I'm applying for drama school atm. When I was a lot younger, I was a child actor at the RSC for a season. This was obviously more than five years ago, but at the same time it was a pretty big production and genuinely taught me a lot and I think it does show that I have genuine theatre experience. Is this something to write about or is it not relevant?
About the experience part of the statement, im about to finish sixth form and have only taken a class for drama and took it in secondary school but have been practicing my skills in other means such as monologues or pieces with friends. Is there anything I can do to make up for that in the statement? I plan on applying to an undergraduate course and have looked ar multiple acting universities.
Just by saying that you've been rehearsing and exploring text with friends in the run up to auditions is a really good indication of your passion and dedication to being an actor. Not everyone will have loads of experience and that is ok. Think of your personal statement as prompts for the audition panel to ask questions and have a discussion with you during the interview stage. The personal statement isn't going to be the thing that gets you into drama school, your performance will.
