Howver this video didn't make it clear if the laptop was in quiet, balanced, or performance mode (power button being blue, white, or red). This could see even better figures from the system due to power delivery being restricted which happens between balanced and performance mode and given rhe power button was basically white all video i can only assume he didnt actually get the fullll potential of it stats wise. Real world performance... it smashes anything and everything

It's just my opinion, but I daily drive it so I figured I'd share with you if you were thinking about getting a Slim, it's obviously sleeker and light for even better portability.
      Lenovo definitely catered to people like me who want power without it being all lit up. I just don't want someone to try to steal a $3000 laptop lol. I made it look like a crumby laptop with stickers and scratches on the case

    • @DOSStorm
      @DOSStorm Год назад +3

      I daily drive the G14 for work and I also video edit on it. I really like the form factor and its a fast little machine for games. It has a one major flaw that sort of prevents me from 100% recommending it to other people though. The default boost profiles for the CPU are way too aggressive, and the machine will irresponsibly turbo to 4.2ghz almost constantly. So you will be sitting there and the machine will just be idle and hitting 90C+. I've had it actually it hit the thermal limit and hard shutdown a few times because of these profiles.
      The profiles are controlled by a hidden registry setting that can be overridden if you make an edit to the registry. I disabled boost on mine and run it at the base clock of 3.3ghz which isn't ideal but is much more reliable. BIOS updates really haven't fixed this issue for me and I think anyone buying a G14 should at least be aware of this.

    The "nipple pointer" has been reserved for the ThinkPad series, historically. It would certainly be nice to see it on a Legion.
    I have the 2023 non-slim model of the 7i Pro and it's awesome. Never thermal throttles, runs all my games at minimum 60 FPS on High/Ultra settings and runs completely silently in 'quiet mode,' even under sustained load. The only downside is the short battery life, but that's the case for all Intel-based gaming laptops.

      Hey! I actually don't own Cyberpunk 2077 so I didn't try it personally. If you want to get an idea of general performance, I would look up benchmarks for the RTX 4070 laptop GPU on youtube. I will say if you're going to use RT it helps out quite a bit to use DLSS in most modern titles to maintain 60FPS. If you use the quality mode I find it has little impact on visual fidelity.

I think we can all assume that most modern gaming laptops are ran at the absolute thermal limit so no performance is left on the table right? Actual heat isn't really the issue. I was just questioning the real world advantage of the i9 over an i7 when it throttles so quickly.
      Its still a pretty good laptop either way, but if the i7 version was drastically cheaper I would buy that instead personally. With the throttling I don't suspect the i9 is that much more performant than the i7.
