  • The last moments of Virage Radio, which became Virgin Radio France on 15/04/2024 at 16:00 Local.
    Virage Radio changed its name 15 years after its launch on the former Couleur 3 France frequencies. This time, the new Virgin Radio will keep a Rock music format as Virage Radio.
    Recorded on 89.3 MHz (Lyon).

    Thank you for sharing this moment of transition. Obviously not coincidence Virage played Queen's ""The Show Must Go On". What was the reason for the takeover if you don't mind answering?

      I think that their main goal is to attract more listeners with a worldwide-known brand name. Also, they clearly want to create a true Rock station in France under this name, just like in some neighboring countries (Italy for example) and give the "Virgin" brand a second life in the country, which will be completely different to the previous version.

      @@TransistorFR Thanks for the reply. It sounds similar to here in the UK, with Bauer replacing stations on the FM band with Greatest Hits Radio as that is the most listened station of their media group.

      @@mutezone It looks different actually. Virage Radio was a Rock station owned by Espace Group for the past 15 years. It simply switched to the Virgin brand, the station is still owned by this same group.

    Sympa mais c'est dommage que ce soit pas une radio nationale, je dois écouter sur le site ou l'app.
