I use my stomp with a mini board. Have a volume pedal and some overdrives in front of the stomp. I use the stomp for amp/cab models and wet effects mostly.
I run hx stomp with my board for amps, reverbs, and any modulation I need. Delays coming from a dd500 in the stomp fx loop. All drives before. Love it!!
I’ve been running my pedalboard into the HX for a couple years with a single amp and IR at the end of the board with a lot of success. For me, I run the amp (Matchstick is my go to as well as a Princeton or Bassman type) clean/edge of breakup at the end of the chain, and let my compressor (Diamond), Boost (RC Booster pre-OD’s and Vertex Boost post-OD), overdrive pedals (Nobels ODR-1, original JRockett Blue Note, Wampler Gearbox) do the work. My delay (Nemesis) and reverb (Specular Tempus) are external as well running thru the Stomp FX loop. Using modulation effects (chorus, trem, vibrato) from the HX and everything is routed to midi controller (Musicomlab) where I can change patches on the stomp, control my overdrives, and turn on/off modulation effects from the stomp. I also use an expression pedal plugged into the stomp that is controlling the Specular’s wet level via midi. Since my Stomp is at the end, I just use a balanced TRS to go straight into the house without a DI. The HX is brilliantly compact with a ton of firepower. The one thing left for me to experiment with is moving the effects block before the amp, as opposed to after the amp block. I’ve heard somebody like a David Giraldo say that he’s had a lot of success doing it this way which I’d prefer just like a real amp situation going into the front.
I’ve been doing this for a year- drives up front and delay/ reverb in the loop. Love the flexibility it gives to run the whole board into an amp or go direct depending on the situation. The stereo options also make it an incredible solution for headphones practice
I use an hx stomp for amps and some effects. My signal path is tuner>drives>volume>left input of stomp> out of fx loop send with an EBS stereo TRS to dual TR cable with dd-500>jet revelation> stereo return to hx stomp. I primarily use your Cartographer patch to do this. Though I don't think the delay in the updated Cartographer is stereo so maybe I'll cut that since I have the dd-500 and save the DSP. Something I've done instead of turning up the mix of my pedals in the fx loop is cut the input gain by 3 or so db, then boost the output gain by 5db. Helps the fx in the loop remain clear and present.
This is turning into my plan after a year playing my Headrush pedalboard. Use the pedalboard for the gain & amps, and pedals for modulation, delays, and reverbs. It's the best of both worlds!
I’m running morning star ml5 looper into the stomp. I have an merc 7 and a ua golden reverberator running in the stomps effects loop this is all controlled by an mc6. I wish I could figure out how to get the MC6 to stop flashing one preset let's say a delay in the boss, when I turn on another preset that changes banks and patches on the boss. Your pedalboard inspired my mc6 purchase though. Thanks!
Running the HX Stomp with the PBC 6x switcher and other pedals… allows you to move from the end of your chain (acting as an amp at church direct) or earlier in the chain for different effects and plug into an amp (at home)

If that's all you do, and use headphones for practicing, try out the podgo. hx stomp is perfect for integrating other pedal sounds, interfacing, more small sized etc. Hope this helps

Yeah that's a great way to go. People mostly assume that Stomp is meant to replace amps (at least I think they do), but it does so, so much more. And one of the things Stomp/Line 6 does particularly well is the overdrive models. We've compared them to the actual pedals quite a bit, and they're crazy close.

Hey Brian, very helpful video!! I’m new to the pedalboard world with HX Stomp, and I’ve been seeing things about buffers. Do you use a buffer before and after your pedalboard rig? And I know some pedals have them built in.

Sure! We could do that. The same principles would apply, but we can show off how awesome it sounds. Fractal’s routing options are different (actually a lot more powerful and flexible), so it would be worth talking about that too.
@@worshiptutorials yeah I was thinking about how much power the AxeFX has and how much you can do with complex signal routing, even the FM units are really powerful, but you could do some special things with the big AxeFX
at 8:07, why would you need to duplicate the amp? you didn't change the amp settings for path B. So, couldn't you just use 1 amp block and have the split AFTER it with the 2 different IR block on each path? that would save a block, or am I missing something.
If you have a stereo signal going into Stomp, using a single amp block will sum it to mono. So you have to use two amp blocks to retain the stereo image from your effects.
super cool video thx! i run my drive pedals into effect loop of the helix. another effect loop i use a boss rc500 looper (including drums). drive pedals in the beginning of the chain and looper at the end. something wrong with this setup in your opinion?
I need help/input: I use a external preamp pedal as my amp. I use an IR for my cab. So my pedal has to either be pre stomp or in the effects loop. I love th sound when it’s in the loop at the end of the chain with the IR. I usually run it with a wet dry dual path. BUT I want to add a stereo reverb pedal (jet revelation) in the loop. The obvious problem is that the preamp is already taking up one return. Should I just run the revelation as mono? Should I run the preamp before thr stomp leaving the revelation as stereo? Or run the preamp in the fx loop into the revelation into the hx as both stereo and into two IRs which wouldn’t be wet dry. Basically it’s a decision of wet dry vs stereo wet.
Thanks for the vid! Just curious about something. I'm planning on running my Stomp as AMPS + IR, and using the stereo send/return vto use a 2nd gain overdrive + specular tempus. Is it best to place the external pedals before OR after the amps? Many say it sounds best after, but it sounds just fine on this video, even though it's before. Look forward to the responce!
I run all three of my OD's into the FX loop so I can move them around in my patches. More often than not, I run my volume+wah pedals into the HX, compressor in the stomp, FX loop ODs, and then my amp/wet fx. I also have a delay and verb after the HX output in stereo and I love the setup!
Can someone Help me.Basically I am doing the exact thing Bryan is doing.Have One Amp and IR on top and another amp and IR on bottom have A panned left and B panned right on both The In signal and Out Signal but I still only here an amp sound in my Left ear.I could rly use some help
serious question: why the emphasis on 'worship', in "worship tutorials"? is that such a specific music style that it sets itself apart from other styles, in a guitar tone way?
what if i have a stereo effects setup in front of the hx stomp.. and in the stomp i have one amp and one IR in the end of the signal chain.. does it still count as Stereo or sum to mono?
Yes for sure. FM3 cannot run two amp blocks, so you can’t run a stereo board into it and retain stereo imaging. So you’d have to run FM3 so that the amp block is in front of any stereo effects.
Hi! Do you have a....beginners guide on how to record videos like this....gear, set up, etc..that'd be a cool tutorial...thanks!!!! @worshiptutorials..

I know you've done the video with Brad's board and the AxeFX, any plans to revisit the AxeFX with pedals again? In a more informative style like this?
I'm thinking about grabbing one of these. How well does it handle being a stand alone
Is there any difference using the fx loops vs coming out through the stereo effects???
super cool video thx! i run my drive pedals into effect loop of the helix. another effect loop i use a boss rc500 looper (including drums). drive pedals in the beginning of the chain and looper at the end. something wrong with this setup in your opinion?
I need help/input:
I use a external preamp pedal as my amp.
If you wanna use this set up live, can you only go through FOH? There is no input for your own monitors also. What can you do?
yes this.
What about when you are required to run through the sound board with no amp?
Do ALL of your blocks have to be stereo to remain stereo or can use use mono blocks into stereo blocks? Thx
Once you start stereo you need to keep it stereo or it will sum.
Can someone Help me.Basically I am doing the exact thing Bryan is doing.Have One Amp and IR on top and another amp and IR on bottom have A panned left and B panned right on both The In signal and Out Signal but I still only here an amp sound in my Left ear.I could rly use some help
I realized while watching this that if I close my eyes, you sound a lot like Chris Pratt!
HX Stomp is saying make space for me!!!
serious question: why the emphasis on 'worship', in "worship tutorials"? is that such a specific music style that it sets itself apart from other styles, in a guitar tone way?
Yes
what if i have a stereo effects setup in front of the hx stomp.. and in the stomp i have one amp and one IR in the end of the signal chain.. does it still count as Stereo or sum to mono?
If you have a single IR block, it will sum. If you use the stereo IR block and load the same IR in both sides, you’ll retain the stereo image.
what is your volume pedal??
Does this work as well with the FM3?
Yes for sure. FM3 cannot run two amp blocks, so you can’t run a stereo board into it and retain stereo imaging. So you’d have to run FM3 so that the amp block is in front of any stereo effects.
Uh oh Kemper secrets coming out 🤪
Will we finally see a new Kemper?
"edge of breakup"
Meanwhile: full on distortion
Lol
Nice try. So. I thank you. But the video is Disjointed and without a map. As such, I can't follow.
Hi! Do you have a....beginners guide on how to record videos like this....gear, set up, etc..that'd be a cool tutorial...thanks!!!! @worshiptutorials..
