i used to use a heat gun for years. i learnt the hard way. its very slow and uses quite a lot of electricity. plus i burnt out 4 heat guns in my time. i have now moved on to a propane blow torch, with the flame turned right down. its pretty much the same as a heat gun but faster and hotter. just keep the flame on low. cheers

when you first try, you will probably over heat the board. but after some time you get a feel for it. cheers

Good show 1st time I herd someone say make sure the battery is out before using a heat gun good to know. I liked the comment about the propane torch after a few should work well but keep the flame moving around I say.

I am going to try this. Originally saw this video a little while ago, and decided to give it another look. I thought about using a propane torch, and maybe still will. I wanted to try this today, but there is a difference between 'well-ventilated' and the 40 mph winds we are having. Cheers and Thank you for your interesting videos!

You shouldn't use the heat gun to tap the board while heating it. You can easily break the heating coil while it's hot.

I know I broke my first heat gun that way but can't stop the habit lol

You lost me at toxic fumes . You do realize that’s a dust cup , not a respirator . Looks like your method works well though .

Just burn the cpu socket. Grind, put in water and pan then pick all the pins up with magnet.
