I used to get calzones at a pizza shop in Medford NJ and they would put in anything you wanted. I'd get sausage (or pepperoni or ham) with mozzarella, mushrooms, diced onion, diced peppers, and sometimes olives (though I HATE olives). That thing would feed me for a whole day and usually only cost about $6. One time I got one that was so big they charged me $15 for it. It took me 3 hours to eat it all (I was at work that day) and didn't need to eat anything else until noon the next day.
I was in Denver some years back n some friends from the office took me out for lunch n we ate a Calzone stuffed with meat balls, sauce, cheese n everything. Kinda like a supreme calzone it was great. Where is your place located.
- Take a sour dough - Flatten it in round shape or square - Brush lightly with olive oil inside - Fill with Chicken shreds + mushrooms + spinach leaves + mozzarella & cheddar - Cover up and make crust - Brush slightly with olive oil - Sprinkle sesame seed + oregano - Oven cook and serve with sauce of your choice
"Now time to put the Ricotta Cheese on the calzone. A lotta people don't like that, but it's what we do." In other words, "Screw You! I don't give a shit what you think!"
What I usually do is add tomato sauce in the Calzone, and I usually add only a little bit of Ricotta, mainly cause I don't like the texture. The flavor's great though
It's not a calzone without riccota. Riccota seasoned with a bit of garlic powder is the best, goes with anything else you would add. I tried telling the guy who used to try selling calzones here in West Virginia. He didn't listen and he went out of business pre-pandemic.
How do italians stay so thin even though they eat pasta and bread and sausage. I want to know that. The Roman soldiers all had excellent physiques and they were eating stuff like this. I don't get it and I'm very jealous 😤.
In Italy they blew inside the dough to make it high not the full it till the top?? Why he ain't doing that healthy rubbish or something at least this is for me not a calzone
*HE* may know what he's doing but *WE come away learning absolutely NOTHING* about how to make a calzone at home. I think he does these vids for the product placement. I've watched 2 vids and all I came away with were the brands of tomatoes and cheeses he's pushing. I'm done. I want to learn how to improve my Italian home cooking.
I scrolled down until I saw the most Italian looking guy I could find, that's when I knew that this was the best video

"O sole mio" which is a globally known Neapolitan song written in 1898. The lyrics are by Giovanni Capurro and the melody is by Eduardu di Capua.
Great video, thank you. Kind regards from South Africa.
Perfectly executed! Ricotta and then the sauce must be on the side.
No eggs, not a bunch of seasoning added. 🎉 This is exactly what I was looking for! ❤

We use ricotta. A lot of people don't like that but we're in New York and we don't care
Does the sausage need to be cooked or can it be raw when making the calzone?
Looks tasty!

You should have cut it open so we could have seen the inside!

Then just research how to make a homemade pizza dough. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to add in ur fillings & bake it.
an half - (italian) full of classics and stupids stereotypes... shame on you!
