The script font is a homage to university of Michigan and msu hockey jerseys since they’re playing into the college thing
You can even make the leap that the wings on the helmet also pay homage to the "winged" helmet the university of michigan teams do. Unless one pays attention to UM athletics they might not catch that.
I see Alot of hate about that, but even as a Jackets fan I think that script is pretty clean and the sweaters as a whole are way better than both RR's in my opinion.
Funny how people are saying this when MSU 1) also uses a script word mark, and 2) the font is more closely related to the spartans "squared off" script (like what we see on this jersey) whereas UM's is more curved/smooth.
As a huge CBJ fan I love these! The cannon is iconic for us and I'm so excited to get my order, I got a Werenski one and my wife got a Marchenko one.
Fanatics did a great job on the jerseys. The redwings should wear them as an alternate in the near future

I give the columbus one a plus and that's my opinion
I have a feeling that CBJ will replace their cannon jersey with this one OR make them their primary uniforms with some modifications

...they're just so small, relative to other Stadium jerseys, and theyre only risks because the Red Wings never do anything different unless told to

I'm not a St Louis fan but I really liked the jersey. So I waited to see if it would go on sale and it did. Then immediately after I purchased it for $94 (USD), it went to $84 (USD). It's nice that it went on further sale I wish I waited even further. But I think it was worth it at that price but I fully agree $289 (USD) is ludicrous!
Detroit should make those helmets permanent. Minus the stripe down the middle
You have to think for us Columbus fans, we have never had an outdoor game, winter classic, or even media attention generally. So in that sense, having stadium series jersey finally and something unique justifies the price. Just my opinion.
Love that the Wings got Al into their jersey. If the Wings went with a permanent 3rd jersey I would be fine with what they did.
If the Wings went for a 3rd........the 2009 or 2014 Winter Classic unis are miles better.

I'm seeing Detoit Tigers in Red Wings colours.
It's actually much more like a Pistons alternate they've done in recent past, very similar lettering
to their City Editions for a year or two ago.
I think the jersey is setting up to give us an actual regular-use alternate for the Red Wings for the first time ever. I think they intentionally made it less "over the top" compared to most stadium series so that they can use it going forward. Which I would love because personally, this jersey is perfection.
Already have my tickets for the game, looking forward to seeing both uniforms on the ice! Based on the pictures they both look really good

Stadium Series …you take risks, or so you say. Last year the Rangers instead of Rangers word mark do NYR, and you all loved it. While also saying you hate word marks. I’ll never understand what jersey critics want.
I've explained this in multiple videos in the past. Long words, script or not, I don't like. Short words or abbreviations are fine. RANGERS, too long. NYR, totally fine. VEGAS, fine. BOLTS, fine. PITTSBURGH, too long. Additionally, script style logos are more indicative of retro or classic style design language vs modern (stadium series) looks.
I like what both teams have done for this series. Hope I can say the same for my Bolts when it’s time for there stadium series.
It's not on here but Detroit has a patch on the back bottom part of the jersey of their octopus mascot
When I filmed it there were no photos released of it yet, but I saw it after and it's AMAZING!

I've been to Nationwide to see a game, and the Cannon it was worth every penny and minute of my time. I live in Niagara canada and I had a blast.
The red stripe on the Columbus jersey makes it look too much like a Kraken jersey; the initial pics I saw on Sportsnet had blue lighting added to it, so yeah...
A better logo for the Red Wings would incorporate an octopus wearing a Red Wings jersey, seeing how octopi fit into the team's traditions and culture...
if the Blue Jackets ever change their logo it should be to that new Cannon and make it a little smaller it looks great and stands out
Ironically, the C (Captain’s Patch) on the Blue Jackets jersey also serves as the initial for the State Capital of Ohio, which is Columbus.
The Detroit one is a reference to ncaa jerseys.
Columbus should have put a thin stinger green strip under the red stripe and put a stinger tag like the redwings did the octopus
I almost see Detroit's as a test to see if they can finally introduce a third jersey.
As a wings fan I love it! You must not remember how boring the wings can be.. remember RR 1.0?…. Haha this is more than I thought they would do boldness wise. I’m very happy with it
To be fair the Premium line jersey for CBJ you picked the price for is for a fully customized player jersey not just a blank. These will both likely go on sale a day after the game for cheap. Neither is a must buy for me IMO

Inside the neck of the Columbus jersey, right behind the word mark, it is decorated with Buckeye leaves because the game is at Ohio Stadium

As a Wings fan, the design explanation from Fanatics is comical. I can kinda see the similarity of the Detroit logo to the old Ford and Chevrolet logos, but the font is nowhere close. There is nothing about the jersey that says "automotive industry". Racing stripe? Please. My first thought when seeing the helmet was college football. That being said, I don't hate them. They're just okay.
I have to respectfully disagree about the Wings uniforms. I'm a Detroit fan and I LOVE them. I usually am not a fan of text logos, but this one, when combined with the incorporation of the wings on the shoulder and helmet, looks great to me. I know there's always the idea that Detroit needs to keep it pretty classic - although I think I usually hear this from people who disagree with it; maybe the idea itself comes more from the organization - and I feel like this strikes a nice balance.
Does anyone know when the Wings jerseys will be available online? I really don’t want to miss out on them 😬

I love the Detroit one I think it’s perfect. I mean the helmets are a little bit too much but the jersey itself in my opinion is way better than any reverse retro they released. As for the Columbus one not really a big fan I don’t really like the gray stripes on the sleeves and at the same time it looks too bland.
I think Detroit’s look is classic and clean. Would make a great 3rd jersey. The helmet is kind if cool, remove the center stripe though.
Columbus did a nice nod to military history (I am a Military Historian by training). Though the silver is not really a color used on Union chevrons. Should have used red (the 19th Century color for Artillery). I like the nod to Ohio. I always thought it would have been fun if Columbus did what the NHL Barons did when they had the arm numbers surrounded by a map of Ohio. Will probably buy a cap or shirt, but no way a jersey, as the price is just ridiculous! Pure greed there. Especially since they were probably made in some third world country for $20, if that.
$489 for a hockey sweater. I don’t care if it’s authentic, that’s a mint and priced out of most fan’s budgets. That includes my budget. Boo hoo. I get it. If you can’t play in that arena, don’t sweat it. They ask for a months grocery money for one sweater. Again, boo hoo. At that point, I cease to care.
On a brighter note, I just ordered a Prime Green Lightning jersey for $80 on Fanatics! That leaves me with money for a hat AND a hoodie! (And yes, I did see the “authentic” sweater on the site… for $489.)
The diagonal stripes on the Columbus jersey are a miss for me. The numbers are very squared off and the striping at the bottom is straight horizontal, then out of nowhere there's just a random stripe. Doesn't read “chevron” at all.
I would be interested to see the designs mentioned that members of the community have done better than this, from the videos I've seen I can't say that I would agree on almost any of them for these two teams. Detroit's almost always underwhelm and I don't know what they could do that would really be praised. I'd agree they play it too safe a lot of the time, but it very quickly becomes “too much” so they can't seem to win.
I do think Detroit's will be more impressive in the hand where you can see that debossed striping and the Al the Octopus tag among the other small details, I'm just not sure how they could have made those read louder from a distance, maybe a slightly darker red or something. Echoing the pattern on the socks is a nice touch, but yeah... too subtle.
The helmet is inspired by Hasek’s helmet IMO. I like the script logo as we know Detroit will not go too crazy. They did use a combo script/logo in their first outdoor game with Toronto. N
Of course they won't go to crazy, they don't have to ,because they have one of if not the best classic primary logos in the whole league.

Detroit jersey = meh - very very meh. could have at least put a sublimated wing on the red part of the sleeves, just do something a bit different. Columbus = WOW - that logo is HUGE!! It's the better jersey, it's ok but it's not brilliant. Would make a good new home jersey if they re-branded.
