And how are these wind turbines disposed of at the end of their useful service ? Is there a recycling program on place that is ecologically friendly or do they simply get buried in a landfill to contaminate the ground with heavy metal is and chemicals from their pain, coatings and mechanical components? Not to mention the carbon footprint to manufacture, transport and erect the turbines?
Most wind turbine blades currently in use today are made of fiberglass. They can be recycled, but often are not because of the intense amount of energy fiberglass recycling requires. The blades need to be heated to 700+ degrees F to separate the materials. It's expensive and has a huge carbon footprint so they usually end up in a landfill (or falling off the turbine and sinking into the ocean in the case of offshore operations). Some blades have been recycled for things like overhangs at bus stops in the UK. There are bioplastics in development that recycle at a much lower temperature (still in excess of 450F). And just a note on the birds being killed, house cats collectively kill thousands more birds each year than wind turbines so it's kind of silly they are spending so much time talking about it.
Hi ML L Vestas (I think the largest wind turbine manufacturer) has actually recently announced, that they have found a way to re-use the material the wings are made from fiber glass + epoxy, for new wings (at an unknown rate).... but even if that is true, the process will obvously not be cheap in any capacity.... and even if it was a 1 to 1 gain overall, wind energy is _never_ going to power the planet. Read my post above.
The Bats are dying from the wind turbines messing with the barometric pressure. The do not have any physical injuries The are not flying into the turbines They are having internal hemorrhaging.
If wind generated electricity is so reliable why did the 20 % wind capacity go down in the first hour of the Febr. ice storm in Texas in 2011? Over 200 deaths occurred as a result of the failure of the power grid. Not one person was held responsible. Not only is it unreliable it could not survive without massive tax paid subsidies. Texans have paid out more than $39 billion in subsidies for green power. Abandonment of wind farms is going to create massive environmental as well as physical dangers when they cease to be productive. Wyoming is the only state that had the foresight to require bonds be established to demolish these behemoths once they have outlived their usefulness. Pity the poor landowners in other states who will have to live with deteriorating junk on their property which the project builders will walk away from laughing all the way to the bank. I've never been able to find what the true carbon footprint is related to the construction of one wind turbine from the time the parts are removed from ships until the turbine starts generating electricity. It takes about 20 semi-tractors to haul the parts and each truck unit is accompanied by two pilot cars. Then you have the equipment required to erect the turbines. If you had done a cost benefit analysis you might not have recorded this missive that contains very little truth.
@@jtkrpm1 Please tell me. How much energy does it take to manufacture and transport a single wind turbine? Then compare that to the energy generated over a typical wind turbine lifetime. Assume we're talking about any 15MW wind turbine. You'll find that your statement is hilariously wrong.
@@JohnDunne001 tell me how a wind turbine can exist without fossil fuels. Or battery's. So, instead of just using the energy from, say, coal. To power a home. You use said energy to manufacture a wind turbine, that then, creates power?
@@jtkrpm1 We're a long way off making fossil fuels obsolete. Till then, we can cut back. Ending fossil fuels in a decade or two is unrealistic. Wind power has huge potential and is being improved upon leaps and bounds as a speak.
Anybody thinking that "pure air" can power an entire nation must be out of their mind.
They need to look at "color" "speed" "lighting" "sound" there has to be something we can do and still make money...
you are off grid" goof. Its a technology trap. Regulators, activists, cony-contractors and unions will always find something to spend our money on.

@Will Swift OH Please! Follow the money. So much of the subsidies went into the pockets of politicians the subsidies aren't going away.
Yep destroy an ecosystem
To be eco friendly?
The gyro wind turbine has smashed Betz limit please watch youtube video regards Graham Flowers
Another scam 🤑🤑🤑🤑
The entire video doesn't answer the question.. birds and bats dying ... Understood... But why Wind energy is not sustainable???
No, it is not. It takes more energy to manufacture, transport, and install than they produce in their lifetime.

It's a clickbait video. The clue was Elon Musk and a negative statement about wind turbines. I still watched it out of curiosity :D

Crapolla.
Is not eco frienfly, they are eyesores and the installers should be put in jail
