  • This is the first part of a small tutorial series, where I will show you how to model parametric timing pulley in SolidWorks 2019. The tooth profile corresponds to ISO 5294* standard.
    In this video we will gather dimensions and equations for modeling. I will show you where I found the information without having the ISO standard itself. We will also create .txt files with SolidWorks equations.

    Huge help. Huge. I did have to change on number from your eqn_XL_v1.txt the pulley tooth width (B1) of 7.5 was too narrow for the belts I got from McMaster - changed to 11mm. Otherwise the belt fit perfectly. Thank you.

      Thank you for your nice comment. Did you 3D print this pulley?

      @@richardkokstein Yes. Printed them (including some double pulleys) to make a reduction system for a rotating Christmas tree music box thing. (I drew it in FreeCad - not SolidWorks, but the process is similar.)

      @@LightAndSportyGuy Very cool! Glad to hear this model can create functional pulleys.

    How i can make pitch = 2mm.? For timing belt g2t

      Hello, this parametric model is not meant for modelling 2GT timing pulleys, but you can make some small changes to get a working model.
      1) Supress Bottom fillet, Top fillet, Cap neck extrude, Cap revolve and Cap mirror.
      2a) Change following global variables to match 2GT pulley dimensions: p, h12, h23, s (you can also change other variables to get more accurate model).
      2b) Your starting values could be: p = 2, h12 = 0.23, h23 = 0.75, s = 0.9 (you should find more accurate dimensions on the internet).
      3) Change number of teeth (z) and pulley width (b1) to match your needs.
      4) Try unsupressing the fillets (if you get errors, try changing the fillet sizes).
      Global variables should be changed one at the time to minimize a chance of breaking the model (change one value, rebuild, repeat). If you encounter errors, you can try changing the values just slightly and see at which point the model breaks, then you can adjust other values or make other changes to make it work.

    Can u share HTD equation

      Hello, I don't have HTD version of this model. You must look up HTD dimensions and modify the model to suit your needs. You can also find ready-to-use models. For example here is a catalog with decent models of different size HTD pulleys:

      @@richardkokstein shall u explain different between HTD vs iso 5294

    • @richardkokstein
      @richardkokstein  2 года назад

      @@dharmalingamv7447 The biggest difference is in tooth profile. ISO 5294 pulley has more straight/trapezoidal tooth gap. HTD has more rounded tooth gap, looks like half circle.
