Faith Lawrence at first I didn't really realized they were wearing mask so I only thought that media were aiming at jisoo after making mistake but when someone pointed out the mask it gets more interesting and meaning behind it is more deeper, anyone can hide behind the mask like in Internet. The production really outdone themselves here.

I'm fascinated with pop music and take a sociological interest in how these constructions of culture function at a social level and at a political level. I particularly liked how you picked up the traditional temple design. The main set, the floating upside down pyramid also looks like a temple. The video I think has a sort of timeline, beginning with that stone structure through various architecture, ruined Western looking church, even a post-apocalyptic world that's devastated and on fire, maybe through war? But then it reaches that final glossy colour neon "dance" temple. Which sums up a view of modern Korea, or Asia in general, perhaps? Surviving and thriving because of a certain attitude to difficulty, which these women reflect? I can also see a bit of a hit at white colonialism and views about "Asia" and "Asian women." To make that clear, on the chessboard, Jennie uses the Black queen to knock over the white king. Hmm. Cool move. Anyway, I've watched a lot of reaction videos to this particular MV to gauge how actual fans feel and most are rendered a little inarticulate by it at first. That inarticulate reaction or inexpressible desire to say something that can't quite be said, is also ironically in the lyrics. "What you gonna do when I Come come through with that that uh uh huh?" "Ddu ddu du," might mean anything. It's only in a "making of the MV" video, Jennie says it's about bullets. But otherwise it is just a catchy sound that could have several meanings. It reminds me of the lyric device "Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron" from the 1963 hit by The Crystals. Phil Spector was the Teddy of his day (Although I hope Teddy is not as unstable!)
