Mike if you need a spokesperson... I'm your man. Your infinite wisdom on engineering is unquestionable but camera presence... Is that a MotoIQ car? I know you guys like the NA cars but I still have my F80 M3 Comp (currently VF stage 1 tuned) if you guys are interested in bolt-on development parts for additional numbers etc. Lemme know
Am I the only one that thinks go pro exhaust videos 2" from the exhaust tips are worthless examples of what the exhaust sounds like? Yet EVERY exhaust video seems to have at least one segment of distorted exhaust audio from some gopro camera on the rear bumper. Dont understand it.
@@motoiq Inside the cabin with an external microphone attached. The GoPro's stock microphone is utter crap. The other alternative is either doing a flyby with a normal camera or drive off with the exhaust facing the camera. Same goes for revving, just not in the way of exhaust gases (so you don't get the wind noises). I'm no camera expert, but videos where they had these or similar setups are the ones that have the best audio imo.
MotoIQ Try mounting a auxiliary microphone with a good filter on the rear spoiler and connect it to the Cameras. I enjoyed the video anyway, didnt sound too bad to me.
If you are listening on a good quality sound system with a subwoofer, it was one of the best clips by far. When it went to sport mode, the deep growl bass complete eargasm so yeah, awesome sound!
I appreciate vids where they dyno pre and post mod. 15 HP for the cost of the Dundon System sure confirms that there's no magic 40 HP to be released by their systems. Much appreciated!
Those are some solid gains for just an exhaust change in an NA car. What's the cause of that dip around 5k though? I'm not familiar with these engines, could this be because of stock sensor readings "adjusting" to the new exhaust system? I wonder if a remap could help alleviate this.
I personally think is a reflected wave off of the face of the cat brick. Later we were able to tune the dip out and get quite a bit more power. You can check that out here: motoiq.com/porsche-911-gt3-rs-tuning/
I just enjoy how all of these "tuners" think they're brilliant for bolting on parts that don't meet all of the regulations that OEM has to. The engineers at Porsche or any other manufacturer could do the same if they weren't bound by emissions or noise restrictions. Also throwing away that titanium exhaust for stainless steel 🤣
And so the factory does on cup cars. There is actually a lot of engineering in these headers, including pulse tuning over several orders of harmonics and a pretty sophisticated collector design that creates rarefactions in opposing cylinders in the firing order. Its needed as it is pretty hard to get more power from this motor. Also if you paid attention, the RS muffler is super fragile and breaks very easily. We also feel that there is a good possibility that the RS in stock form is louder than legal for the US, how the car was certified, we don't know but if you hear these cars on the track they are loud. The RS and the GT3 are also known to trip track sound meters on track days. Dundon also has a version of this same muffler that is quieter than stock for sound restriction tracks where the factory exhaust system causes the driver to get black flagged.
I don't understand what your gripe is about aftermarket mods. What makes me laugh is tuners that act like they love driving but they don't even kick a third pedal. Its a real let down to think this, which i see as the best looking Porsche to date (that includes the newest 2019 models) is only available with a PDK auto unless youre a millionaire and can afford the very overpriced and selfishly limited 911R. What a true tragedy that is.
@@1IRoyle If you have driven the PDK, you would probably love it. Most of us who have, don't want to go back to a 3 pedal, it's not a slushbox automatic. It's just like the shifting found in higher end race cars! Leave the sticks to low power fun to throw around cars. We have been racing manual transmissions for years and still like the PDK, it is a drivers aid just like the transmissions in F1 cars.
Id like to include that i thought this was a good video. Well produced and informative. I just feel that amateur automotive sports toys should be more like chess and less like a playstation. Ive never wanted my driving experience to be easier. I want it to be better. Essier cheapens the appeal. Its like, do high level chess players day dream about one day playing checkers? No. They wish for a more involved game by looking for more difficult opponents. Keep the PDK for the panamara. Ill take the car with no assists or luxury.
You said 7 extra ft lb but on the base you said 378 and then with the headers you said 335, can you clarify the correct numbers? Did you put the dundon race headers or the dundon street headers? Did you put the black center or orange center?
Little no improvement to sound while driving ? ... disappointing ... too bad as a lot of $ for a small power bump ... better sound in cabin thru rev range and I am all in
Great car. Great sound. I don't know if just under $7,000 (yes, I checked the cost) is worth 15hp and 7lbs/ft. I guess if you've got stupid money burning a hole in your pocket go for it.
Now e85, and find a way to throw more air into the engine. Bigger side intake pipes from the side air ducts and a better air filter? P.s. did you check airbox for grime and b.s.? That robs power and it always has something.
@@cutdepiefails6596 I believe but not 100% sure that you are wrong based on us looking at the 991.2 GT3 intake which is the same. We have not had the chance to see the 991.2 RS intake, however. Most of the major engine changes between the two models are in the valvetrain but there are some small changes in rotating mass reduction and stroke to rod length ratio. If you have an information source for the difference in intakes and can share your source we would appreciate that.
@@motoiq Probably still less wrong than you when saying there is no gains on increasing the ammount of air being pushed into the enginr. Trying to find it, heard/read it back when the car was being announced. The side pipes I'm pretty sure, the intake manifold is the one I'm not sure it was revised. On the valve train, gains are pretty irrelevant if cams are similar. It's more a matter of reliability rather then power. Oh and it would be a first when Porsche increases either rpm or engine capacity and doesn't revise the intakr size.
