Personally I LOVE this series. It has great characters, shows us what entertainment industry is like from inside and the plot is crazy, trust me. As a manga reader, I still can't believe how dark last chapters of the manga are compared to recent anime episodes. Just please, don't drop this series.
I love that Suraj is especially loving this show. I feel that creatives or anyone who had worked in or wanted to work in "the industry" can find real depth and relatability in the writing of this show, from its terminology to its insight to its emotional resonance. Great job on the editor for getting this out so fast despite the technical difficulties. I can't wait for their reaction to episode 4!
@Rick King 22 this is the best take. The only time I do skip is if I'm binge watching, but I also almost never binge so I always watch the OP/intros/etc
@rickking228 I only skip them when I am really in a hurry trying to fit watching the episode somewhere in my schedule, or when an opening or ending is remarkably bad (if it's just a little bad I watch it since you never know when one will grow on you after a couple watches) Other than that, watch always.
@rickking228 I respect you for that, it's the way we all should aspire to be. Adding to my previous comment too, there are certain series (Oshi no Ko included) that have openings and endings that are just too good to skip even when in a rush, I don't skip those. All that said though, I do skip introdutory monologues (and recaps) for certain series without remorse, those aren't common nowdays but older anime have a lot. The narrator saying the exact same thing can get very tiring after a few dozen episodes... Some are good and I don't skip, like Avatar's, but a lot aren't.
@rickking228 I totally believe that, I was just confessing my sins to a TV watcher saint like yourself, I very much respect your dedication to the holy tradition of not letting even a second of art go to waste. On a more serious note about nostalgia though, I find it really interesting how extremely powerful that feeling is and how much it can influence us without even realizing. For example, you know how when you hear a cover of a song you like and think "ehh, not as good as the original"? Now, have you ever heard a song's cover before the actual song and checked out the original later? First time it happened to me I was very shocked, because I actually thought the exact same thing, but with inverse positions. (The specific instance of this I experienced was the Fallen Kingdom Minecraft music video, which is a parody of Viva la Vida from Coldplay. I actually love Viva La Vida, it's an amazing song, but even now I still like Fallen Kingdom more) It's happened more times now and some of the original versions were clearly better, but it was still a very eye opening experience for me when I realized that just having seen one version first made me favor it so much without even realizing it.
The backstory for the phone password is explained in the short story also titled "45510". The author wrote it for the anime debut and the op song is also based on the story. I'd recommend reading it, it's only about 10 pages and doesn't spoil anything going forward.
Since flip phones are more popular in Japan they made smart flip phones. They came with a lot of cool functions, but I’m pretty sure more people opt for smartphones nowadays. There are manga where the characters use flip phones, but sometimes the anime changes them to smartphones to fit in the times. Sometimes there’s problems though like how one anime I like can’t adapt a specific chapter anymore because the joke was about something only flip phones could do.
23:44 45510 is how you type the initials of Ai's bandmates on a phone keypad (think T-9 dialing, but for Japanese). The story behind it is never explained in the manga, but in a short story Aka published on the web. It's about one of her old bandmate discovering some of her personal stuff she recorded, including an old livestream for the few fans they had back then. It serves as the basis for Yoasobi's opening song. With that context in mind, certain verses in the song are from the bandmate's perspective, The lyrics were about the jealously that goes on in the group, how even she felt like she never really knew who Ai was, and how she ended up also making up her own image of Ai that's unreconcilable with the real Ai, just like their fans do.
It’s great that you guys are actively picking up some Japanese phrases and trying to understand them or use them. Small Japanese lesson: verbs usually have a “dictionary” form, which usually ends in “-ru” and a “-masu” form. Often, people use the dictionary form for casual speech, while the “masu” form is a little more formal. The verb “yaru / yarimasu” means “to do.” The negative of that would be “yaranai / yarimasen.” In addition, the “yaru” verb is a more casual form of common form of the verb “to do,” which is “suru / shimasu.” 5:32 Aqua says “yaranai” in a more casual form, which is “yaran.” By replying “yaru / yarimasu” or “yaran / yaranai / yarimasen,” to whatever the other speaker proposes, you’re saying, “I’ll do it / I won’t do it.” The translator or subtitler localized it as “I’m in” for the context of acting in the drama.
Thanks for the lesson, that was pretty useful info. I had an idea about it just from how much experience I have watching anime, but it's nice seeing a more thoughtout explanation.
Yeah, a lot of manga originals can either be adapted into an anime, a live-action series or film, or into a stage play. How well they are adapted often depends on how the story can be translated in certain mediums but most of the time, it gets destroyed by the people working on it for having differing style, preferences, or budget.
There are co-ed groups in kpop! One I follow is Kard, with 4 members. I know Triple H was a co-ed trio, but they’ve since disbanded since two of the members left. They were relatively popular.
They're not as common, but there are coed idol groups in Japan. AAA is probably the most well-known. Team48 is a recent group that's become popular through youtube and tiktok. There are a lot of of coed bands, singing groups, and duos, but they're not quite the same as idols.
Just imagine how completely fucked you'd be if the person that showed up to kill you had spent 4 years of their life just hammering in pass codes on a phone every 30 seconds just to try and find out your name. There'd be no hope of escape.
According to my knowledge Korea does that as well. Instead of turning manhwa(manga but for Korean meaning comic) into mostly K-Dramas like “Sweat Home” and “Weak Hero”
Every time Suraj asks me to do awful things to him in the comments I just want to give him a hot tea and a blanket and be like "It's ok, buddy, you're doing great."
Names of former B-Komachi members Takamine Nino Ai Watanabe The ''45510'' is the initials of the girls (Ta, Ni, A, Wa) and the corresponding number when using the Japanese keyboard input on cell phones.
Based from Aqua's own assessment, I think that he is an average actor who can be type casted and excel with those brooding, stalker type characters but terrible with everything else because his range of acting just doesn't hit. It may be because he was traumatized with Ai's death and his feelings are muted and such. If he continues in this direction he might even be a "good" actor but he acknowledges that he won't be "great." And we do see great actors later down the line. Actors that have actual talent and acting that borders on obsession with their character.
From what I understand, there are at least a couple different ways to say "no" in Japanese, depending on context. Also yeah that hammy non-acting had me rolling. 😂
Ofc the normies missed out the whole bad mouthing Kana scene done by the director and his team as they were too busy joking about irrelevant stuff... I like watching normies reaction vids but sometimes I wish they could pay more attention to the actual plot and its conversations instead of joking around about random stuffs irrelevant to the show.. oh well
lol, I never thought of seeing that responde like from a "jelousy" perspective instead of just thinking like some sort of yaoi moment xD it fits totally
Bro y'all need to actually read the subs carefully. Y'all are talking over them all the time. I don't mean ti be rude but there are many subtle hints in this anime that go may go unnoticed if you're not paying attention.
3:11 coed groups exist but are never as famous cus fandoms largely like to think and male n female kpop idol interactong are dating and that happens all the time in coed groups obv. id say Kard is a well know coed group with reletively no problems tho
the figurative arrow anime-isms.. you saw that in Haikyuu when Asahi was stabbed with arrow words as well. When people were talking behind his back like he's old and stuff.
That is the same guy who was confused about the basic understanding of Re:Zero (where you just have to watch the show and remember the info given). I am not surprised. Give him anything not Shounen, and he struggles
God damnit...you guys get to distracted with random bs...your reaction to the end of the episode was awful ´cause you´re to distract with your cigarette´s jokes
I think its more of them just clearing a misunderstanding when a member implied another is gas lighting (which can definitely be a bit of a derailer). Only really took a couple of minutes out towards the end though lol. I appreciate hearing their quips, philosophy, and off topics mixed in with their reaction commentary personally 😅 . More so when the content runs a bit slower.
I was going to make a post about it but...cbfed and you said it already, they were distracted right from the start with "one piece" chat.... BTW if they want to go to Japan then maybe they should focus on hearing the JP voices by watching SUB from now on ;) OG VAs are the best for anime anyway ^^
I once choked laughing when someone said "nip it in the butt"... I didn't think so many people think that's what it is. Anyway, you learn something new
How are we liking this series so far? Let us know down below!

The writing for the show is great! It takes its time to show each character exploring their journey through the entertainment industry. I love it. ❤
absolutely love it
f*cking cigarette bud
Btw that scene of Kana in "her" bedroom with a lot of cans was a scene from her show, not her actual room.

This would have been perfect narrating at the end of the Reaction 🤣
"...can we not skip the OP?"
I felt that

Kaguya-Sama has had 2 live action movies in Japan, so this was a nice shot back at the industry from the author
Were they bad?
@@hitachiuchihamagicwand2776 Yup

Can't help but love that this plotpoint was subtle revenge from the og mangaka for the allegedly poor live action adaptation of Kaguya-sama. 😏
There's a live action for Kaguya Sama?
@@akritianwesha4151 yes and it's terrible
Ohhh sooo... The manga is came after the announcement of kaguya-sama la?
I like how Akasaka made the manga in the story a shoujo as its the demographic that gets the most shit in adaptations
Ironic, since the Love Sweet story is the EXACT SHOUJO MANGA from Kaguya sama, the first hint of them being in same universe

The significance of the passcode is that its the first letter of each member of B Komachi's name
Can't help but root for Kana and her growth
