I’d say this song is beautiful. It truly does suit kakyoin. Especially the lyrics, it sounds like something he would do. Even though Kakyoin may be an animated drawing, he still gave us real feelings such as sadness or comfort. Well, at least I think so.
You know, for all the jokes about the Cherrys, the milf hunting, the F Megas, the startled declaration that nobody just deflects the emerald splash... It's easy to forget that Kakyoin risked life and limb to save the mom of a guy he didn't know because it was the right thing. It's easy to forget that even when his friends thought he was crazy he saved them. It's easy to forget he went straight from the hospital to Dios doorstep with no hesitation, and that when everyone else was running from Dio, trying to figure out his stand, Kakyoin stood his ground, and even as he lay broken and dying, figured it out and sent the message with his last breaths. What a badass.
That's the reason why I hate the MILF hunter, donut and these overused jokes, they reduce kakyoin to only that, when he's actually one of the best characters of the series (the best for me, since he's my fav)

The saddest part is that after he had recovered from losing his eye sight, he had to go into DIO’s mansion even though he had the shortest reunion with his friends that he never had before, he gets trapped in younger Darby’s doll, which prevents him from seeing his friends for EVEN longer, and on top of that, he gets separated from Polnareff, Iggy, and Avdol, and the next time he hears about them he finds out that Iggy and Avdol are dead. Then right after, he gets punched in the stomach without even knowing what is going on, and he dies without even KNOWING if Joseph got the message he was trying to send. That’s just so sad, man. Rest In Peace, Noriaki Kakyoin. You shall always be remembered in the JoJo universe no matter how long that universe may stretch.

This just hit me: Kakyoin *never* spent a single day in his new school in the end. No one his age attends his funeral except Jotaro, because *no one knew him.* No one knew about how intelligent, how brave, and how kind a person he truly was. He would have had friends to play games with. He would have been very popular with the ladies. He would have been a teacher's pet, and would probably become a class rep of some kind. He would be good at studying, and he would tease Jotaro for his grades. They'd prank with each other with their Stands and walk back home together after class. Heck, Jotaro actually attends class. But instead, no one except Jotaro even remembers his name. ;_;
Kakyoin wasn't the type to make friends, because he was born with his stand which no one else could see, he felt no one could understand him and so didn't desire to make friends. In fact Araki has said that he's not sure Jotaro and Kakyoin would have ever become friends if not for Jotaro having a stand, Kakyoin desires above all else that those he surrounds himself with can truly understand him. So while I'm sure he'd be popular with the ladies in the same way Jotaro is, I don't see him as a ladies' man or a popular guy in general. It's not that others dislike him, he's just not interested in connecting with them. And I doubt he'd be a teacher's pet either, while he's a very proper and respectful individual he's also immensely prideful. He wouldn't brown nose to anyone. And unless I'm mistaken, Kakyoin was not starting a new school, I don't know where you got that from. Also you make it sound like Jotaro's grades would be bad compared to Kakyoin's exemplary grades. I agree Kakyoin's grades would be good, but Jotaro is really smart as well and I bet his grades would be up there too if he applied himself.

@@discontinuousqualia7365 Sorry, I don't think it was very clear, but I was coming from a context where Kakyoin returns alive after the whole Stardust Crusaders adventure, and more coming from the perspective of how these other new people he WOULD have met otherwise could have received him, rather than suggesting how he may act around them. (Also, when Kakyoin is introduced he said he had just transferred to Jotaro's school 'today', and on the very same day he attacked Jotaro at the school nurse's, and the rest is history. We don't know if he went to class or not to begin with, but he may not have had the chance to meet anyone at school, or only made a basic introduction before disappearing) In Kakyoin's flashback the teacher remarked that he wasn't unliked by people, which suggests he was perfectly capable of getting on with people and acquaintances when he had to, but did not become friends or saw people on friendly terms on a recurring basis. So, if we assume Kakyoin could have returned alive after SDC, having now had friends he knows he can truly relate to, I thought he may have learnt to somewhat open up and have a few good acquaintances/friends in his new school, especially since he would also have Jotaro, since they would presumably remain friends at school together after Egypt. (Obviously, your interpretation may be different). I also meant popular by the ladies in the same way Jotaro is popular with the ladies - one-sided. I think he is the type who will end up saying and acting in a lovely, kind, polite way that makes the girls swoon but does not mean he intentionally tries to flirt with them (see Tower of Gray episode with the air hostesses). He would be popular simply because he is a charming, lovely boy. Again, by teacher's pet I also just meant that teachers would be immensely fond of him as a student, rather than brown-nosing. They would trust him to carry out responsibilities for them, hence the possibility he may be class-rep. I did not phrase it very clearly so I understand how you could have interpreted it this way, but I also didn't intend to suggest that Jotaro's grades were bad. We can tell he's clearly quite capable academically since he's doing a PhD. But I personally imagine Kakyoin would do better than him simply because Jotaro cares less about his education whereas Kakyoin is clearly quite conscientious (but I imagined some light-hearted rivalry between the two would have boosted Jotaro's attendance and grades anyway). Hope this clears up where I was coming from!

What makes me happy is the fact that DIO had to use stop time in order to defeat Kakyoin. I belive nor The World's strength, speed and agility, DIO's healing superpowers and power could have endured against Kakyoin's 20 meter radius emerald splash. For real tho, Kakyoin got stronger and stronger, and even at his death he kept showing strenght. That's why we love him.
I think about it sometimes, but it seems DIO took Kakyoin's attack seriously. DIO is known for being cocky and underestimating his opponents, he toys with them until he is satisfied. The fact that he stopped time to instantly finish off Kakyoin instead of toying around must mean DIO had acknowledged Kakyoin's skill and power to some degree. DIO might have known that if he were to play around Kakyoin too much, Kakyoin would have learnt a way to defeat him. Hence, why he needed to finish him off as soon as possible.

I can't recover from this. The first time I saw Kakyoin's death in anime, I didn't cry at all... I just felt shock. But after that, I cry for him over and over again. He's really a kind person, his soul is pure and noble. We will never forget you, and we will love you forever and always. You will never feel alone anymore. It's really sad, but i think it was on purpose because when he died, he wasn't utterly fulfilled and regret-less. The job his death achieved (letting the others know the secret of DIO's stand) he never found out if Joseph actually understood what he was trying to say. Like how Avdol died to save Polnareff and Iggy- he watched them be saved from Vanilla Ice, he knew they were saved. Iggy watched Vanilla Ice die- he knew his goal of killing him and saving Pol was achieved. Whereas Kakyoin died not knowing whether his message would be received or if DIO would even be defeated at all. He couldn't move on because he had regrets - he knew his parents were worried sick over him disappearing suddenly, he knew DIO was really powerful and made him question if they could defeat him at all. In short, i basically believe that Kakyoin had so many goals left unfulfilled and he died with feelings of awful regret and uncertainty, his soul simply couldn't move on.
Quick reminder that Kakyoin never made any friends in school because no one could see his Hierophant Green, so we can say that the Crusaders, or even DIO were his only friends.
Everytime I hear Goodbye Nostalgia I imagine Kakyoin laying on the grass, singing this with Coda's voice, remembering the good moments he had with the crusaders, with no regrets of the life he had and singing this with a smile on his face, with Hierophant Green next to him. In the end he just close his eyes, keeping that smile on his face, while Hierophant Green slowly desapears, telling himself he had such a great life. I'm crying.

Kakyoin's death is literally the saddest in all Jobro's death. He's just 17 years old, his parents aren't even aware of his death, he only managed to make a friendship in just 50 days, he got punched on his stomach so hard that it creates a massive hole, and he didn't even gets to know if Joseph managed to find out the meaning of his dying message after he got donutted by Dio.
It's amazing how they turned around and helped each other so much that in the end most people died and on top of all that, at the end of those who stay alive, they just change their lives and Jotaro does his job alone in part 6 and on top of that he dies in a rough way still wants to know why I cry?

You know, for all the jokes about the Cherrys, the milf hunting, the F Megas, the startled declaration that nobody just deflects the emerald splash...
It's easy to forget that Kakyoin risked life and limb to save the mom of a guy he didn't know because it was the right thing. It's easy to forget that even when his friends thought he was crazy he saved them. It's easy to forget he went straight from the hospital to Dios doorstep with no hesitation, and that when everyone else was running from Dio, trying to figure out his stand, Kakyoin stood his ground, and even as he lay broken and dying, figured it out and sent the message with his last breaths.
What a badass.
Great comment, also, without Kakyoin everyone would have literally DIED. They would have never figured out his ability, or way too late.
That's the reason why I hate the MILF hunter, donut and these overused jokes, they reduce kakyoin to only that, when he's actually one of the best characters of the series (the best for me, since he's my fav)

The saddest part is that after he had recovered from losing his eye sight, he had to go into DIO’s mansion even though he had the shortest reunion with his friends that he never had before, he gets trapped in younger Darby’s doll, which prevents him from seeing his friends for EVEN longer, and on top of that, he gets separated from Polnareff, Iggy, and Avdol, and the next time he hears about them he finds out that Iggy and Avdol are dead. Then right after, he gets punched in the stomach without even knowing what is going on, and he dies without even KNOWING if Joseph got the message he was trying to send. That’s just so sad, man. Rest In Peace, Noriaki Kakyoin. You shall always be remembered in the JoJo universe no matter how long that universe may stretch.

This just hit me: Kakyoin *never* spent a single day in his new school in the end. No one his age attends his funeral except Jotaro, because *no one knew him.*
No one knew about how intelligent, how brave, and how kind a person he truly was. He would have had friends to play games with. He would have been very popular with the ladies. He would have been a teacher's pet, and would probably become a class rep of some kind. He would be good at studying, and he would tease Jotaro for his grades. They'd prank with each other with their Stands and walk back home together after class. Heck, Jotaro actually attends class.
But instead, no one except Jotaro even remembers his name.

In fact Araki has said that he's not sure Jotaro and Kakyoin would have ever become friends if not for Jotaro having a stand, Kakyoin desires above all else that those he surrounds himself with can truly understand him. So while I'm sure he'd be popular with the ladies in the same way Jotaro is, I don't see him as a ladies' man or a popular guy in general. It's not that others dislike him, he's just not interested in connecting with them. And I doubt he'd be a teacher's pet either, while he's a very proper and respectful individual he's also immensely prideful. He wouldn't brown nose to anyone. And unless I'm mistaken, Kakyoin was not starting a new school, I don't know where you got that from.
Also you make it sound like Jotaro's grades would be bad compared to Kakyoin's exemplary grades. I agree Kakyoin's grades would be good, but Jotaro is really smart as well and I bet his grades would be up there too if he applied himself.

@@discontinuousqualia7365 Sorry, I don't think it was very clear, but I was coming from a context where Kakyoin returns alive after the whole Stardust Crusaders adventure, and more coming from the perspective of how these other new people he WOULD have met otherwise could have received him, rather than suggesting how he may act around them. (Also, when Kakyoin is introduced he said he had just transferred to Jotaro's school 'today', and on the very same day he attacked Jotaro at the school nurse's, and the rest is history. We don't know if he went to class or not to begin with, but he may not have had the chance to meet anyone at school, or only made a basic introduction before disappearing)
In Kakyoin's flashback the teacher remarked that he wasn't unliked by people, which suggests he was perfectly capable of getting on with people and acquaintances when he had to, but did not become friends or saw people on friendly terms on a recurring basis. So, if we assume Kakyoin could have returned alive after SDC, having now had friends he knows he can truly relate to, I thought he may have learnt to somewhat open up and have a few good acquaintances/friends in his new school, especially since he would also have Jotaro, since they would presumably remain friends at school together after Egypt. (Obviously, your interpretation may be different).
I also meant popular by the ladies in the same way Jotaro is popular with the ladies - one-sided. I think he is the type who will end up saying and acting in a lovely, kind, polite way that makes the girls swoon but does not mean he intentionally tries to flirt with them (see Tower of Gray episode with the air hostesses). He would be popular simply because he is a charming, lovely boy.
Again, by teacher's pet I also just meant that teachers would be immensely fond of him as a student, rather than brown-nosing. They would trust him to carry out responsibilities for them, hence the possibility he may be class-rep.
I did not phrase it very clearly so I understand how you could have interpreted it this way, but I also didn't intend to suggest that Jotaro's grades were bad. We can tell he's clearly quite capable academically since he's doing a PhD. But I personally imagine Kakyoin would do better than him simply because Jotaro cares less about his education whereas Kakyoin is clearly quite conscientious (but I imagined some light-hearted rivalry between the two would have boosted Jotaro's attendance and grades anyway).

What makes me happy is the fact that DIO had to use stop time in order to defeat Kakyoin.
I belive nor The World's strength, speed and agility, DIO's healing superpowers and power could have endured against Kakyoin's 20 meter radius emerald splash.
For real tho, Kakyoin got stronger and stronger, and even at his death he kept showing strenght.
That's why we love him.
I think about it sometimes, but it seems DIO took Kakyoin's attack seriously.
DIO is known for being cocky and underestimating his opponents, he toys with them until he is satisfied.
The fact that he stopped time to instantly finish off Kakyoin instead of toying around must mean DIO had acknowledged Kakyoin's skill and power to some degree.
DIO might have known that if he were to play around Kakyoin too much, Kakyoin would have learnt a way to defeat him.
Hence, why he needed to finish him off as soon as possible.
What's even more impressive is that even DIO ending the encounter as fast as he possibly could was STILL enough for Kakyoin to figure out his power.

It's really sad, but i think it was on purpose because when he died, he wasn't utterly fulfilled and regret-less. The job his death achieved (letting the others know the secret of DIO's stand) he never found out if Joseph actually understood what he was trying to say. Like how Avdol died to save Polnareff and Iggy- he watched them be saved from Vanilla Ice, he knew they were saved. Iggy watched Vanilla Ice die- he knew his goal of killing him and saving Pol was achieved. Whereas Kakyoin died not knowing whether his message would be received or if DIO would even be defeated at all. He couldn't move on because he had regrets - he knew his parents were worried sick over him disappearing suddenly, he knew DIO was really powerful and made him question if they could defeat him at all. In short, i basically believe that Kakyoin had so many goals left unfulfilled and he died with feelings of awful regret and uncertainty, his soul simply couldn't move on.

Everytime I hear Goodbye Nostalgia I imagine Kakyoin laying on the grass, singing this with Coda's voice, remembering the good moments he had with the crusaders, with no regrets of the life he had and singing this with a smile on his face, with Hierophant Green next to him. In the end he just close his eyes, keeping that smile on his face, while Hierophant Green slowly desapears, telling himself he had such a great life.

Kakyoin's death is literally the saddest in all Jobro's death. He's just 17 years old, his parents aren't even aware of his death, he only managed to make a friendship in just 50 days, he got punched on his stomach so hard that it creates a massive hole, and he didn't even gets to know if Joseph managed to find out the meaning of his dying message after he got donutted by Dio.
