It is absolutely amazing how much The Residents have kept their mojo post-Hardy Fox. In fact this is my favorite thing they've done since Demons Dance Alone. Maybe before. Can't wait to see the Dog Stab tour in August.
This is awesome. So much creativity there - so many Residents, flung out in isolation across the world. But the camera is still on them. The EYE is always gazing on, and perhaps - just perhaps - it also gazes back?
I usually don't enjoy it when artists make that fanbased-collab music videos, but here it's just cool. I'm even kinda disappointed I didn't know about the event. I've a ton of masks and some music video experience, so I would have loved to have sent you a clip or two. Also, nice to see the actual Carrot Topp's alter ego in the video
Positive movement. A friend of mine claimed to know of it years ago and I thought he was full of it however slow motion foot stomping with exaggerated hand arm flailing seems to be quite the answer. It's great!
Highlights for me were seeing Carrot Topp from Radioactive Chicken Heads, that person dancing in the desert in a plague doctor mask, that person dressed as the old McDonald's mascot Birdie, and that one person who decided their greenscreen footage would be gameplay from Quake.
Oh I love this so much! I wish I was a part of this! I had no idea this was happening! So sweet and beautiful. I've only see the Residents twice but I was a teenager the first time and nobody at that time was a teenager at the show I was at. The second time was maybe ten years later and I saw a lot of new young fans who were around my age or new teenagers. The thing that got me was that Residents fans are such my kind of people. I've seen plenty of other bands, I've toured multiple times in my own band and generally "fan bases" are not something that interest me or something I want to be a part of. The Residents just attract such a variety of human from all walks of life and all ages. That is why I love their fans. It's not some big group of the same type of people in a group think fawning and worshiping some stupid artists(Not that the residents are stupid but maybe they are and maybe I am too! MAYBE YOU'RE STUPID TOO!). All that being said I am not a part of any fan club or group or anything like that for the Residents. I'm just saying that this is a really good fan/artist connection and I am happy they are in this video and if I were someone to involve myself in some form of musicians fan website or follow people touring or whatever fans do(Have sex with all members of the residents at a biker bar and write a book about it when you're 80??) I would choose this band. I have 3 Residents records. At someone point collecting records was important to me but not anymore. Collecting things is not worth it. So having 3 of one bands is a big deal. Only Iggy Pop, David Bowie and The Residents share that in my shitty collection. goodbye now.

I think Drumpf stole my plague-doctor mask. He'd never pay for one, & lacks the creativity/manual dexterity to make his own. Still have my old rubber Halloween horsehead & DuckStab tee tho. Mebbe this yr I'll be an Eyeball Buddy of the Apocalypse.
