The 1989 was the best football team, regionals a game stolen from Gregory Portland saying they had fumble then erase that part of the clip, however they won it by stealing a game and ended up on penetrations , game ended with the same score, one game away from going to state
The original song was written back in 1973 by Mr. Maldonado & Tommy Mendez if memory serves me correct and it was recorded by Los Layton, I have the original song in one of my hard drives, I will have to locate it and post it. Somewhere I have the original lyrics also but only God knows where. This was back when Mercedes, Donna, Raymondville & Rio Grande were in district 32AAA along with EEHS. The '73 team was the 1st one to be known as La Maquina Amarilla, they used to park a Yellow Road Sweeper or something similar at the corner of the football field and if memory serves me correct again, they would turn it on and rev the engine during the games. In 1973, we played the Donna Redskins and we had not beaten them in 13 years, the night before the game some of their players came and defaced the football field burnt DHS 73-0 and they painted a "D" on the dressing room door over the Jacket mascot. Coach Javier Gutierrez was livid and when game time approached about two hours before the game he told the whole team to go to the gym and lie down and think about the game. As we did that "El Corrido de la Maquina Amarilla" came blasting over the gym intercom and played for two hours until it was time to get dressed. We didn't hit the football field until after the coin flip and when we did the crowd, which was standing room only, went wild, needless to say we beat the Donna Redskins that night. Memories like that you don't forget.
Yes like the saying goes once a Jacket always a Jacket my brother was also a football player for the Jackets Armando Aguila 🙏 RIP the corrido brings lots of beautiful memories best wishes!
Does anyone know the name of the DJ that would come out on the radio in the 1980’s in a Spanish radio station and would say “La Maquina Amariiiilla” ? He would say the Friday night scores too I believe. Anyone know the name of the DJ and the radio station?

the 2004 EE Football team is probably one of the best teams ever assembled. This is coming from a guy that played against them in 2004.

Amazing story. Do they write a new Corrdio every year? Please do not forget to post the lyrics and whatever else you remember ... I can’t wait.
I wanna know more about this story. Sounds like you have some great knowledge of E-E's history. Is there any way we can talk offline?
