That's awesome. Glad you found them. They were so much to so many in different ways. This album is a masterpiece the whole thing I just *chefs kiss* of everything all in one. And the more you listen to it the more you find. My least fav song was internal primates and like 2 years after getting rhe record I finally saw the beauty in it as I started to understand it. It became one of my favs. Glad to see you're still here. And good taste in music
@Jcikokalol thank you for your kind words. Yes, L.D. 50 was a masterpiece. I felt the same way about a couple of songs. I had to really listen to understand just how deep these songs went, both intellectually and emotionally
Thanks Taylor for the uncensored version. I have notice you do that with your songs. Im sure the fans here appreciate it. As people have said Death Blooms should be next for Mudvayne
If you're attempting to do any sort of a deep dive, even though "Dig" is by far their most famous song.. they have SOOO many other selections to pick from with more lyrical layers. "Happy?", "World So Cold", "Death Blooms", "Fall into Sleep" and "Not Falling"... just to name a few. Best wishes.
Mudvayne came up in the era of Nu Metal. They refused to conform. This is the way they are. And they held true to it. I loved them back then growing up and I still love their reunine tours.
I subbed because it is nice to see some one who tries to understands metal on both the lyrical and mental health aspects. Metal is a home for a lot of that have been thru hell mental health wise and can not find a outlet for the anger we hold inside. A crazy thing that a number of big metal names have in common was child abuse and molestation. Metal gave these people a voice and a outlet to voice their pain and trauma.
Holy hell...you did very well at deciphering the lyrics. So many would just hear it as noise, but you picked it up so quickly. I've seen a few of your video's so I shouldn't be surprised...but I'm still legit surprised.
Of all the songs Mudvayne ever wrote, Severed is the one that blew my mind the most. It hit hard after my divorce, even though I had known the song for years. Powerful.
Saw mudvayne at rockville 21. I remember the screams when Chad came up on screen and had the clown makeup on. What a special moment to be there for. They are back and it's raw as fuck
I’ll never forget hearing this song for the first time. It was near the end of my freshman year of high school and I had heard of Mudvayne but not their music. I was hanging out in the drafting room after school one day and much to my surprise, my teacher heard of them and one older kid started playing Dig through the computer speakers that were just cranked. All of a sudden BANG!!! The song came on and it felt like a bomb went off inside the drafting room. I was like “what the hell is this?” That’s what did it for me, I became an instant fan.
Going into my senior year of high school, before our first football game in 2000, I brought this CD in, threw it on... let's just say the school that came, left with the tail between the legs. It became a weekly ritual to play it as we left the locker room
I’ve been waiting so much for you to do Mudvayne. Phenomenal tune. Have been a fan since day one. They keep saving my life. I have recently believed something or someone else has buried me to a horrible suffering place and I need to take it back. Take back the shovel. Thank you for not censoring it. -1, Death blooms, Goodbye… More please.❤
Fun fact. Mudvayne were nominated for some award when this album was out. The band went to the awards show in suits and makeup to make it look like they were all shot in the forehead execution style.
HELLYEAH is a great band, during MUDVAYNE'S hiatus, the lead singer Chad Gray and Vinnie Paul from PANTERA formed HELLYEAH, "YOU WOULDN'T KNOW" is my favorite song, they also did a cover of Phil Collins' 80's hit "I DON'T CARE ANYMORE"
My interpretation of the bridge section of the video, where the black lines start spreading across Chad's face, is that it's a visual representation of someone reaching their "breaking point". His mind is cracking up and he's about to EXPLODE with rage.
I like that concept. It kinda fits with how I saw it too. Late teens, coming out of an abused upbringing, the rage suppressed through childhood bubbling up as furious hate. And because self harm and suicidal impulse was what I knew it became the ultimate concept of destruction. When I hated someone I wanted to hurt them. Violence against them was one thing, but when the breaking point arrives, I tip over into making them hurt themselves. Another though I had later: someone, an abuser, a corporate manipulator, a person in power, is trying to force me to do what I dont want to do, to do that which harms me, which destroys me. Well I'm gonna turn that abound on them, make them do what they dont want, to damage or destroy themselves instead.
I saw "therapist reacts" and "Dig" and I knew the part of the video I needed to see. 😂 Your expressions did not disappoint! But I appreciate the deeper analysis!
I will always remember stumbling across this song/music video on Headbanger's Ball when I was in the 6th grade. It is safe to say that I was fundamentally changed from that moment on.
I love your interpretation of dig. It makes more sense than what I originally thought. I always figured they were singing about if someone wants to commit suicide, well, let me help you if that's the way you wanna go. Just goes to show how different people interpret things differently.
i am from there hometown grew up listening to them before they even had a record deal. love there music helped me through some tough times and find myself and help me be myself.
I need a therapist that can be as easy to talk to and to explain myself to. I love the way you explain your ideas of the music that I love to listen to. I've seen a couple of your videos and I am so taken by the way you come across. The facial reactions you have are also freaking awesome. Keep it real!!!!!! Respect!!!!!
STAND OR WALK AWAY... FROM HELLYEAH. Everyone has a song that defines them.. or maybe speaks of their situation..etc. This song describes my entire damn life.. Listen to it. If it doesn't bring a tear to your eye then you are not human.
This is my favorite mudvayne song!! Love this and limp bizkit - break stuff on those days you wake up on the wrong side the pillow. Nice you found the uncut video
Eye of the Enemy, The Shift. Only song that can make me cry ....and 🎶the 4 right chords can make me cry🎶-3rd eye blind....🎶it goes like this, the 4th, the 5th, the minor fall to the major lift🎵- hallelujah.
Never heard this song before today, I couldn't understand any of the lyrics but this chick can't be rattled and interpreted it. Keep these videos coming!!!
This is one of the very few reaction channels I like anymore in the metal world. Most people are ridiculously over the top. Also this woman has great takes on the lyrics, and doesnt drag the video on forever. Good content ma'am.
As someone who was an angry, depressed, resentful teenager when this song came out...I use to listen to songs like Dig when I wanted to just get it out of me. It was this stuff that kept me alive or from doing something I would regret.
I'm not going to lie: seeing our dear hostess practically short-circuit over their makeup was absolutely hilarious. Wonderful interpretation of the lyrics, though.
i love this song. the perspective you have is very intriguing, in a way I never thought of. please make more video reactions to metal songs. thanks you.

theyre a great band, i just saw themlive recently (they closed with dig too!). i loved the analysis here, great take on mudvayne. personally ive always viewed the song as a dichotomy between a past and present self, like losing sight of who you are. the new version of the fictional character is killing its past self to fit in and be accepted by the aforementioned "biz" but finding it feels more lost than ever
The entire album is a master piece.. -1, nothing to gain, death blooms, internal primates ect.. Severed is my favorite song from them out of all their albums.. helped a lot when I was kid not living the best life
Funny how I've listened to LD50 since the day it dropped some 23+ years ago, but never interpreted Dig this way :D Very interesting expanding one's understanding, keep up the great work!
I thought her Obvious Reaction to the lyrics... Let Me Help you Hold the Gun Against Your Head... Finger light socket... BzzzZAP!!!... Music is just a representation of Emotion... Beautiful Emotions... This isnt a whack at emo yadda yadda... Each type of song you hear.. holds a significant response, in everybody... Mudvayne earned my Respect and Loyalty back in L.D. 50... I will Pound those tunes in my car even when I'm old and grey... Makes me Happy...
I won't fucking change for noone!!! Ty dig your own grave!!!! That's who i am!!!! You can dig, you can change,....but I'LL NEVER CHANGE FOR NOONE EVER!!!!
Bullet, by Hollywood undead. It’s the theme song for men that are “suffering in silence.” Breaking our bodies, ruining our health, and selling our time for a household that doesn’t give a shit. Upbeat happy melody, with depressing suicidal lyrics. It showcases how a beaten down person will smile and say everything is great, while they are dying inside.
the thing about change makes me think of how much I struggle to deal with it cause I sometimes feel like I've forgotten things or people that use to be close to me in the past
I think the lyrics goes waaaaaaaaay beyond the music industry, it might just as well have to do with a general trend in society of conforming to new, imported ideas of how to live one's life.
This is so late 90s early 2000s... Reminds me of toxicity, last resort, there's a limp Bizkit one too... They all do the weird super close up love instrument thing
Mudvayne album "kill i outta" and or "The Beginning of all things to end" first two tracks. "poop loser" into "seed", those two deserve spotlight & will make dig easier to understand, especially following into death blooms and served
Their song "Severed" would be a truly perfect song for a therapist to analyze. And he 'sings' a lot in that song, as opposed to all the screaming you hear in this song. So hearing the lyrics is much easier in that one.
finally get to see them this year with my dad hopefully. Hes having liver issues after his transplant almost 10 years ago so im hoping hes healthy enough to go and the last two years we've been going to see bands we both like. Last year was Lamb of God and Pantera, this year we have All that Remains, Mudvayne, and Megadeth. Megadeth is a childhood favorite for my dad so i got front row for this one same as the pantera one
Birth is indeed always painful and rebirth is a gift. I really enjoy your evaluation of these lyrics, yes it is super aggro, yes it is super defiant but they are filled with integrity and I think that in and of itself is a positive asset. Above and beyond that there are layers within layers and for the astute and the intellectual... this grinds with fierce tenacity as well as shock value. Dig it no pun intended
This song was released when i was a teen and chronically suicidal and angry. This song gave me a place to put that anger. I love mudvayne.
That's awesome. Glad you found them. They were so much to so many in different ways. This album is a masterpiece the whole thing I just *chefs kiss* of everything all in one. ❤agreed. happy? Help me get off Meth
Now better father & husband
Can’t wait for aug finally get too see my savior
This
Thank god you went with the unedited version!
That really is key for this song. That squeaky clean version really ruins the entire thing.
Ok
Really?..........Ugh
I mean this is the worst song on the album, but it’s unbearable to listen to if it’s the edited version.
@@n.88.Lmao. Definitely isn't the worst.
In the metal community, Mudvayne is legendary. Please do more. They have a big catalogue.
I'm thinking singled out buy Diecast and through and through by Life of Agony it's kind of prescient at this point in time
The whole L.D. 50 album is a banger. Nothing To Gein is probably my favorite.
Cant really think of a non banger on LD50. My favorite is Pharmarcopia
Cradle is heavy as hell too
@@nukem8128 Pharmacopia is such a banger.
Mine is Severed. As a bass player, I heard that shit and it shook me to my core
Gein as in Ed Gein
Death blooms mudvayne next please
PLEASE 🙏
Up
Or World so Cold, never see people reacts to it
Yes
Yup
I can't wait until you get to 'World So Cold' by Mudvayne. One of their best songs in my opinion.
Agreed 👍👍
Mudvayne has alot of great songs I could name off a list
That is a very deep song ❤️
Thanks Taylor for the uncensored version. I have notice you do that with your songs. Im sure the fans here appreciate it. As people have said Death Blooms should be next for Mudvayne

world so cold and not falling i wanna say are more known, not falling was at the end scene for a movie too
She's already reacted to "Happy"
Scream with me is one of my favorites
Severed is my favorite
Forget to remember is a good one is featured in one of the Saw movies
Legends. They came in at a perfect time when the mainstream was pop and boy bands.
“Death blooms” is a good one. It’s a deeper one… I think😂
Second this
it is, as it's a personal song. about Chad's Grandmother who was being ignored by family and chad was the only one who kept in contact with her.
Up
@@ScarysReviews yeah.. I was just wondering if I was wrong😅
I so agree, alongside -1 and severed
Iv been waiting for this song soooooooo much. It's one of my favorites

Mudvayne came up in the era of Nu Metal. They refused to conform. This is the way they are. And they held true to it. I loved them back then growing up and I still love their reunine tours.
Internal Primates Forever is one of my absolute favorite Mudvayne songs, a varied and moving song
Internal Primates Forever is one of my all-time favorite songs.
It’s my favourite mudvayne song too ❤ got to see them play it live in Melbourne Australia earlier this year, it was epic ❤❤

Mudvaynes "Nothing to Gein" is a must react.
100% agreed
"Do What You Do" is another good one to check out from Mudvayne
Great explanation of the deeper meaning...I DIG it
"always hopeful yet discontent
He knows changes aren't
permanent but change is"
It's a really interesting interpretation I'd never thought of before
