Lovely! Sarah was right about pink bathroom tiles being retro. My aunt said that the fashionable city ladies in the 1950s had pink tiled bathrooms. Bear in mind that my Grandma and Grandpa lived in a Sears house on 5 acres in the country, and the bathroom was literally only for bathing...in a metal wash tub/horse trough, in water pumped from the well into the kitchen sink (a hand pump, not a faucet) and boiled on the large electric range in the kitchen. I only snuck one glimpse into the bathroom once, and got scolded for it, because the bathroom is a private room, no ifs ands or buts. But I recall it being a scary room with nothing on the wall studs -- no drywall or anything. I don't know why that scared me. I was only maybe 5. That was in 1966, but Grandpa never updated the plumbing out of pure stubbornness. Well, he did have to replace the pump in the kitchen sink with a faucet, and he did eventually install a water heater that was heated with the massive wood furnace in the mudroom. My grandma had died of cancer when I was a baby, so she never got to exert influence to upgrade when it became more affordable and common in the 1960s. My aunt loved going to her friends' homes after school. It was a Catholic school, so there was a mix of city and country kids, and my aunt so wanted to live like her city friends. All of that popped into my mind the moment I saw those pink tiles.
The tub coming down the stairs was hilarious 😂! The whole house shook 🤣. I love your house and I am glad that DIY different turned me on to your channel.
Only 8 minutes in, but have to say Sarah's work on the porch posts, lattice and trim is absolutely beautiful! Great patience on that lattice, that is some serious work.
The porch columns look amazing! Loved the Kool-Aid man impression and the tub down the stairs...lol! Thanks for the video and keep up the great progress!
It's pretty amazing the skills and the knowledge that have been attained during this entire renovation. Thank you for sharing this fantastic journey with your family. Good luck!
You should save some of that old flower panelling from the bedroom and turn it into a framed art piece for when the rooms done. A nice little reminder of what the house used to be
Painting and sealing just takes forever but it always looks so nice when it's done. 😊 Vintage late 1950's/60's Pink Tile!!! Almost as bad as that turquois tile they used to put up!!
Love that Sarah took over the camera for a bit there! it's fun to see some of the projects from her view point. The demo looks good! Can't wait to see how you frame it all out to use the space.
Fun video! Loved the fall colors and the beautiful paint/stain work on the greenhouse and porch. The bathroom demo went a lot quicker ... can't believe you actually threw the tub down the stairs, fun. And incredible hulk breaking threw the wall, lol. What fun to see you all having fun with the fall leaves. Beautiful memories.
Sarah you did a great job. Those posts are beautiful and the lattice is also..painting them made a huge difference. And Lucas, that was a perfect song to accompany Sarah working in the first part of the video..had me in tears. I don't know why this channel doesn't have a few hundred thousand subscribers at least! I know you have said that isn't so important to you but it just doesn't make sense! The closing scene with everybody playing in the leaves was such a perfect way to close this video..couldn't help but smile.
I LOVE the little "living life" parts you put into your videos like the kids building their forts or playing in the leaves etc. Thanks for that. Also. demolition sucks. I always hated that part (doing it) so I empathise with you.
I stained lattice once...one time too many! 😜. The wasp nest brought back memories of one fall when my father found one and gave it to my daughter. It ended up in her bedroom closet and the following spring we started seeing wasps in the house. Eventually I tracked them down to the nest. Evidently there were eggs that hatched into wasps! The nest was banned to the outside. Same thing happened a few years later with praying mantis but there were a lot more of them! Best plan for bug nests, cocoons, etc. is keep them in a jar with a tight lid on! 🤣 Did you save the switch plate on the outside of the bathroom, very cool looking imo. You're making great progress on the demo, my favorite part of renos! 👍☺️👏
Lucas and Sarah, things are looking so so good. I hope you can recoup any of that lumber that is good for reuse or odds and ends down the road. I love the stain you are putting on the porch Sarah, the soffits and facia's and trim.........all beautiful. The poles you got and saved are absolutely perfectly beautiful and look like they belong there............love the color. Absolutely loving it all. Lucas you look like you are having fun throwing things down the stairs.......LOL I bet that tub weighed a ton. Excited to see what you do next. Love that the whole family is hanging out and doing things........so fun! Great video!!!!
Wow! What an amazing video! The opening was a moving salute to your special lady, Lucas....that was very nice (beautiful, in fact)! And, man, is she special! You surprise me with your abilities every time you appear, seriously! Awesome work, Sarah....from start to finish (literally and figuratively 😆)! Thank you all! You've a wonderful team there, Lucas!
Watching your wonderful family take apart, and then put back together this amazing home has been more than a pleasure. Getting to know you all, and watching the house restoration, and your children grow, has made me smile, and be grateful, for you sharing it all with us! Thank you all, for enriching my life! 🥰🥰
It really was lol (literally lol, not the phrase) when you went kool-aid man on the wall. Should've had a red shirt on. That room is huge and can't wait to see the "blueprints" plans
Loved the leaves leaps at the end😄🤣🥳🙏. You are all fabulous... and Elsbeth with the camera at the beginning👏💞! And yes Sarah, I remember you finding the beams...they look incredible. Well done💜.
Wow! Just never know what your gonna find when you demo. Sarah did an awesome job with her painting & oiling of the porch, and green house. I would have sprayed the lattice, she has more patience with it then I would. I have sure enjoyed watching you renovate your home. You also live in a beautiful part of your state. I miss seeing the tree's change. I grew up in the mid west, been on the west coast for over 50years, It's overrated. LOL
Sarah, your work on the porch looks so, so good and your squirrel mentality has really worked for you on a number of occasions. We really get to see how sturdy houses used to be built in your demolitions. I almost died laughing when you came through the wall like the hulk Lucas 😅.
Hello. Thanks for the great video, I had the best laugh of the day when the tub rolled down the stairs and and when the breaker hammer flew through the wall and also when you came through the wall. Thanks for you shared that too. All the best to you and strength for renovation work continuation and everything else that is everyday life for you. Stay Safe & Take Care.
My brother and I put a tub surround over horrible green tiles in one of the houses I was living in. There were tiles missing and of course water was going inside the wall.
Great video. Kudos to Sarah and the girls for getting the wood done. It looks great. The upstairs demolition is almost complete. That's got to feel good. Lucas, why did didn't you swing into the leaves? Looked like fun.
What do you guys think about doing a cathedral ceiling in your master bedroom? Doing that with exposed wooden beams like downstairs going up those angled shiplap ceilings would be so gorgeous. I think if you guys found a larger antique chandelier like the one you guys have near your main staircase and hung that in your bedroom, with the shiplap, beams, cathedral ceilings, and refinished wooden floors, it'd be like farmhouse heaven. I know you guys would do such a beautiful job if you decided to do this! ❤
We actually just talked about that a couple days ago.. we like the idea a lot too.. once we get it all demolished and cleaned we’re going to envision it!!
@@1806StoneHouse I'm so happy! I think the shiplap planks you uncovered on the ceiling in your recent videos would look amazing sanded and refinished like the bleacher boards you did. Amazing work🥰
Painting the lattice.....use a roller on the boards that are proud of the surface and then use a wide brush for the reset boards. This is the fastest way I have found other than spraying of course. 🙂
'How to stain lattice' ... my choice would be 'prior to building it' ... but I'm sure there's reasons why that wouldn't be the proper way ;-) Loved the 'Kool-aid Man' move through the bathroom wall ... ah, memories
The amazing color you already have in trees is so beautiful. I'm in Piedmont of SC and it was 82 today. But end of week 38 at night. Maybe now we get some color too!
This is so beautiful. Everything - the family, the work, the devotion. I love seeing everyone and getting to know them. I made a "house" on a cement slab after Dad took down the shed. I was 6--63 now.
I don't know what you intend to do about those back stairs but, if it were my house, I'd love having them. Not only is it a shortcut to the new kitchen area but a 2nd fire escape. I know "it's your house" and I'm sure when your done it will be just as nice as the rest of the house. You two have worked so hard over these last years and learned and accomplished so much. It proves that it you want something bad enough and are willing to work hard, you will attain it. Keep up the good work, keep well and safe. GBWY
That was funny when you said you weren’t going to throw the tub down the stairs & then all of sudden it came down the stairs 😂🤣😂🤣

I had that all loosened...🙌 🤣
The squeals of laughter...🤣🤣🤣 💙

Pure JOY kids laughing swinging into the leaves 🍁

The poles-the whole porch, looks amazing!
That brings back memories of jumping in the leaves.
Love the tub sliding down the stairs!
The leaf pile and the children❤️❤️❤️
Storybook greenhouse. I like it!
Great job on this demo!!! Love the humor too! You have such a beautiful family , your home is filled with love and it shows ! 🙌🏼🥰

To have vaulted ceilings like that in my bedroom would be my dream.
Throwing that bathtub down the stairs gave me a good chuckle 😃
It was the only way. Hahaha.
I don't miss raking leaves, but they can be a lot of fun to play in.
I LOVE the little "living life" parts you put into your videos like the kids building their forts or playing in the leaves etc. Thanks for that. Also. demolition sucks. I always hated that part (doing it) so I empathise with you.
I laughed so hard at you chucking the tub down the stairs right after you said you weren't going to do that 🤣
The opening song was perfect, so fitting!!!!
Busting through that wall reminded me of the old time KoolAid commercial LOL
My favorite part of demo, the fire pit! Great job!

I have to say I have never seen tiles on ceiling before, very interesting to say the least!!!
Great progress guys!
Me neither its a first

Ha! Tossing that tub down the stairs was the highlight of the demo! Haha
Your intro was so professional. You’ve had some classes I see. Two fisted painting, excellent!! A good paint makes the job so much easier.
Bahahahaha 😂loved the tub going down the stairs !!!
You were just like the Kool-Aid man. Lol Breaking through the wall.

Just the cleanup is a huge job alone 😳. Your vision for what can be is admirable.

You did a great job on your deck. Looks amazing. 🙂🇨🇦✌
the swing into the leaf pile is EPIC!! Sarah's vlogging was spot on
So fun, sending the tub down the stairs!
Loved the Kool Aid Man reference!
Oh my God I laughed out loud when I saw the bathtub come sliding down the stairs and hit the wall!
Rusty old razor blades could be a hazard and potatoes grow well in bathtubs. Keep on keepin' on.
My brother and I put a tub surround over horrible green tiles in one of the houses I was living in. There were tiles missing and of course water was going inside the wall.
I just plain love your channel🤗❤️

Was I the only one who thought of the Kool aid man when you came through that wall?😂 you guys are doing a great job on everything.
A beautiful home, for a beautiful family.
Sponge brush on the lattice is a good option.
Love the cameo appearance of the woolly bear caterpillar at 6:50
love the kool aid man reference! doing some great work in that room!
Painting the lattice.....use a roller on the boards that are proud of the surface and then use a wide brush for the reset boards. This is the fastest way I have found other than spraying of course. 🙂
Wow you got a lot done. Well done with the demolition. I know its a lot of hard work to clean it all out. The porch is also looking great,
I think you can still buy those double edge razor blades. I remember my dad & grandfather using them in the 70's.
Great video again! Thank you! 👍😁
Demo is the beginning of something wonderful. Hugs
It would be so cool to be able to raise the ceiling another 6 feet or so for that room!! Love you coming through the wall!!
You'll are turning into renovation rock star's.
Excellent work, beautiful house and beautiful family ❤
Great work Sarah!!!! Also that song you used in the beginning was so sweet!
It’s been a while since I last watched. I have a lot of catching up to do. The kiddos look so big!
The porch is beautiful!!! Well worth the work and hours painting. I love love love the poles.
Sarah! That’s sooo pretty! Fantastic job!
Sarah, you did a beautiful job outside. Also, love watching demo!! Take care and be blessed.
Making progress . Nice to see more progress.
Everything looks so beautiful now, Sarah you have done a fantastic job.
The tree leaves❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻
Good job! Love the swing at the end
On the tub, the numbers with the dial are the manufacturer date code, usually month and year.
It’s very much easier to spray paint lattice than to brush paint it. Just a tip for next time - if there’s ever a next time!
ok - i LOL'd at the tub down the stairs...
'How to stain lattice' ... my choice would be 'prior to building it' ... but I'm sure there's reasons why that wouldn't be the proper way ;-)
Loved the 'Kool-aid Man' move through the bathroom wall ... ah, memories
Getting excited to see your renovation ideas.
Paint looks great.😀

Wow you have done so much. You rock Lucas and Sarah love the autumn leaves jumps at the end.
Hard work and much labour making the alterations, look forward to the end results. As for all the painting its looking so beautiful, well done. 🌝
I think the pros spray on the stain for lattice and fencing.
Enjoyed seeing that, thank you. You will have a lovely spacious bedroom and well deserved. The Autumn colours are beautiful.
You guys are really putting in the effort to have beautiful home! More power to you too.
I just realised I’ve been watching your vids for 5 years🎉 but had to re subscribe a few times after it dropped off my list for some reason
Thanks for hanging out! It’s been fun sharing with you 👍👍
Those pink and white tiles look like coconut ice candy.
You two are such hard workers! Your home and its’ setting are becoming so pretty! Love the thought you put into your work! Keep on demoing!❤😊
omg lol the 'oh yeah' got me XD
Thank you for posting!!! xoxoxo
Looks really nice Sarah ❣️❣️❣️
Cool!
