Nothing more cathartic than a burning pile.
I recall this feeling, when my father died, and I was left to fish out his hoard, in order to sell the property. All by myself.
Luckily it was out in buttf*ck nowhere, so I could build a bonfire. Spent about a week raising one up every night, and then digging out the ash the next morning. Not good times. But therapeutic, at the very least.
