Nice show fella's. Surely the next big send is Cape Naturalist to Freo Reedee?

There's no doubt open ocean DWing is hardest and purest discipline of foiling. But to claim it's the ultimate...is only an opinion. Bigger boards, slower foils, softer swell, shuttle logistics is not appealing to everyone. I'd rather "point sail" a wingfoil on 45L board and 3m wing in head high breaking waves anyday. Being stoked about your sport is one thing, but "selling idea" because your in bed with brands is another.

Completely agree with what your saying especially around the logistics of the sport. Maybe it would have been better to say the 'ultimate challenge.' Winging waves is next level in so many ways, trouble is finding that ideal wave! Glad to hear your stoking on foiling too!

Guys I love your podcast!! I have been wondering a lot about the history of the sport, how things got started with Laird Hamilton back in the day with those clunky foils using snowboard boots/bindings, the Kai Lenny video from 2016 and then everything just blew up... how cool would it be if you guys could do a interview with Laird Hamilton and really go deep into how this all got started!!

Thanks that sounds like an amazing idea we will definitely look into that! It would be amazing. If you interested Armie Armstrong gave a pretty interesting run-down of the history of foiling from his perspective, starting when Laird Hamilton released the Ultimate Waterman film of him foiling Raglan, New-Zealand. It is crazy how quickly this sport has grown.

I'm an old guy. Just turned 77. I'm thinking about a foil drive assist Gen 2 on something about 5', 5'2, 19-20 wide, 70,75 l. I weigh 75 kg. Thinking about lots of foil combinations. I got up on foil in downwind conditions on Maui with a foil drive assist and a very large board and foil. What do you think? About the right combo? Love the podcast. Aloha, Don

Thanks for the support Don! Sounds like a great combo to me. I tried the Gen 2 on a prone board and it has heaps of power, so something around your body weight should work really well downwind. Best of luck!
