Just got one of these on an ebay bid for $500. I won't be able to afford the new touchscreen LIQ rn but this, or the old CIQ will do pretty well. Having switch info displayed is most important imo. The CIQ is disappointing because if there's POE someone said it yells at you to unplug it. What's the point? Half the stuff you test is on POE now and in a live environment.
Nice breakdown terry!

When your toning it out what do you need at the far side of the connection to find the other end?
We use the Fluke Intellitone probes, which are great. amzn.to/3qieAJu
Where did you purchase other than Amazon, CDW? Thanks
Ingram Micro. Better prices also.
I have one for sale in nyc Brooklyn
(I have the 2000) Seems like I get VLAN identification about 1/2 the time… wish it was more consistent
Hey can you tone even if the cable is live?
@@exile9237 Not sure how-. you have to unplug and connect to the LinkRunner to send a tone
@@anyfoolknowthat I guess what I meant was is it possible to tone a data jack back to a patch panel that is connected to a switch?
@@exile9237 if LLDP or CDP is running, you would never need to tone a live connection. It would tell you the port it was plugged into.
