Got a '22 7 GT. Proper little tourer. Done 2 trips to Spain and 2 to Wales. 8500m in 18m. Averaging 65 to the gal giving 200 mile range. No problem doing 4 hour stretches and I'm 60 year old. I have added a top box, heated grips, screen extender, engine bars and foglights. The OEM michelin P4's look as though they will go 20K miles. Cannot fault it
@@RadarsRadicalRides All depends how you ride. Mostly commuting into London, I get about 13,000 out of a front and then replace the pair with some life left on the rear.
I had a GS but getting older found it heavy. Got a Tracer 7 GT and love it. I can get high 60’s to 70 mpg out of it. Went touring to France on it too. Panniers ok for clothes but i have a top box too which my helmet fits in
Your reviews are great to watch because of your enthousiasm. Too bad you didn't ride the tracer 7 in good weather. With a dry road and more leanangle you wil love the tracer 7 even more. Then it can play out its wonderfull handling and cp2 strength at its best. I think its my best bike in 37 years of riding.
I imagine what Kate meant is that for bikes such as Tracer 7 with power output of 72bhp, The mode option would be unecessary and add to the end user price hence 'having modes for the sake of modes'
@@MrMoto4u That’s also how I seeit. I however even go one step further then Kate does: If a bike needs modes to make it controllable for the average rider, in other words to keep people from ending in hedges, it is too powerful. This sort of bike actually very much hits the sweetspot. My ideal is max 80 bhp, about 80 Nm and max 180 kg fully tanked. Nobody needs more to have fun on public roads. And by the way: Modes are not very expensive. They basically use a lookup table to let the engine react to specific (ride by wire) throttle grip positions. It needs very little processor power and not even much development effort but is sold as revolutionary hightech.
Don't know about "rider modes" but traction control offers an extra degree of safety no matter how much HP a bike might have or how experienced the rider may or may not have!
@@Gmac237 Just came back from a trip to Spain where a rented '23 Opel Corsa regularly had its own way of interpreting rider input. The way it refused to increase speed under certain conditions, like motorway hills, was very dangerous as far as I am concerned. I'd rather trust the software in my head. 🙂
Don't know much about riding a Opel Corsa? I'm talking about riding a motorcycle without a safety feature as important as "Traction Control" as is the case on the Tracer 7 It's an expensive bike and should have been included.I note Yamaha have been listening to customers and the 2025 model will have traction control along with a range of rider aids fitted !
I bought the exact bike in June 2023. Done over 4000 miles on it. I love it. My only gripe is that the average MPG on the dash has a mind of its own. I estimate that i get about 50 MPG but the dash is currently showing 94 MPG. At one point it was saying 299.9 🤣😂 The panniers come in handy but are a bit too wide for commuting and a bit small inside for anything substantial due to the shape.
Hi Kate, it is a good looking little bike, I think you summed it up really well, mini tourer and commuter, it makes perfect sense, especially if touring without a pillion, and if we are honest do we really need much more power on our busy pot hole strewn roads. Thank you.
Lovely bike. I've the 2016 non GT version. Lots of little mods - she's gorgeous. Happy on all-weather commutes, lively and fun in the twisties. Light enough too at 196kg. Dont want a 230kg 100HP+ behemoth - never been one to follow a trend anyway.
Hi Kate I have e a 2020tracer 700 love it did 2500 mile down to monaco and back in 5 days four 500 mile days not a problem averaged 68 mpg perfect for solo touring great fun on the route napoleon in to monaco .I've no need for high power bikes anymore it has a good turn of speed when required.and it doesn't weigh as much as a small car when I'm getting it out of the garage
I have a 2023 tracer 7 and it did 1:23.5 l/km my first 2000 km's. In summer I think it wil use a bit more, because I think I wil be driving faster then. There is a big difference on the highway between riding 110 km/h or 140 km/h. When driving faster the fuel consumption wil be more around 1/20. Still not bad, but around 110 km/h it is easy 1:23 l/km. I have been riding motorbikes for 37 years now, from which a lot with more than 1000 cc, but this tracer 7 delivers more fun than I had in a long time. Not missing power or torque at all. It feels much stronger then it is on paper.
Hi Kate. Glad that you liked it. I have a 2018 non-GT and it is a great bike. It has the same spec as a GT + heated grips but minus the comfort seat. Touring is effortless and returns 75/80mpg if ridden within speed limits or just above. Had an MT07 for 5 years before the tracer and just love these engines for the low down power. I also weigh just over 9 stone and that helps with economy I think. Keep safe.
So pleased you like 'the bike that time forgot'. Pity the weather was so poor. It's a belter on dry roads, too. Forget the fact it aint got modes, just ride the bike. Awesome!😎🏴

Hi Kate, as an annual euro tourer who has used GS1200,s I am looking forward to using the tracer 7 gt this year and bought because it is so light compared to anything else, will let you know how I get on!
Hi Kate, Awesome motor in those bikes the CP2 like you say has enough power for all the UK legal road speeds & enough to make overtaking a simple thing to do. A very well summed up review thank you 😊
It’s always nice to see places that are local to me in videos like this. Scout road, Belmont, bit of a ride over Rivvy and the lay-by just before the turn off to Tockholes. 👍🏻
Sat watching this in Madeira on holiday, only 23 degrees😎. Ex GS1250 owner here now riding a Multi V2S, the mid range bikes are seriously underrated most especially because of light handling and useable power. Even though I ride an expensive Ducati I think less than 120bhp is plenty for the road.
Now that is a nice looking bike. If I wasn't a "Honda" man I'd seriously consider it. The Panniers are a tad to wide. I'd opt for soft Panniers. Great video Kate.
@9:37 try to buy or DYI a spiral cord harness for the keis. It's so nice to be able to get up on the pegs without having half a meter of cable dangling afterwards, or in case you forget to disconnect before dismounting, those spiral cords stretch a lot.
Well done Kate. How refeshing to see a bike review in awful weather. I am retired now but spent many years commuting to work on a motorbike in all weathers. Seeing how a bike copes with inclement weather is useful information. My current bike is a Honda NC750X so I enjoyed your Canary Motorcycle Tours ride on the NC. Would love to see a review of that bike.

That means they never checked for working brakes, clutch, transmission, scrubbed tires in, etc. Friends shop always did that, surprising on one bike no fifth gear, another break problems. Only can be sorted on test ride after assembly.
I won’t judge you, I’ve got cold hands because I can’t be bothered with the cables! So please tell me if I should get the Keis gloves to go with my Keis gillet… I’ve been put off because of the cable faff to run them down my arms, please advise… Keep up the good work Kate

I’ve got a new to me 2020 year model that I bought this summer with 10k miles on the clock. Put a few thousand on it before proper winter started here in Sweden. I’m very happy with the bike, get about 3,8-4,2/100km commuting with the odd excursion with the boy on the back. A couple of things: I’m happy I have the LCD as I wonder what the TFT would have given me. Bike doesn’t need it imo. Neither does it need rider modes or TC, not really. Cruise control? Maybe. But I get along with a cramp buster, ask me again after this summers touring. Don’t see the point of getting the GT spec tbh. The Yamaha Panniers are IMO too small and the touring screen isn’t that great. Mates of mine report that the ‘comfort’ seat is anything but. So I bought some Shad and a cheap mesh seat cover. What the bike really needs are fender extenders front and back and a centre stand/cotton reels. All simple bolt on parts really as it’s a great bike to start with even for me at 6’5”.
Just has this actual bike out for a spin whilst my own is in for a service at Paddock. Was pleasantly surprised. First off, it actually felt too small when I threw my leg over it (I'm 6ft 1" with long legs). But once riding, it felt just right. Engine is loads of fun, nice and punchy. Was great to have wind protection over my MT09. The seat felt really nice and I think I could stay on it longer than my MT09 without stopping. Gearbox was nice, clutch was smooth and easy to use. However, my big gripe with it was the brakes. Now I know Yams aren't renowned for their brakes, but they felt really wooden and not very powerful. Other than that, a great little bike. Oh and yes, that menu wheel is crap. Have it on my bike it's almost impossible to use when riding and very stiff.
Bloody hell your a busy bee, i always like your honesty too. I'm about the same size as you but unfortunately i haven't seen 9st since I were about 14. 👍
I've no idea what a stone is...apart from a rock...we Scots were educated in metric for over the last 50yrs...old Fireblade was 185kg dry,the benchmark to what all bikes/riders compare with!(petrol 700g/litre...what it is in Libby's and Ozzie's,no idea either).
I'm terribly sorry about that. But 2 things about your comment don't go together. Scot's and educated. But I bet when you go to the pub you have a pint not a litre?
I'd have bought one last year for my europe touring, but a deal breaker for me is no cruise control. Great video Kate, in those conditions. They make em tough up north 😂
Available...stop being miserable, a new Tracer7 can be had for less than £7500, C/C is £650...so what do you get with that tank range for touring for approx £8Grand??
If ok please say what helmet you use...Choices are fewer in larger sizes. I use HJC CL-SP 3XL 64-65. I tried s Simpson Venom but it was nearly as big as my bike in my size and very noisy. Thanks
Totally agree with you about this mode nonsense, my sdr stays in the fastest available mode, with regards to those side winds, I remember being blown across 2 lanes on the M4 just after emerging from behind the sand dunes at Porthcawl and was instantly exposed to the wind coming off the sea. In fairness there is a large orange wind sock to warn drivers but I was young and daft and didn't notice it. Luckily the road was quiet, I have been warey of riding faired bikes in the wind ever since
I traded my tracer 700 2018 model in and my choice was either the tracer 7 GT or the world raid and I just could not resist the world raid. Which is an excellent bike.but the tracers are very good.
Another brilliant review, i keep thinking Yamaha needs to do Yamaha Blue and Silver or the old 90s Yamaha colours again. We need more stock bikes that have weird purple and green graphics with blue paint and gold and black graphics with white paint lol.
As someone who finds all this modern tec so boring i like the minimum approach this bike has, its got everything you need and at a price that's much easier on the wallet than the bigger bikes like the GS. Living near you i know how open it gets over Belmont, nice in the summer but middle of winter, not so much.
Don’t like the blue colour with gold wheels, really? I have have just got one and I’m really upset by your comment 😂. Seriously, great review, my bike has just 195 miles on the clock due to the weather and other stuff. Ride safe.
I see you are now using keis heated gear instead of the Gerbing heated gear is there a reason you have changed I am looking at getting heated gear and would be interested to know your thoughts

from a group of Transalp 750, Tuareg 660, BMW F850GS ('24) and Tracer 7GT, the Yamaha could be the best manageable for short riders, what do you think?
I am also short, with an inside seam of 29 inches. So I wanted to how you fit and liked the bike. Wish you had rode on a dry day, so you didn't have to ride so carefully.
My GT has done 600 miles and so far averaging nearly 66mpg, I’m 13.5 stone so a tad heavy, 6 foot tall and get wind noise from the screen unfortunately.
Despite my aversion to Yamaha, this model actually does look quite nice, especially from the back, and even the handguards are slick and agreeable..., however that windscreen looks very much like a (bad+ugly) afterthought! But, having listened to what you're surprisingly, and positivly reporting here, it is a bike I would at least give the chance of a test ride, before eventually dumping it into the bin of Yamaha rejects! Over the years, I have never really known anybody in my wider group of biker accquiances to have been over the moon with his Yamaha (any model) or Yammy experiences, and this has certainly been the reason for my looking away from anything with a Yamaha badge on it... although my Yamaha Bass guitar has been with me for several years now... but that's another story!!
@@ianhalliwell8604 Of course reliability should be at the top of the list, but who wants a reliable bike, if it's not got the looks that make you feel you've just gotta get on it and go? And the majority of Yammys don't have them looks for me, nor a good reputation in my neck of the woods. Sorry.

@@trevjones1315 A nip actually...though I don't drink our own
I'd have bought one last year for my europe touring, but a deal breaker for me is no cruise control. Great video Kate, in those conditions. They make em tough up north 😂
Available...stop being miserable, a new Tracer7 can be had for less than £7500, C/C is £650...so what do you get with that tank range for touring for approx £8Grand??
Happy New Year Kate!
Which do you think is the best sub 10 grand touring adventure bike 😊
HEY👋, Kate, thank's for the good vidéo, Happy New Year 🎉❤🫶🙏🌞, Have A Nice Season, They care, ride safe 1✌️😘
Great review, I have a 2023 Tracer 9GT, which has a lot more tech, would love to see you test ride one, and get your opinion?
Bigger swede, yep me 63/64 lid look like a bloody lolly pop. Good work, happy new year
If ok please say what helmet you use...Choices are fewer in larger sizes.
"Oh what a day....What a lovely day ! " 💨🌧 Not for me but TY 😊
It's a very handsome bike in black! As you say, manageable dimensions too!
I've been looking for the Tracer7GT or the CFMoto MT700... but you kinda convincing me to go for the Tracer :-)
Another brilliant review, i keep thinking Yamaha needs to do Yamaha Blue and Silver or the old 90s Yamaha colours again. We need more stock bikes that have weird purple and green graphics with blue paint and gold and black graphics with white paint lol.
Hei Ka Nice tour video in Dim Rainy weather ☁️ I think you have enjoyed a lot.i liked your video 🎉
Great video Kate! and a very nice bike.
Sounds amazing
Dont know why this comment it here when i was watching triumph rs video, weird
As someone who finds all this modern tec so boring i like the minimum approach this bike has, its got everything you need and at a price that's much easier on the wallet than the bigger bikes like the GS. Living near you i know how open it gets over Belmont, nice in the summer but middle of winter, not so much.
Yeah, it's gets a bit miserable over there in winter!
I got my son a Ninja 300 with 2300 miles on it. It is his first bike.
I owned this bike in '21 and after putting 8700mi (14k km) on it I averaged 74 UK mpg (3.8l/100km).
Thanks for sharing these stats :)
great review, thank you
Is the seat better than the Tenere? Friend of mine has a Tenere and it’s brilliant apart from the seat, which is only useful as a form of torture.
Great review.
Side winds are the Devils work!👹
Rubbish aren't they!
Don’t like the blue colour with gold wheels, really? I have have just got one and I’m really upset by your comment 😂. Seriously, great review, my bike has just 195 miles on the clock due to the weather and other stuff. Ride safe.
Another belter
Legend. Thanks!! 😊
I wonder what it's like to ride double on this bike?
I see you are now using keis heated gear instead of the Gerbing heated gear is there a reason you have changed I am looking at getting heated gear and would be interested to know your thoughts
No reason, just like to try new things. Both equally good that i'm finding so far in terms of heat but i do like the ease of use of the keis.
Preeeetty useles that windshield on raining time from what i see.Good to see ya girl
Kate your braver than me, even being Scottish stuff going riding in the rain 😂
My one lives in the Kitchen in Scotland...hopefully be back in it's Spanish winter storage shortly...€19/mth,best money spent over winter,a trip round the Balearics at Xmas is my usual...didn't have a truck going to Spain there!
ok nice , you have tested manny bikes , but can you make a U turn on a road of 20 feet ?
I press a button and the stabilisers come out :D
Out of all the bikes you've ridden, which one best fits your type of riding?
from a group of Transalp 750, Tuareg 660, BMW F850GS ('24) and Tracer 7GT, the Yamaha could be the best manageable for short riders, what do you think?
I'd agree with that statement 👍
I am also short, with an inside seam of 29 inches. So I wanted to how you fit and liked the bike. Wish you had rode on a dry day, so you didn't have to ride so carefully.
Wow nice bike.
Looks like a really nice motorcycle. Would I swap it for a Triumph Tiger 1050 SE in grey?.
........
No
Is it also available in rain cloud grey? 😄
Just love blending in with the dismal scenery haha
My GT has done 600 miles and so far averaging nearly 66mpg, I’m 13.5 stone so a tad heavy, 6 foot tall and get wind noise from the screen unfortunately.
good review of good ujm
first 🥇😎😘 good Morning! Yamaha 💪 XSR 900 🎉🍀🎆 typical England weather 😁
In the latest manufacturers reliability survey Yamaha came top with Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki not far behind.
@@ianhalliwell8604 Of course reliability should be at the top of the list, but who wants a reliable bike, if it's not got the looks that make you feel you've just gotta get on it and go? And the majority of Yammys don't have them looks for me, nor a good reputation in my neck of the woods. Sorry.
Suzuki best longterm bike, all those WEC wins mean something, Yamaha are up there,Toyota, the World's most reliable car manufacturer, don't use Yamaha designed and built engines for nothing...if Toyota trusts them, so should you...Honda are the worst Japanese bikes, they just can't do electrics...mates CB600 fried his electric in under 600mls,so it's not just old Hondas
Still waiting for you to ride my xadv 😌
Tracer 7 not listed on US website. Too bad, it's another Yamaha that seems way more appealing now that I've seen you on it. Dweeb? I don't think so.
Wow that was blowing you side ways .
Wonderful great British weather 🥲
Ok, ok... you win.
Who doesn’t love a cold and wet ride? 🥶😆
Unfortunately it seems to be the only available at the moment 🤣
@@UsernameKate very true, but at least our Keis gear is keeping us warm 😊♨️
Oh matron!, oh behave! 😉
well, there is that!! :)
That lost any kind of double meaning for me when the word cold was used LOL
I don't think they have these in the US
They don't 👎
French built...Tenere factory
Too bad it seems like a very nice touring bike
Uauu 😰🙏
# 홧팅 🍒🙆♂️))
Judgment cityyyyy 😆
🤣🤣🤣
'connect your 'phone to the bike'. Why, on Gods green Earth would anyone want to use a telephone on their motorbike? I ride my bike to escape everything, except the bike and road. A telephone is the last thing I want on my bike.
Judgement Day? If you, with an objective and well-informed critical faculty, can appreciate a bike that much in such atrocious conditions then it's gotta be good. Looks to me like an eminently practical all-rounder, or in France, _polyvalent_.
As for your being a 'dweeb' (a person who is physically and socially awkward and has little confidence (Cambridge Dictionary)) I doubt many here would agree. All the best for 2024.
A touring/commuter bike with no cruise control diminishes the point of the intended use of the bike.😅
C/C is £650...stop being so tight...it's built to a budget, and can be had for £8500 less than a Tracer 900GT +...2 x Tracer7s
@williamrae9954 Cruise control isn't an option you donut!. And retrofitting voids warranty. No bike in this segment offers cruise. This is why I push people to buy used bikes. A 2018 Tracer 900GT is 7k and has, Cruise, quickshifter. Reliability, etc. 1050XT Strom, 7.5k.
@williamrae9954 Buying a bike new is also very stupid. Especially when it's going to lose 20-30% of its value within the first year.
@@inked-96 STFU...I'm Biker#1 up here,I've done it all,from racing to design and manufacture...a Yamaha Tracer7 is a MT07 in a different dress,look up the McCruise website "donut",what's available for £650???
