  • Hello everyone!
Here we go again with another AOT episode :)
I would just like to clarify that I will rewatch season 4 pt.1 because I hate the fact that I feel so confused about everything (I have understand everything in the first 3 seasons + have watched it 3 times LOL but since the start of season 4 I have to admit that I have lost the track of Eren's and Zeke's goal).
My sister and brother have watched AOT only once and so they haven't rewatched the seasons like I did which can also explain their confusion haha
I should be fine and up to track by this Sunday and would be able to express more in details my thoughts on everything! I don't like the fact that I can't express myself as I would love to because this anime is truly my everything...
Thank you for your understanding and for loving out reactions it does mean a lot to us :)
    Hope you enjoyed x

Think of Eren as a camera this episode. Whenever Grisha looks at Eren, he doesn't actually see Eren but rather, he see himself, he's looking at Eren's POV which is why he always looked so shock, because there's a lingering feeling of someone watching his every move, someone from the future. And the only reason he saw Zeke was because Eren stayed behind them, allowing the two to have a moment.
The Attack Titan allows the user to see the future memories of their inheritors BUT, it's up to Eren which memories he wants to show his father.

I think it's not just that, there is also selfish reasons because Eren hates being not free and I think that's his leading goal, to be free from all walls. But feeling responsible for the Eldians inside the wall is definetely a big part of his motivation.

The real concern I've noticed is that people are already used to classic Manichean shonen scenarios where you have the bad guys on one side and the good guys on the other. So when you put them in a setup where the motivations of the characters are more nuanced, a storyline more complex, more subtle, where everyone has justified reasons for doing what they're doing, they're going to try to simplify as much as possible the point of the author, in order to return to a Manichean analysis of the situation. This process allows you not to rack your brains too much and to choose a bad guy to hate and a good guy to worship. Because things are easier to understand that way.
But the other chose which is paradoxical is that in some cases people can accept heinous scenarios almost unanimously, and others refuse the same in another setting. I take the example of itachi in the manga Naruto. It is almost unanimous that people appreciate this character, even if he ordered the massacre of all his clan, he says he did it for the common cause (stopping a civil war incited by the Uchiha clan). In this massacre, many innocent people who had not asked for anything and who were not even aware of the plot organized by the clan leaders, died (women and children). Itachi though is a character adored by the community as he committed horrific crimes (keep that in mind, women and children maybe even babies were killed that night) and everything this under cover of saving the village. The irony is that he joined a horrible plan like this when other ways out of the crisis could be found. Paradoxically Eren who commits a massacre of the same kind certainly on a larger scale but always of the same kind to save his people, he is considered evil and Itachi as a savior. On the other hand, some criticize Eren for the fact that beyond wanting to save paradise, it is also for his selfish motives that he executed the rumbling. Even those same people discount the fact that Itachi is one of the most selfish in his motivation to slaughter his clan. Because yes, he felt for his own good that his little brother Sasuke's life was worth saving and that many other innocent Uchiha's (including children and babies) weren't worth it and should be taken. Itachi is just as much a selfish devil as Eren who thinks they have done heinous things for the good cause. But for the community he's cool and Eren is mean. All of this leads me to believe that it is the paradox of human reasoning that makes our world as bad as it is. It's one thing not to share someone's ideology, but it's quite another to bestow upon them the title of villain. Since there are none in Attack on Titan, there are only people who fight for an ideal in varying degrees.

Eren hasn't done this for himself. He's doing it for the survival of his people and his closest friends. He lied to Mikasa and beat up Armin to create distance between them, because he didn't want his friends to be associated with him when he eventually does what he has to do. His care for his people can be seen when Zeke is about to scream and Eren says "Wait!" with a panicked tone cos he didn't want all of those people to die. But he keeps moving forward because he has seen the future and knows trying to stop it is pointless.

@@ndongengone7284 Right. That's actually a very good comparison, because both Itachi and Eren are morally complex characters that do bad things for seemingly good reasons. It's true that in AOT, everyone has good reasons to do what they do and also everyone is wrong and right at the same time. Who you root for in AOT is completely up to your own morals and your own POV, which is why I can understand why Eren is disliked even though I agree with him. I do also believe, though, that people shouldn't blindly hate on either Eren or Zeke or Marley cos AOT isn't that simple. Even if you dislike Eren, I think you should be able to at least understand him and sympathize with him a little.

he keeps moving forward. the scene in S4 eps 10, where hanji interogates eren, but got backfired by eren. in that scene eren threatened hanji and ask her. he said "HANJI, YOU GOT SUMTHING ON YOUR SLEEVES, IS THERE ANY PLAN TELL ME!" instead of answering his question, hanji just answered 'YOU STIIL IN REBELION MODE AREN'T YOU, EREN YOU PERVERT!" and then she ran away, she's just abandoned her responsibilty as the comander. in the jail scene, eren can leave whenever he wanted, but he refuses to do it. because he' waiting for survey corps to tell him about their plan, but eventually they didnt have it till now. so eren went rogue and join zekes plan to achieve his own goals

Eren did NOT know everything from the moment he got the Attack Titan. He saw bits of past memories over the series like we saw. He also had flashes of the future he didn't understand in episode 1 when he was sleeping under that tree, but he didn't understand what they were.
When he kissed Historia's hand in Season 3, he saw Grisha's memories of when he killed the Reiss family. You can see exactly what Eren saw that, because in this episode it shows Historia's hand and then his shocked face when he finished watching that "clip" of Grisha's memories. So Eren changed after he realised what those memories really meant (and some other things we haven't seen in the anime yet).
Also Eren didn't see the future *directly* there, he saw Grisha talking about Future Eren and the Attack Titan apparently having that ability, and he saw his own future memories that Future Eren sends back to Grisha.
To clarify the experiences, Grisha was able to see and "interact" with Eren and Zeke through Current Eren's memories. He only ever saw Zeke when Eren was also able to see Zeke, because he was seeing Zeke through Current Eren's eyes. It's confusing that it seems like Grisha was able to physically touch Zeke but that wasn't literally happening.
Put another way, when Grisha was "looking" at Eren in the doorway, he wasnt actually seeing Eren, he just suddenly recieved memories of Eren looking at him, like "whoa, I know someone standing there is looking at me right now". It must have felt like an out of body experience.

Tbh I think it’s a little bias to consider him good or evil without understanding where he’s coming from. He’s somebody who is capable of both good/evil, or in other words human. He just realizes that he has do a little bit more evil to get the goal that he wants. He’s willing to protect his friends, but would put them in harms way. He, went with the wine plan, but said “wait” because he knew what would happen to everyone who drunk the wind. In that case he needed to play his part, so yelena and zeke would believe it. He obviously didn’t like it, but like I said before he’s willing to put other people in harms way to complete his goal. He may not like it but that’s just how it is. His character is probably one of the most human characters in the story, it’s very complicated and complex which is why I considered him to be one of my top favorites. This isn’t some shonen anime like demon slayer or fairy tail when the mc has a pure heart and is always good because of the power of plot and kindess, this is a story full of complex characters with realistic human nature
Think what you want, but looking back at everything he’s done, he just seems like a gray character to me. He’s not black, nor white. I would explain more, but I’m sure y’all get the picture.

Okay so keep in mind, the Attack Titan can ONLY see the memories of FUTURE inheritors. So he would have not been able to see himself in the future. So, Eren in this episode, along with US and Zeke are seeing him in real time making Grisha do the things he did. The only reason Eren is able to interact with Grisha is because of Zekes royal blood in combination with the founding titan inside of Eren. So if it wasn't for Zeke taking Eren to see Grishas memories, the paradox wouldn't have ever happened.

This really is a confusing Episode, so heres a comment i found on the internet which i think explains it well, also i think Eren is fighting for the people of paradis and his own freedom. Frieda was saying that the Eldians should just accept the worlds hatred and let themselves be killed and we can see how furious Eren gets. Hes not purely evil but hes also not the good guy id say, cause he is probably going to kill alot of people. Heres the comment :)
So in order to avoid any confusion regarding the time travel mechanics, I will break down what type of Time travel we're dealing with here.
AOT operates by a particular type of time travel where it's almost impossible to change the past even if you somehow go back in time. And any change that you tried to cause was always meant to happen in the overall timeline. Here time is a fixed circle, not a stream. We may see Eren meddle in the past but that was always meant to happen. This calls into the question of the existence of free will in the world of Attack of Titan.
The Attack Titan's ability is to receive the memories of its future inheritors. This was hinted when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin towards the end of S3. Keep in mind, they can only view these memories but can't interact with them. So how was Eren able to meddle in the past?
Well, he had 3 perfect conditions:
    1) He had the ability of the Attack Titan
    2) The ability of the Founding Titan
    3) He was also in contact with someone with royal blood AKA Zeke.
After Zeke tapped Eren's head, they were able to view Grisha's past memories with Eren using the power of the coordinate. They were freely able to view the past as if it were through a one way mirror.
Now if Eren had any other Titan other than the Attack Titan, he would only be able to look. But since Attack Titan can see forward in time, Grisha can use this to see Eren's recollection of the same event that he's currently experiencing in real time.
So this mean that whenever Grisha can see or hear Eren, he's actually recieving a brief future memory from Eren's POV where he can see out of his eyes and hear his words. That means he is seeing himself from a 3rd perspective. Then if he responds, his response is simply part of the memory that Eren/Zeke are viewing, allowing for a two way communication through time.
Also when Eren kissed Historias hand at the end of season 3, he saw his fathers memories and within these memories were the ones of the future which future Eren send to Grisha. These are only parts of the future so Eren and Grisha are not all knowing, but they briefly know whats about to happen. From the start it was Eren who controlled Grisha and in a way his own younger self after he kissed Historias hand.
Also Note that everytime, Grisha sees Zeke, Eren is always standing behind his dad. So whenever Grisha sees Zeke, it is from actually due to the memories from Eren's POV.
Credit to Izanagi for the original comment.

I understand, we have to look even more further than just "who is right, who is wrong" because I do believe that there’s not a real good answer… you really have to think through it very carefully

btw la raison pourquoi Grisha pouvait voir Zeke c'est pcq Eren était derrière et ça faisait partie des mémoires que Grisha avait accès...

Grisha had the Attack Titan which sees the memories/visions of the future inheritors (future Eren, and in this episode...it would be the present for us). Whatever Eren sees now, Grisha sees during this scene (or whatever Eren wants him to see). When he sees Zeke, Eren was standing right behind him allowing him to see Zeke...so Grisha hugged Zeke as if he was air...but Grisha does see him through Eren's eyes. I hope that explains that part for you :) xoxo

  • @TheBashful0ne

Eren really only cares for Paradis Island as they saved him countless times, but to go deeper he's really thinking about Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie, etc because they served in corps together and literally risked their lives for each other..he said this earlier in the season. He wants them safe and to live normally but they can't do that with everyone outside the walls hunting them down because that's what Marley would do. Marley is prejudice enough to create allies to kill them, they've been racist for 2000 years so it's possible. Yeah you'll create allies to do it. Eren always wanted Freedom to live how he wanted and to do that he has to execute his plan.

Think about it, if Eren show Grisha what happened in Shiganshina, Grisha probably stayed at home and protect Carla with the Attack titan. So, not only Eren indirectly kill the Royals , he killed his own mother too..

why do people think eren is smart? the man babies in the comments thinks that just because he saw the future and manipulated it, he automatically becomes smart? what? he literally brought the war to them by attacking liberio and proving willy was right. where is the smartness in that?

    • @jemormaypa4005
      @jemormaypa4005 Год назад +1

First, the guy didn't say that Eren is smart, what the guy was saying was Eren is not a bad guy.
Second, lmao, Eren did not brought the war in liberio, idk were you got that idea . Eren literally waited and listen for willy to say if they are going to attack the island or not before attacking! What's the point of Eren waiting if Eren in the first place wanted war?? That doesn't make sense, if Eren wanted war, then he would've just started attacking his enemies.. plus, here's a question. Do you really think that if Eren did not attack liberio and he just went home with his friends, the world is not going to declare war against paradis? Do you really think that that's possible? Lol

    • @jimmy3261
      @jimmy3261 Год назад

@@jemormaypa4005 He must be one of those retards who thinks Eren conspired with Willy to purposely declare war on Paradis. He’s giving Willy too much credit.
