If you've ever gotten carried away with a Bob and tried a double up on hard kicks or punches and slip, he does recoil the hell out of you if his base is full. Its like the most aggressive rubber headbutt
I've been doing Muay Thai (in a "real" gym) now for about a year. My dad trained me for several years before i joined the gym (but in "american" kickboxing)... But for real, when i first got into that gym and did my first few heavybag sessions, my coach didn't believe, that i just started training. Also my first time sparring was against one of the better fighters in that gym. This is where your Videos get in. I was watching many fighttips videos, so that i had strategies, clean technique etc. and was able to knock the guy down several times. He still kicked my ass but still, this was such a success for me personally. Your videos really help me a lot, thanks👌
Setting traps, as you describe it, is a similar concept to fighting games to conditioning/training your opponent. You would throw out a move over and over to train your opponent to react a certain way and then later in the match, you would throw that same move to get them to react that specific way with a different follow up.
Hi my name is philip from Philippines i am 13 yrs old i train muay thai by myself, i watch your video and this is very helpfull and effective thanks a lot man. 😎😎😎
Reminds me of one of my all time favorites I learned from you: 3 outside low kicks, then with N°4 step in, cut through with the arm and trip him over the stepping 'kick-leg'
Hey Shane so I just started boxing about a week ago and your video’s are really helping me learn of to get the movements dow so thx for making all ur vids (especially the footwork ones 👍)
Like micky said to rocky if you want to beat apollo you have to change everything. rocky was left handed and micky said learn to use your right hand to surpsrise him and apollo was surprised.
Love Tip #3!! I watch a lot of Canelo bc of his body type and the opponents he fights. he’s usually the shorter but stockier fighter, and he loves to go the body. I’ve based so much of my style of off his movement and strategy! Thanks Shane!
Excellent vid! Thanks Shane Love some advice on fighting a very aggressive almost sloppy fighter who disrupts your rhythm. As first fights can sometimes be.
Awesome stuff, been following Shane and FT- for a long time as I am a retired Muay Thai fanatic. Loved the sport and Shane just keeps inspiring me and my old body to grab the gloves and practice / train. Will you ever do a special about Muay Thai and techniques such as the ghost step ? Do you have dreams to visit Thailand and see the actual legends such as Buakaw Banchamek? I went to check online for FT gear, do you ship to Holland too? Thank you for all the awesome videos, fight tips! You definitely helped this underdawg!
Hey I'm actually interested in adding more wing Chun into my art and add it to my game. Can you give me a few names of some of the initial blocks and basics, so I can look into some videos.
The most important thing that I did is knowing what my goal is in every position. This strategy is different for every person which means in can be adapted for your own skills. If I’m against the cage then I’m trying to fight my way off of the cage. Some people would rather switch the position and back the other person against the cage. If someone is in my guard then I’m trying to submit them, if I’m on top then I’m looking for them to give up their back or get an arm bar
hi shane, loved the video. could you perhaps do a video on covering up in boxing, more specifically in the philly shell. on a more personal note. how do i stop shying away from punches. whenever i spar with my buddy i step back to much, and i almost always go to far and end up not reaching him with any counters. once again ,loved the video and thanks for all your advice
@@fighttips Yeah thanks alot it definitely helped to give me an idea of what i need to look at and add when setting up my gameplan and adjusting to my opponent. Keep up the vids man, they really help💪🏽
Assuming amateur fighters, the coach is important. Good coach will tell you when your ready for a fight. For different people it could be much sooner or much longer, people learn at different speeds. Great coach will be able to see and tell you whether you have something, power, speed and good natural form etc. And will develop you, or develop you until they “see” your gifts. But the fundamental is first. A lot of amateur fighters, hold their breath, and “brain dump” then throw punches like mad (this is horrible) it might get you threw a few fights but sooner or later you will get caught flat footed in a bad way. Its not you it’s your coach, they aren’t giving you the wright knowledge. Let you spare with a fighter with more experience that lets you have chances, that makes mistakes on purpose and is patient enough to hit your with more respect for your inexperience. Also, strategies are something we talk about a lot, it should be. To notice things in other fighters like over extended punches, like poor jabs, like crosses that are more shoulder less rotation (pushing), and like standing still or dropping hands after throwing shots. And how to respond to these mistakes in real time during your fight.
Love the princess Bride! I know something you don't know... I'm not really left-handed. 😂😎 You're an awesome teacher man keep up the good work watch you all the time.
Hey Shane this may be late but I'm more of a newer fighter, (I'm southpaw and left handed) I find I kick more with my right leg in fights, almost like my back leg takes a hop step forward and my body goes back my right leg goes up almost like a balance and I try to fire a kick for my buddy who's teaching me a this is this smart? Or since were orthodox vs south paw should I kick with my back leg?
Hi Shane. Superb video as always. I subscrided your channel few months ago and relgularly watch your clips I am 48 years old i am from Greece. My name is john. I was weighting 275 lbs in the summer of '19. As from August '19 till today June 26th 2020 i struggled to drop my wieght with healthy nutricion and lots of hundreds miles fast walkiing in my work out programme. Today, my weight is 176 lbs 5.7 feet tall, with only 22 pounds left to get rid of my body weight, hopefully by the end of summer. I am already doing 200 push ups per day targeting 500 and i start to feel my muscle system getting stronger from head to toe day by day. I crave to drop my last few pounds to enroll a boxing club here. I contacted Michael Zambidis's fight club, one of the lregends in K1 history Great guy, very pationate with training people. Very proffecional. But, i got a small hermiea in an upper thorax disc lately and i need to rest until September- October so the pain goes away and i can start boxing lessons. Meanwhie i will keep punching small punches to the ball like in the start of your video, and work some shadow boxing slowly in front of the mirror, since i can't perform very fast and quick moves around which could cause my back pain to get worse. I am watching your lessons and i envy you. Stay strong.
Hey John, thank you for sharing your story with us! I'm excited for you to start training with Iron Mike Zambidis, but yes -- make sure you let your injuries heal. It will take patience, but you must give your body what it needs: rest. Keep dieting healthy, keep your mind strong, and keep with light movements. You'll be back training in no time 👍
fighttips one question american kickboxing what martial arts is it made of besides boxing and karate and also is it a american martial art not japanese martial art
Avoid the fight if you can. If you can’t stay on your feet, try not to take the fight to the ground. However if it happens to go to the ground then BJJ would be useful for getting off the ground. Just try to always stay on your feet.

Hi i injured my wrist everytime i spar with my friend we have no gloves just a piece of towel then use it to our hand like a gloves then i punch hard then my wrist i feel pain how long to heal this wrist and how long i can spar again and how to improve my wrist strenght
I think your wrists will get stronger the more you spar. I would seriously try to get some proper gloves as they will protect your hands a lot more. It will also be a lot safer to spar with proper gloves
Bob is secretly planning a 5 step strategy to knock Shane out. He has that killer instinct look. That combo breaker into an ultra combo look.
Alden White yeah that’s why he is so quiet
Too quiet....
Possibility to get knocked out by a Bob is low, but never zero. Watchout Shane
If you've ever gotten carried away with a Bob and tried a double up on hard kicks or punches and slip, he does recoil the hell out of you if his base is full. Its like the most aggressive rubber headbutt
He's got mean headbutts
Shane’s lost it, this quarantine is making him talk to bob, all jokes aside thanks Shane!
It's cuz he misses Vince.
Funny
He has a wife
Pffft, obviously Bob has lost it. Shane isn’t even real.
Ronald Yang, Woah, hey thank you, you just help me find out how decayed my own mind is.
Shane’s quick “Owee” after the teep spoke to me, knowing that it was so automatic for him to say it LOL.

Holy shit that spinning hook kick was nasty, nice shane!
As Wing Chun is my background, this superb video reminds me of a quote by the great Gary Lam: let your opponent show you how to hit them.

Avoid the fight if you can. If you can’t stay on your feet, try not to take the fight to the ground. However if it happens to go to the ground then BJJ would be useful for getting off the ground. Just try to always stay on your feet.
MI - 11BN - Stephen Lewis SS (2682) I disagree about the BJJ. I love it, but in a fight that’s exactly how you get kicked when you’re down. Literally.
