Thanks for a very helpful review, Chris. I've heard conflicting reports on this charger's ability to handle "D" cells. You mentioned D's among your battery capabilities list - just curious, did your evaluation/tests actually include charging/fitting D's?
Dude I know this is a. Older video but do you have a review of your preferred brand of rechargeable battery. I'm trying to get into rechargeable batteries but not sure where to start... thanks!
Dude I know this is an older comment, but I prefer IKEA LADDA over Enloops, I think they are just as good for half the price, IKEA isn't in my town but for $5 I can have IKEA products shipped to local pick up points, or for $13 shipped to my door
Thank god you moved inside. That wind noise was driving me nuts. Lol. But I didn't want to stop watching because I need something like this. On a somewhat related note, is there a brand of 18650 you prefer? I'm fixing to buy spares for my emergency gear.
Gabriel G Louw Most 18650s are mady by a small number of manufacturers; LG, Sanyo and Samsung for example. These batteries are graded and sold to companies who rebrand or rewrap them and add features like onboard charging or circuit protection. Many also overstate the amperage and capacity of the rebranded batteries. when you buy a battery you need to consider the device that will be using the battery, things like; flat top vs button top, chemistry such as IMR vs NCR vs ICR and protected vs non-protected need to be considered. For most flashlights, and I need to stress you check the documents that came with your device, I find that; o-light, nitecore and eagletac are very reliable and durable batteries in terms of rcr123 and 18650 batteries.
Four and a half months daily use and does more than expected and still works I call that a win and a good review. some times the K.I.S.S. {keep it simple stupid} method is the best method. Good job Chris.
Chris, your take on the charger in a practical way is great. I think 99% of people would be using the charger this way. The record function and test leads are really not important. When a cell becomes bad the charger will tell you anyway and you can toss it or burn it with the personal flamethrower!
Hey chris hope to see you fly your quad soon then. I know you didn't ask for assistance for flying but if you did I would have suggested Quadcopter 101. Channel. I also fly and his vid tough allot of us to be a good flyers. What did you end up getting for a quad.?
There's more than that. the other 2 important features are : 1) check capacity of your batteries using the Test mode 2) reviving dead rechargeable batteries.
This is different direction for your videos. I used to hearing about tarps, flashlights, knives, and cerro rods. I was a little shocked to see you blocking out the view of the shed at the beginning of the video. I thought something might have happened to the shed and you didn't want to break it to us😜.
And if you really want a charger that delivers the most bang for your buck you'd get an XTAR XP4. Sure you can't read the voltages but id's adjustable in three loading steps and takes a ton of batteries. You can also decharge with it and load via USB cable (when insterted an 18650). Sells for 22USD instead of 59...
Cool charger, I have been looking for a replacement for one of my universal chargers that blew up a while ago. THANKS Chris! Haha, you have a Himalayan Salt lamp behind you! I have the same one behind me right now, LOL. Great minds man!
Good enough review Chris, I also reviewed this, I'm a TECH so when I have the video edited I'll put it up - cheers man. Gotta say tho I also lack focus, so it could be a while lol - scatterbrained knowledge sponge!
The problem with the charger is no individual control over bays even in pairs you cannot set charging current as 0.5amp for 2 bays and 1amp for other 2 it is very annoying.
Two weeks ago you told me not to look at your upcoming Xstar review. Sorry, but I did it anyway. And yes, I do know the function of the Test and Record Mode. You ever have to send stuff to the Cal Shop on a Tender or a Base when you were in? Same kind of Electronic Voodoo stuff. But that does look like a good piece of kit. Now back to letting my Dog out in (currently) 23 degree Weather. Yea Ohio.
It only talks when it knows it can carry on an intelligent conversation. Just kidding. lol I have a lower version and it works well. I like that it can charge any number of batteries (up to 4, of course) and the batteries can all be different.
Thanks Chris! This is exactly what I was looking for. However, my previous charger has the advantage that I can charge the batteries of my vape device via USB and my anker. Nevertheless: perfect device. Greetings, Frank
garbage charger, i've sent it 3x to service and it failed again...simply garbage... all of them failed and since one point, will show that it charge batts even if batts are not inserted, one of them smoked after using it as it was, yeah, it charges that way, but it will burst in smoke if you are using it after it fails and charges the god damn air!
Wow this charger is that old it's still ranking #1 for reg home consumers i got one otw today 18650batterystore.com has them cheaper then i could find iN USA🇺🇸 NOT🇨🇳 China just takes forever to get grim China
It's not listed on their site but I enjoyed the video as I'm in the market for a charger. Keep them coming!
I found it on batteryjunction
+Ken Coulter pinning this because someone answered with the same answer I found.
Double click the Record / Test button to turn the voice on or off as wanted. Thanks for showing this charger. I didn't know about this one. Very cool!
Yeah, but will it bring me back to the future?
Just watched this whole video, thanks for the shout out Chris... Looks like and awesome charger...
Great test. Got me looking at it to say the least. I am a techy and I can not wait to get my hands on this badass.
Can you use a solar charger to power these chargers?
Thanks for a very helpful review, Chris. I've heard conflicting reports on this charger's ability to handle "D" cells. You mentioned D's among your battery capabilities list - just curious, did your evaluation/tests actually include charging/fitting D's?

Can you charge a battery by using the two usb red black probes?
Or they are just for test/probe. Thks.

This thing is cool! Finally a single charger that will handle most (if not all) that I have. Thank you for showing this.
That fancy little charger needs to be in my life. Thanks Chris.
How does this compare to Nitecore's D4? Or is there a higher model Nitecore I haven't heard of?
JST4CYL nitecore sc4

I use the test leads to check voltage often, usually it only charges NimH batteries to 1.41v so I put them in a second time to get them closer to 1.5v
Will it work from a solar panel or do you have to plug it in?
Very cool looking charger, tester.....and so on...those crystal lights look great. .
Hey did I miss something. What are you using a 3s bat for chris.?
+Mitch Rivers Drone I don't know how to fly yet.

Great video Chris. I ended up buying the last battery charger you recommended. Looks like I have another to add to the cart!
Chris what rechargable batteries do you recommend in AA? I just ordered my first olight s2a and I'm totally new to recharging batteries ..thanks
Fujitsu rechargeable AA's. I'm using that on mine.
Go to Ikea and buy those white Ikea AA or AAA
check the label if they said made in Japan, they are actually Sanyo / Panasonic Eneloop Pro
There's more than that. the other 2 important features are :
1) check capacity of your batteries using the Test mode

I have this same device, but to use the probes, you should use the ends of the TEST LEADS - NOT THE SIDES! Thanks.
Been looking at these, thanks for the review
A technical review we can all understand
For the preparedmind, it can also charge your cell phone when the power goes out.
I remember the A battery in tube type portable radios.
thanks yes this is an good item.

Great video, Dude.
8:45 LoL ;-)
the best aa/aaa rechargeable battery charger EVER is the Ansmann 8 or 16 bay chargers.
Amazing and as usre friendly as one can expect.
Very good job bro...
Looks interesting. Can't wait to read 'NLee The Engineers' review on Amazon! :)
It only talks when it knows it can carry on an intelligent conversation. Just kidding. lol I have a lower version and it works well. I like that it can charge any number of batteries (up to 4, of course) and the batteries can all be different.
WTF is in the background? Look like tombstones. Are you hiding something from us Chris?
chuckv5150 ...oh my goodness. you have no idea.
great video i could really use one of these
Thanks Chris. I would buy at 40 bucks
Li-ion rechargeables should not be deeply discharged, it extremely shortens their life cycles.
Time for a haircut! LOL
Something about this video reminds me of the movie "Something About Mary". Hmm.. :)
I want it
Thanks Chris! This is exactly what I was looking for. However, my previous charger has the advantage that I can charge the batteries of my vape device via USB and my anker. Nevertheless: perfect device.

I get lonely sometimes, LMAO!
Well you should get your DNA tested to see how closely you are related to Robert Downey Junior.
