  • Hello Dragonfruit people! Hope you are having a good day in the garden! This pitaya video is about my Halley comet dragon fruit harvest and taste test the fruit! This pitahaya is a very good tasting fruit and I recommend you guys grow this one! It has a sweet and tangy flavor but you must cross pollinate the flower and it is considered self sterile! The dragon fruit has a sweet sugary watermelon flavor to it and the seeds are crunchy!

    WOW that's alot of cracking! Cool to know that some can still be salvaged!
    A bonus in the vid for me is you filming with your Dark Star plants behind you - super cool to see varieties that are still fruiting late into the year!

    I've never seen anybody harvest DF by twisting them off. That's interesting! Were all these fruits from a single stem? You actually ARE good at describing flavors, Cody! When you joined Kim in her taste reviews, I started to enjoy her videos a lot more. I'd like to suggest something that nobody else does when they film DF taste reviews: a 1 to 10 rating of sweetness, tartness, and flavor complexity of each fruit. There are people, like me, who like a good combination of sweet and tart in their fruit. Such a rating would be very useful!

    Whenever we get a big rain dump for our area (I’m Oceanside / vista) I’m really on top of checking twice a day. Also whenever it gets very dewy in mornings, but hot during day.

    Thanks for making df videos. What is reason for cracking?

      Thank you for watching! The reason could be weather or over watering! Haha

    Can you cut around the cracking or just eat it? I’m not very picky lol, I’d love to know.

      Honestly if there’s no ants I just eat it anyways lol! Just cutting the dry area off!

      Yes true! I just recently learned this! They say to not water the plant as fruit ripens for sweeter fruit!

    What's the DF fruit pollen you use for cross pollinate Thanks

    • @DragonFruitFreak
      @DragonFruitFreak  2 года назад +1

      Tons of different pollen! The universal pollinators that I’d recommend would be Vietnam white and sugar dragon!
