Filming OWLS and CORN Buntings in the countryside. Little Owl, Tawny Owl.

In part 5 of the 250-bird challenge, I’m exploring my home province of Drenthe in search of rare countryside species. My first stop is a spot where Corn Buntings overwinter. After that, I’ll try to find a Little owl, Grey Partridges, and a Tawny owl.

Loving the concept and appreciating these videos! Keep them coming! Also compared to where I find myself, dark, icy Norwa, you are so spoiled for wintering birds. A little jealous...

Yeah I can understand that Norway in the winter isn't the best place for birding. But on the other hand you have species like Hawk Owl and Pine Grosbeak around. I do agree that the Netherlands is very well located for birding. We get mega rare birds from all wind directions and got all the influx species in the last 25 years (I only need Pine Grossbeak). Sadly we have britain in the way for more yanks, but we do have a couple :)

I know Corn Bunting has increased in Germany the last years, but I did not expect a wintering flock in NL! Nice birds.

Yeah actualy last week it turned out there are at least 16 birds present there. A couple of years ago we had some breeding records in the aggricultural fields of Groningen. Nowadays I am not aware of any succesfull breeding attempt but we do occasionaly have a terretorial bird in spring.

Haha thanx! Although I don't actualy know wether likes and comments make a difference. And if it does I think it's the wrong approach by youtube. CTR and average watch time should be the only things that matter.

Er zit nu ook een bosuil bij de uitkijktoren in Fochteloerveen dus die is heel makkelijk op te pikken als je hem nog zoekt, er staat op waarneming wel een locatie

Die Grauwe Gorzen staan wel op www.waarneming.nl. die Steenuil zit in andere langs de weg oldend. Hij zit vaak op een schoorsteen van een klein huisje (zie de beelden in mijn video) maar soms ook op 1 van de andere boerderijen langs die weg. Ik heb ze er overigens ook vaak genoeg gemist dus het is geenzins een garantie

@ dankjewel! Anderen is een halfuurtje fietsen voor mij dus dat zou geen probleem zijn. Ik ga volgende week dinsdag heen
