Great way to communicate, from now on I’m a new subscriber. I bought the homestead kit on Dec 31st for 50% off, $240 out the door for the whole kit: testudo gen 3, plates, belt and pouches. As a civilian I’m not jumping from helicopters or carrying it all day under the Middle East’s sun. Great value for me
Great OCD review! Some points of clarity: The Large Testudo Gen 3 can house 11"x14" and 10"x12" plates, as you stated several times. Those that get the Medium size will only be able to utilize 10"x12" plates and not the 11"x14" plates. The rubber pull tabs on the carrier are Hypalon, which is a chlorosulfonated polyethylene synthetic rubber that is the same type of material used in the skirts for hovercrafts. Hypalon is highly resistant to chemicals, temperature extremes, and ultraviolet light as well as being extremely durable and resistant to tearing and even cutting. The front cummerbund flap has Velcro loop for the ability to be compatible with some chest rigs that attach with Swift Clips on the vertical molle on the upper chest and to the Velcro on the flap. 👍
really like the idea of your channel doing ocd stuff. gonna give u a follow. my question was, i see on the website they offer a medium and large. but don't state dimensions. the carrier i have now is a bit bigger on me and i want something more snug
@@AndrewHenson-y7l thanks. Means tons. I’d contact them to double check but in believe the medium can’t accept the 11x14 and will have a smaller cummerbund. Ie more snug. So the dimension would be the 10x12 plate. In theory. Def give em a hassle. They were very communicative when I had questions.
Great review Sir. Very comprehensive. have gen 2 and just purchased gen 3 mainly for the QD. thanks for the honest pros cons. Stay safe warrior. Sue Esponte !!
Great video! After a bunch of research, Just ordered the Gen 3 "Appalachia" kit. XL, woodland camo (always loved the pattern). Comes with 2 pistol mag pouches, 3 rifle mag pouches, and dump pouch. The price after code 'NKBC' was like $205. I added two 11" A2 plates. Totaled $425 after shipping with code. It's a lot of money, but I'm hoping it'll be quality stuff that will last a long time. Buy once, cry once (hopefully).
Be mindful of the fact that steel armor will spall if it's shots and the spall liner will only do so much to catch it so there is the risk you'll get spall going into your neck and head. The chances of most people getting shot is extremely low but it's still a thing to keep in mind compared to ceramic plates.
Just bought the Gen 3 in woodland. Plan to make a few mods to wear this under a chest rig for property patrol and community patrols later on (like rural communities have to do in modern South Africa). Also plan to purchase a flat hydration pouch from Beez Combat Systems to throw on the back so I can sit in vehicles or wear a pack. 🤙
I believe they make a gen3 adapter kit to make the gen 2 cumberbuns into a gen 3 quick relese. at least the video said so, but it has been a month so you probably already have it
New that old school Rhodesians double stack mag carriers. Might be a little more weight, but I definitely can stay in the fight a little longer. My current plate carrier is a counseled one. Soft plate.
As mentioned I just received mine and I’m definitely gonna have to make mods. The cummerbund is too short, way too short. I’m gonna have to order bungee cord to replace the short cut ones already installed in the back. This thing won’t fit without plates let alone side plates and an interior radio pouch I plan to put in. Also plan to swap out with woodland HSGI shoulder pads to make it easier to wear a regular chest rig over it
Looks good but is it worth the money . I just scrounged up enough to get my wife some steel plates and trauma pads. Now I need a plate carrier but 300$ is a lot of mula
@@JR-ld1et I get it. Ditto. I’m broke af and had to save up like a kid mowing lawns for my gear. This is the lowest price one that doesn’t sacrifice quality imo. There are cheaper no name brand ones but they are typically for your paintballing crowd. This is the cheapest one I found that met my needs/standards. The other one I reviewed is several hundred more.

Thanks for this review. I just bought their homestead kit that is on the gen 3 testudo plate carrier. I’m stoked. 👌

I didn’t see any black multi cam options on their website. If Betty doesn’t like it, lmk 😅
@@kdsocr lol. Yeah. I just checked too. Straight up not even an option even if sold out. Interesting.

No hate but should’ve saved for a bit longer and spent the dough on ceramics
@ fact
This company makes garbage plate carriers.. Buy something else!
I mean for the everyday person they hold up really well i have one for working out and it is just sweaty but no damage and i beat the shit out of it.
