Man....I can see why Willie left OCMS which left a big hole in that band but he doesn't need anyone else to sing with, his voice is so powerful and it soars! He's like Hank Williams, with some Woody Guthrie thrown in, a touch of Townes Van Zandt and a whole lotta Appalachia Holler soul for good measure! What a talent....keep on keepin' on Willie!!
Great song! My Mom turned me on to folk before I knew what it was with songs like Cowboy Jack, Hobo Bill, Red River Valley. She use to tell about this little Filipino cowboy who use to come in with the freight every year to work on my Grandpa's threshing rig in the Red River Valley of the North. He sang and played guitar.
Great version of a old old Standard. Thank you Mr Engel, I have enjoyed it several times and if they come to this area, I will buy tickets they are truly great!
Robert, you've done a real service posting these bits. I've wanted to share so much from this special with friends that don't have Showtime, and, well, just thanks!
Robert Engel, I don't know who you are sir, but thank you thank you so so so much for making all of the videos of these amazing artists in such high quality available to the world. That video with Welch and Rawlings and Punch Brothers? Literally my two favorite groups together. My mind is blown and my heart so so grateful. Really, thank you.
DAVE RAWLINGS MIDNIGHT SPECIAL!!! Im watching a Showtime Special Produced by T Bone Burnett. Group called Dave Rawlings. T Bone is Producing a lot of retro music like Dylan, Baez. Im really liking it. I was impressed with the whole show. I really liked Dave. Heck I loved all.
Willy's voice is absolutely one of my favorites.
I know about all these troubadours but bless youtube's twisted soul for showing me this.
This is an awesome performance. I just discovered Willie Watson, and I think I'm in love. 😊
I love how much Gillian and Dave are enjoying Willies singing
I was just thinking the same thing😃😃. When you are the only one with real talent you can only expect tho use kind of looks🤨
isn't that nice.
@@gregorysullivan7175 apologies, having listened to a few more tracks, they are ok better a few years ago😃
They knew willie was killing it!
Damn he has the perfect voice for country/folk
Have you heard his version of Gallows Pole?
I mean 😊
The guy is an absolute megastar....with near zero following. It's baffling.
THANK YOU FOR THIS !
what a pleasant moment.. good ambiance. Magnifique 👏 song. Clear and beautiful CAPELLA. 😮❤
I usually play this with Creedence's verses in their order, but in willie's slow-then-pick-it-up style. Love folk music, so modular
this is the best version of this song, took a while to find
Beautiful. Thank you.

I'd compare his voice to del mccoury
Jim Croce
@@mastathf that's a good observation! I hear it now. This is as good as it gets!
Appalachian Holler, yeah was trying to think of that description.
The man should be a megastar. Maybe in a different life.
I love his unique voice
Country blues music at its best!
Frankly, I can't think of many better combinations of living artists that could grace a stage.
THAT is just pretty AWESOME !!!
Yeeeee!!! Rowdy as ten dicked Indian my generation needs a resurgence of this magic.
Big ol got dang smile on my face

This does it for me, the final definitive version of this. I love this group.
It's Willie man, the guy is just special
Good performance. Though Leadbelly wrote that song and I don't see his name nowhere. I guess it's worth mentionning

Great version of a old old Standard. Thank you Mr Engel, I have enjoyed it several times and if they come to this area, I will buy tickets they are truly great!

Only 402 likes out of nearly 90,000 views? something is seriously wrong with people.
Most people are dumb.
But...be glad were not those dumb people:)
Jay M I was thinking the same thing
Some people view but don't feel like liking. That way the video is not saved.
I can watch it 10 times but only ever like it once.

Love the Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie version.
