I got my first solder kit from amazon and soldered a certified Apple iPhone cable by following your video. Thank you so much! I just saved time waiting for a new cable and money by not having to buy a new one. So cool.
I think this is a great tip for fixing these plugs, however don’t use an exacto knife. Use “electrical pliers” it makes it a lot easier to take that shielding off. On top of being easier it’s way safer too. Otherwise absolutely great video and if all you have is a knife then that’s ok, but if you have the proper tool then it’s much much easier

when i stripped mine it has the green, white, red, and silver wires just like your showing in this video but i also have an extra blue wire thta is not shown in your video. why do i have an extra blue wire and is it important or is it irrelivant? any guidance will be greatly appreciated. thank you

Next time stagger the wires to avoid issues with the shrink-wrapping of the wires. Overall, great video.

Nice fix. A suggestion pre tin the wires and use some small diameter heat shrink tube instead of tape.

My iPhone cables are now stronger than when I bought it from the Apple Store with the shrink tubes lol
