Very nice😋 Here in the West of Germany, the potato pancake is called “Kartoffelpuffer ” or "Reibekuchen" depending on the region. As a child, I loved them very much and they are still special to me. We always eat apple puree with it. That is why we also say “heaven and earth. ” Because the potatoes grow in the ground and the apples grow high up in the tree. If I had the choice between a pizza and a potato pancake, I would always choose the Kartoffelpuffer. You can eat them sweet, so with apple puree or rather hearty with grated onions in the dough.
    Delicious, thanks for sharing...

Up there in Sweden, they have some sweet-ish kinda bread and have it with sausages like salami. Funny, how this is a thing in so many regions. Like the german combination of pears, green beans and pork. "Birnen, Bohnen und Speck."
      And it can be delicious.

I'll have to give this recipe a try. Similar though in some ways very different to a recipe I grew up with & still make regularly today.
I grate new potatoes though I don't add anything else. I pour in a generous amount of sunflower oil, of course, & then fill a medium size pan covering the whole pan about 15 mm thick. The pan is quite hot when I first start then a minute into cooking I turn the heat down just below medium and cook uncovered for approx 6 minutes each side until crispy golden brown. Cooking uncovered the water steams out leaving the outside crispy and the inside soft and moist like proper twice cooked British chips.
By not adding any other ingredients you can then top it sweet or savoury .

Great video, those look great and easy to make. Here in the US, at least in my family, we make potato pancakes out of left over mashed potatoes. My dad always makes extra mashed potatoes just so he can make them. You have to used leftover mashed potatoes too, they don’t stay together unless they have been chilled overnight in the refrigerator. Basically you just add chives and minced onions to the mashed potatoes, mix well, form small patties, and fry. You can also add cheese and bacon, really good that way.
Thanks for sharing, I will have to make these soon.

This is a little similar to the Lithuanian bulviniai blynai (which is also potato pancakes). This looks so good, btw! Lots of love from Lithuania!🥰❤

My Mutti taught us this recipe, she also made them in the oven, just grated them finer, lined the bottom of a pan with onion slices, like a layer of pie crust, and put oil over and then poured the potatos over, about 2 cm thick, and into the wood stove oven they went, for about a hour.
It was the winters that she made this, as the wood kitchen stove was the housed heat source, unless it got to -1C.

Wonderful, and super happy to see your recipe. Potato pancakes are also very popular in Canada and yours are very similar to how they are made here. As a variation, I will sometimes use green onions (or scallions as they are sometimes called) to give them a bit of colour, or sometimes I'll add just a little bit of nutmeg to give them a slightly different flavour. These videos are wonderful to see and I look forward to seeing what you do next.

Looks amazing! I've done similar but added salmon or tuna for potato and fish cakes, and mashed instead of grated. Also other spices. :)
Great video, I will try this. Thank you.

I made these a couple of times so far with a couple of "modifications". I mixed a whole roll of cooked, ground, pork suasage into mine and 1/8 tsp of chili powder into your recipe. Everybody had an empty plate after a few minutes. I will make these every weekend until once again Ukraine is a "FREE COUNTRY"!
