suffers a label of 'impossible' 👍
I was lucky enough to meet John Agar & he said he was friends with Rock Hudson & Hudson came to the set of Mole People looked around & said " What have you gotten yourself into Agar" ? LOL 🤣
Not a good movie, but it's so odd that it holds my attention and amuses me. I don't know of many other B movies of the period that capture the pulp magazine/lost civilization kind of flavor. About the only one I can think of is "Pharaoh's Curse" (1957), which is an eccentric combination of desert adventure, romance, comedy, mummy's curse, science fiction, and a character who is a cat goddess!
Maybe why the sumerians were hurt by the sun and flashlights and not the fire in their lair I suppose is because they’re only hurt by ultraviolet rays from the sun and the flashlight and fire doesn’t produce that ? Idk it’s very odd
The monsters were killing people who criticized the picture, dragging them to that black-sand "swamp". Yes, the story in incomplete, it arises more questions than answers. That pretty girl at the end... was that a suicide, she was trying to escape..? And English with Sumerian, Egyptian characters... yes, English is older than I thought. There is an actor, he is very angry about using his name in this movie - Moe Howard. Fortunately, he forgave the name´s similarity. I almost abandoned the picture after that long, eternal search for the man that fell somewhere, "eaten" by the floor. But I resisted - big might , as Mighty Mightor- and concluded the watching. Thanks for the review, very good, and take care - Nasa discovered that the Mole People plan to invade the White House.
Funny thing: stock shots of The Mole People show up in The Wild World of Batwoman. Why? Who knows?! It was Jerry Warren - he needed to make the film stretch to over an hour! /snerk
I didn't know that, that's interesting! But that wouldn't be the first time that stock footage or scenes from previous movies would be recycled into another film. In my previous review or Robot Monster (1953), I point out that the scenes at the end were actually from previous films like the One Million years B.C (1940) and The Lost Continent (1951). It's a way to cut down the costs !
Lower grade movie...How low can you go. That said, you mean to tell me that the beautiful love interest actually dies, crushed by a 16 ton Ionic column? Criminy, what a bummer!

I was born in 1976. I saw the mole people when I was young and it scared the crap out of me. I was afraid of them. My uncle used to tease me when I was being bad and say the mole people were coming to get me.
Homer: MERLOCKS! CHUDS! MOLE PEOPLE!!!
Hans: THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM THE FORTRESS OF THE MOLES!!! Uh except that! 🤣🤣🤣
I don't get the reference haha. Where is it from ?

Oh indeed they would've been 🤣

I know about this movie because it's one of my favorite episodes of Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
Yes it has also been featured on mst3k.
But the film by itself is so bad, I must say !
Same here. I was watching that edition again last night.
@@awfulmoviereviews6792 And of course it "stars" the annoying John Agar !
@@thedativecase9733 well actually I enjoyed seeing him in other sci-fi flicks, because sometimes he maybe was the only remaining quality of those flicks.
This movie is just ropes and asses!
Why did the mole people decide to rebel only after the strangers showed up and why did the girl not burn up from the sun like her people normally did.
Very good question. Unfortunately, the film doesn't answer any of those.
