Thank You for explaining the precision to measure each step instead of guessing and hoping things come together. Excellent Technique !!!!

Glad you find it useful. After some time you'll get the feeling for it and stop doing it. But thats the point. Practice makes perfect.
      Cheers

Thank you so much for producing videos on fly tying, absolute fantastic effort from you.
Its got me back out fishing and tying at my bench after a couple of yeas hardly fishing at all !
A couple of week ago I bought The Feather mechanic, great book and through that I found your channel.
Your style and descriptions are in my opinion second to none, honestly so well made and easy to follow.
I can tie flies that catch fish, but I want to go up a level and tie flies that are also stunning, your help will allow me to do that.

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I am very glad to see when people want to up their tying. Its just pleasurable hobby. Anything will catch a fish. But catching fish on something that we appreciate is just better. And a friend told me "if a fish is going to give me its best, than i should do the same".
      All the best.

Commented on comparadun video but coming to most recent to let you know how fantastic your videos are. Tying for 25 years, learned from VHS, and your instructional acumen is next level. I find that us Americans aren’t the best at teaching finer points for whatever reason. Amazed that you do it so well in your (presumably) 2nd language. Kudos.

      Thank you so much
Seems we had similar journey. I started some 25years ago too. Without internet it was more difficult. I think Americans did leave significant impact on tying. Probably most important one. Europe is more detail oriented, hence most fashion brands are European i guess. But people like Doug Swisher, Gary La Fontaine and many others are amazing teachers i think.
And yes, English is my second language. I am serbian. 😀😀

Very precise and great explanation and instruction. I got the first book only just started reading it though. Really looking forward to the chapter where you got this from. My issue now is I’m looking for better flies each time. I look at some older flies and they look terrible….. thanks for the video.

Marking the fly with marker is from the book. Tail and thorax are techniques i picked up from Wayne Luallen. Measuring thread and pasting it to the feather is just one of my ideas to help people be more consistent.
However, both books Gordon wrote are amazing literatures. They teach so much more than just patterns.

Very precise and accurate fly but not that necessary for fishing flys as the trout are not that discriminating imo!!

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  3 месяца назад

I agree 100%. I am discriminating. The technique is just to help people remove guessing part. Its nit something that should be used all the time. Not necessary as you say. Literally at this moment i am thinking about making another video on ways how to tie off hackle .
