Hi George! Another fun and informative video - Thanks! A little tip…to get the glare off in your photos, just have a piece of 2’x2’ white foam core with a quarter size hole cut in the center. Position it so you can take the photo thru the hole. Wait till you see the difference! Loved the baked potato story - who knew?
Chicken wings were once an item no one wanted . Very hard to market them . That was until somebody came up with the idea to market them to bars and pubs . Sauces were added to them like BBQ etc . The idea became a success , as wing nights are still popular . They’ve tried it with turkey wings too . That idea never took flight ( pun intended ). This was told to me by a bar owner I knew in the past . A bit of food trivia . Congrats on your sales . You deserve all good things that come your way , as you are so honest about what you sell as well as your knowledge .
You are welcome! I love sharing what I know and I want to know more, to me it's about the love of the stuff and why it's here that makes us be here for it
Hi George! Just wanted to share that I loved the gorgeous lamp, the simply beautiful feather pull vase, and the sparkly crystal cut vase. All stunners!
Hey George. Great sales! I don't collect Kewpies, but those cigar linens were fantastic. They're a great cross-collectible. 1914 was the year my maternal grandmother was born. The Fenton/Dave Fetty vase is a really pretty one. The Mengel _Miss America_ boat went for a bit less than I expected, considering its condition. I much prefer it to the _Star Wars_ Tie Fighter 😂
I was happy to be able to find some items old enough to really be antiques that people would recognize and enjoy! The Kewpies are a great story, too. The Miss America boat would perhaps have been worth my while to try to fix, but I was willing to sell for less not to take the chance that I couldn't put it back together properly. That Fenton vase is one I'd have in my collection!
Thanks! I didn't really experience the summer lull, partly has to do with what you're finding and able to sell at any given time...but there are definitely more eyes on eBay in the cooler months.
I don't know why people aren't in the clear crystal it looks very rich to me ive had a lot of it in my days and people should pick it up now because at the goodwill in renton and Bellevue the prices are going up. I appreciate your knowledge George another thing i saw elvis in seattle when i was 13 and sixteen he paassed about six months after that. The guy had something about him special even big elvisl lol
Always highlight blemishes and describe defects in detail. Customers appreciate items that show up looking much better than pictured and described. This also seems to increase the chance that a customer comes back in the future.
Hi George, I am surprised by how few pictures you post for items, especially those that are high priced. Is there a reason you don't show more detailed views or all sides of an item?
I honestly figure that because it all refers to a video where I've shown it in great detail, it isn't as important to repeat in the listing. I give enough detail for people to see and then let them ask questions if they need, but not many people do.
@@eclectic_vintage I don’t think you did, the eBay listing videos come out as a release to members first and then they are released to non-members a few days later
I envy you Americans, so much. If you were UK resellers, you would be tearing your hair out. You guys have a MASSIVE country and ergo, a massive, captive customer base. We have a finite amount of valuable items and millions of resellers, all in competition, on a TINY island. So be grateful you live in such a country.
We are spoiled that way! I really enjoy UK made items but I see as many here in North America as I perceive there are in England/Scotland/Wales/North Ireland...you sold us a lot of stuff!
3:56. I am 100% against the WHITE OUT background in ebay photos ! It makes the item look FLAT and CHEAP with NO shadows . It also makes it IMPOSSIBLE to see (at a GLANCE - without READING) HOW BIG the item it. It really looks like you cut a photo out of a magazine and pasted it on a white piece of paper.
I am SHOCKED and how many people do this . I think it's a terrible practice . And yes- I know that someone says "It makes it look better in a Google Search" or some such nonsense. I am always scolding KAT the Nurse Flipper for doing this . I think it just makes your item look FLAT .
Well, it's each resellers choice about backgrounds. And while we all have opinions about what's best..in the end, its only our opinion, not a statement of fact.@@LannieLord
@LannieLord Interesting, there seems to be two schools of thought about this! The white out background takes away a lot of background issues that a lot of semi-amateur photographers like myself could not fix on our own, things that distract from the item. I photograph on the road in motels, places where I'm a guest and don't have proper studio equipment, etc. It does take a dimensional aspect away though, that is true, and it does change the item, so it's for me a case-by-case decision whether to do it or not.
Let's keep supporting George by SHARING his videos w others who will also be interested in his knowledge & humor 🎉

Thank you! I hadn't thought of the pinhole method since doing old black and white photography, great idea
I always learn something new from you. Great video!😊

That is an interesting story! I remember they were not a thing until the early 1980s
I remember the pieces as they were first posted, it's a good sample of what sells
looking forward to this one

Hi George! Just wanted to share that I loved the gorgeous lamp, the simply beautiful feather pull vase, and the sparkly crystal cut vase. All stunners!
I do like the glass too!
I appreciate your aside concerning Elvis.
Such a very tragic end to a loving ,talented man.
Indeed
Your Fenton is truly beautiful 🎉

What a nice collection sold. Love that Lamp ❤
Yes, me too.
good information on the shipping and great products
Thank you, George
Thank you @rebornhome!
Great successful sales George! Congratulations
Thank you, I'm glad they sold well and made collectors happy!
Thanks for the great show!
Glad you liked it!
the shipping is now outrageous.
It can be! The fact that USPS is being forced to subsidize UPS is even more so.
I'm so impatient.
It'll be worth the wait. XO, Di
Sorry I’m late. Will watch the beginning later.
Go REDS! We just got new manager. I respected David Bell. Saddened by Charlie Hustle ⚾
I'm not sure that I could have parted with that lamp :-)
Looks like things are picking up on eBay again after the summer lull many complain of. Congrats

I agree on all points! How cool you got to see Elvis in person.

I've found that is definitely true, if you describe flaws a buyer will be pleasantly surprised.
When you gave the person a refund because of the shipping cost did eBay reduce their fee since fees are based on total sell?
Yes they do

Did you know that AI thinks that " The Antique Nomad" George... is at least 100 years old because an antique is at least 100 years old.

Actually, my pet peeve are photos that show background items that are NOT part of the sale listing.
